I actually really like this mechanic. It gives me an excuse to craft a perfect anti-seregios set and to master its move set and fight it over and over again. And with the extra materials I get from repeated hunts, I craft some armor pieces or other weapons as trophies. Not to mention, cuts down on crown hunting later on

I don't think this is an old gen VS new gen thing. My longest old gen grind was MH3U where it took me 3 weeks of playing almost every day to get a brachy gem, killing 37 brachy in the process. In world I had a month long grind for the right streamstone in base game as well as a 2 month grind for the Kjarr ice IG. Don't ask me about the attack +4 grind in Iceborne. This, however, has nothing on the anomaly grind in Sunbreak. New gen has more convenience sure, but its still grindy as hell by design.
@arsans_16 күн бұрын
@ True true. I was never really meaning this to be a new vs old thing cause it really isn’t. I meant it more so as a game design thing in general. Low drop rates for grind heavy, repetitive sections just suck when you don’t get the item you want quick enough.

In my first MHGU save(s), I was 100%ing the game: across two saves (because cruel Equipment Box limit), I upgraded _every single_ weapon in the game, up to about G4 before I stopped. Also made every armor set. Not once was I walled by the 1% materials, but in fact only the ones which are primarily or solely through breaks, such as Seregios Talons. The only time across every English release (and English patched MHP3rd) I've ever felt the rare materials were frustrating to get, was in World, where you actually just need a million of everything, and no other material matters; that means every time you fail to get a Rathian Mantle on all of those gold reward slots, you _actually_ just wasted time and Investigation attempts. And for Rise, I got up to Anjanath in High Rank before modding for more Quest Rewards. 🤣
@arsans_16 күн бұрын
@@JanderStrahd Dang. I never had issues with getting rare parts in Rise. I just assumed that the drop rates were statistically higher due to the amount of things that can increase the number of drops and drop rates.

@arsans_16 күн бұрын
@ I always felt Rise’s part requirements to be a lot lower than something like MHGU. It only really ever took me 4-5 hunts to get every part I needed from a single monster. The rest of the time spent was all to gather enough money to actually forge the armour or weapon.

@shadow1163610 күн бұрын
@arsans_ then whats the math brianiac, 2% is 2/100 or 1 in 50, you have around 33% chance to get 1 drop in 20 hunts... that pretty damn good luck
@arsans_10 күн бұрын
@ See that would be true if for every hunt there was a 2% chance I get the drop but thats not the case. The drop rates are dependent on a few factors such as carves or which parts you break on the monster. Each carve has a 3% chance to get the drop, another 3% chance if you break the head, 2% chance from tail carve, a 1% chance you get the drop from hunt rewards, 1% from shiny drops and a 1% drop from breaking the wings (due to the subquest). On a side note, if you decide to capture the monster, you get a 2% chance from the capture reward pool. Say that I always hunted the monster, and broke the head every time and carved the tail every time. Just by doing this alone, the chance you get a dissenter each hunt is actually about 14%. If you do that every hunt then the chance of getting a dissenter within 18 hunts is about 94%. This means that there is a 6% chance that I don’t get the dissenter within 18 hunts. Since I don’t always carve the tail and also sometimes capture the monster occasionally, my odds would be a little different, but I estimate it to be close to these odds especially since I did do other things that give me a chance to get a dissenter. All this to say is, having properly hunted Seregios 19 times, I actually DID get unlucky since the odds were clearly in my favour to have gotten it within 18 tries, yet it took me 19 tries. Even more so when you consider the odds to get a dissenter within a number of hunts start being above (or at the very least, around) 50% after the 4th or 5th hunt. Using the previous benchmark of 3 body carves, 1 tail carve, and breaking the head every hunt, the odds that I get the dissenter within 9 hunts is around 75% (I estimate my odds are around here by the 9th hunt) which is still pretty high. I did get very unlucky here.

That's what those World/Rise kids don't understand about old gens. You also have to have knowledge about the game, not just brute force some bs idea you came up with. If you do enough research about LS weapon tree you'd realise that it's not worth going for upgrades on it. At that point you're not suppose to farm for those upgrades. You already have better weapons available from other monster which takes little to no time to make. Being so stubborn wanting to upgrade this seregios LS cost you so much time. You can be mad or salty all you want but you're the noob here. People like you are so used to spoon feeding and handholding from World/Rise lol.
