I bought a pallet of clothing and equipment from the Canadian military just so that we could go through it together and look for treasures.
This isn't the most serious video I have ever made but I did have a lot of fun making. Grab a drink, get comfortable, I hope you enjoy it.

I love how the government sells used equipment to the public when the equipment was originally bought with public taxpayers dollars.

Well, that's the idea, the money made on the sale goes back into the government- either to the Treasury Board or back to the department, I'm not sure.

@@TheSegui That's kind of dumb. It's unfit for service because there was a change in uniform or failed to meet requirements of new military standards. It's still perfectly good for a civilian to use. Waste not want not and recoup some of that spent tax money.

I had a few military duffle bags. Mine were not those kind you zip up. The end opens up, where you put everything in it. There were hole rings on the end with a long narrow ring you put through the hole rings to close it and you clip it with the carabiner clip on the end of the shoulder strap, used to carry the bag over your shoulder. I had a black bag and "army green" bag made of good canvas and another "army green" bag made with this plastic-like material, which can rip much easier than the canvas ones. I still have the black canvas one. I love those bags!

Some old wore out iron goes for big bucks, then some real gems go for cheap. I saw a '79ish Chevy 3500 fire truck with like 3000 miles go for cheap. The pictures inside and out looked showroom condition. I think it sold for $5000! I can't find it now

We normally used to bid $125.00 a box on pallet cause of the amount of pure junk you have to throw away. Canadian Army sales very bad surplus these days. GCSURPLUS for those interested in looking auctions in your area. Also alot of times they use stock photos and not the actual photo. $850.00 for a pallet is wowo lol.

I turned in two pairs of newly issued boots that I hadn’t even worn once. The stores guy used a hole punch and punched out a single hole in the top of the tongues on each boot and they were thrown in the surplus bin. So you can sometimes get very lucky with “used” surplus kit.

The dress jacket with the back cut out was for a dead soldier so they look nice in the casket.

Seems like if you actually want a "pair" of gloves or a complete set of something, you'd have to buy more than one box to get all the "matches". Pretty smart way to grow sales.

if the army dress jacket had the whole back cut out, maybe it was used for troop photos so they didn't have to change into their own dress uniform.

Those stretchy pants and blouse were issued to pregnant service women. They were dress type.

So you must not have been in super long, or done any office work with in the CAF ( sometimes to get a promotion you gotta do it) but women in all branches of the CAF could be issued maternity dress, thats where the blouse and strechy pants come from. Its all in the dress regs manual
