If you've ever lost your love for your work, your hobbies, or a sport you used to pursue... You might be able to relate to this film. This adventure absolutely changed the way I relate to running, and I'm so much happier for it. I guess I just needed to change the way I approach running in my own mind. Thank you so much for joining in on this journey

Im 72yrs young, and 2 things I've learned is: Life is to important to take seriously, so just go have FUN! ! And, you have to learn to be your own best friend. Set realistic goals. Ones that are flexible. Our bodies change, the world changes. Always be ready to adapt. My prayers are always with you Eva. Stay safe.

Watching this video made me happy. I was an athlete and an outdoors woman when I was younger. I had many adventures. My body has worn out now and I cannot do most of my favorite things, but seeing your pure joy for running is beautiful. Even though I cannot run, or hike anymore, I still try and get out to my favorite places and swim, paddle and enjoy nature. I was a vanlife for years and I am so grateful for those memories. ❤

Very impressive run Eva. It isn’t the distance it is the terrain. That is very difficult to negotiate because of the nature of the trail. As you said there are many rattlesnakes and cactus to pass. Running in the rocks while very tired is quite dangerous because you are too tired to focus on where your next step is going to go ,yet it is important that you do. Bravo! Kindest regards Your Pal Al

You took the right approach! If you’re going to run to compete with yourself or to beat an unrealistic benchmark, you will hate yourself for it. Run because its fun for you and you have a good time and the end result isn’t to prove anything to anyone else. No one cares unless you’re a professional runner seeking to win. Then the discipline is all important. If you don’t see yourself being a running champion, you’re free to do what you want!

I value the honesty so much because there's so huge lack of it in the world. Like everyone tries to cut a "negative" part off her or him and hide it somewhere and only show us a "good" one, where we can see smiles, success, achievements and high performance in overcoming the hardship. It makes feel lonely because it makes impossible to see a real person, and if you don't see a real person, you can't have a tight connection with them, surface chatting only. Personally i see nothing shameful about failing to achieve something, or quitting some activity, or changing your mind on something. All these things are natural parts of us as human beings.

Something similar happened to Richard Feynman, one of the great physicists of the 20th century, after the war. He got into a very similar funk and his way out was the same, instead of constantly evaluating his accomplishments he decided just to have fun with physics and only do it for the joy of doing it.

Eva, as a guy who has been with you since Syria, I've seen you go through some Hi's and lows over time. The one thing that really stands out to me is the fact that you always handle everything with a poise and grace that not many people have nowadays. YOU inspired me to start running and every time I hit a wall, I ask myself "What would Eva do?" then get up and keep going... Also, if you ever start being hard on yourself over your run times, just remember that since you're such a shorty, you have to take twice as many steps as normal size people. 🤣👍As always, BIG HUGS and much ❤from Tennessee!

I'm not running across Baja, but I've also started running again -- on woodland trails, mostly -- without times and with only slight regard to distances. It's the same with anything you love in life, if it begins feeling more like a job than a passion, you WILL burn out eventually. That's why a lot of talented artists won't turn their hobby into a business, they don't want to feel obligated to do what they enjoy.

You have no idea how much I needed to watch this. I have been battling an ongoing health issue for the past 2 years that caused me to stop running last October after restarting my running streak. Long boring story with the details but it was making me sicker instead of better. Anyway, I think I have finally conquered the health issue and need to start moving again. I need to remember the fun of running and not just focusing on what I have lost. I'll admit to some tears because I knew and have felt what you were talking about but they were some cathartic tears. I need to find the fun again.

I’m a former athlete, former law enforcement, and person that has, and will likely again experience burnout. I have learned that burnout is my body and mind telling me to take a break. When I take a break I’m like a hibernating bear. I don’t socialize, do much, or enjoy many things. Eventually, as my mind and body recuperates I start engaging in living again. I become free with my thoughts and feelings. I start making plans and goals, most importantly short term goals to get me to my long term goals, so that I live the life I want. The wall is a real place and if you don’t hit the wall sometimes you aren’t pushing yourself. It’s a mental barrier to physical distress. Burnout is a physical manifestation of a mental condition. At least that’s how I rationalize it to myself. Your level of self awareness is to be commended and thank you for sharing your experiences. I’m going to continue to enjoy watching your videos while working on my short term goals to get me to my long term goals. Keep doing you because it’s pretty damn good!

I’m many years out of that time , but even now I’m remembering that freedom of running. I just really really am happy I found your channel. I hope of day I get to meet you. Run with you. Thank you for all the time you take to makes these films. You truly could create amazing documentaries and your voice and words just bring so much life. I proud of you 30s girl! Thank you for choosing to really really live and to be an inspiration to countless people.

You may not realize it but Vilk is what what unconditional true love looks like. Bringing a dog into your life is the greatest adventure and best thing that has and will ever happened to you.

@tomquinn5437 writes " Bringing a dog into your life is the greatest adventure and best thing that has and will ever happened to you." I think that bringing a dog into one's life is a great adventure, but I think that bringing a human child into one's life, is _the_ greatest adventure and best thing that can ever happen to a person. And better than having your own progeny, is bringing in a child who would otherwise not have a good home, or perhaps would not have a home at all. Of course, before one does this, just like for a dog, one must prepare for the difficulties that may arise. Why do I say this? I am vegan and I do not like _cause_ any unnecessary suffering, to any animal, or to any human, adult or child. And also, I do not like to _allow_ any children to suffer.

The way you burnt out by focusing on reaching certain goals is a great metaphor for the way so many of us are always setting limits on when we can be proud and happy about ourselves, it's so inspiring to see you get out of that pit and find joy in the present moment while running again :) Thanks for inspiring so many of us

I've never suffered from burnout, but age is a brand new game for me. Which brings me to : You are absolutely right about being lost within your own head. In the physical world i never felt lost, i always said to myself: " I am right where i am, so I can't be lost." You are amazing Eva!

It’s so different as you get older and have always been an athlete. I did everything, rode mountain bikes, ran every day 10 miles went to the gym, hiked. You name it I did it full blast. Now at 64 I am that same woman in my head but my body calls bullshit.😊So now I walk a lot in the forest with my dogs. I’ve had to slow down and doing that and excepting it are not always easy in my head. Your young do everything you want.❤

Eva, I enjoyed this video very much. I felt like I could relate to it a little bit. I’m getting older and I’m not as active as I used to be. Last winter I went camping in a remote area. I decided to do some longer hikes and snowshoeing (as I used to do in my younger days). On my second day I was on a trail that was very challenging for me. I found myself physically exhausted and wondering “why am I doing this?” I pushed through my discomfort (I also felt like I couldn’t go on). I did get through it, and felt such a great sense of satisfaction. Listening to your words brought this memory back for me, and reminded me of what brings me joy. Thanks for your videos, I really enjoy following along with your adventures and thanks for reminding me of what truly makes me happy.

Great job and what an amazing adventure!!! It’s great you’ve come to terms about what running really means to you. There is nothing to prove to anyone but yourself. It’s about the adventure and journey of the run. The beautiful things and places you see along the way. I’ll be 60 next year and it took years to figure all that out and what running really means to just me. I had to learn to run my own races, do my own training plan, not worry about time, except for cut off times of course, during a race. I loved running ultras and training for them, but I had to learn how to read my body, know when enough was enough and just enjoy the journey, because that’s what it’s really about. Having to come to terms with aching joints and learning that hiking is OK too. My trail running canine is also reaching that point. So now we just enjoy the hiking journey. Good for you and thank you for taking us along on all your amazing adventures!

You touch so many people’s hearts, it’s truly amazing. Please know that being a failure has nothing to do with quitting a run, that is courage. And as you always say: the world belongs to the brave! And right now, you are getting yourself back in the world again, let the world hold you in its heart!
