I spent a year with the Fujifilm X-H2S. Here's what I found.

Thank you for the video! I use exactly the AF-C settings, you showed us 😊. For new users ist is important mention, that they set boost on, AF-S and AF-C on focuspriority and the AF+MF OFF. If this is on, focuspriority switches back to releasepriority unfortunately. Sure the dedicated AF-switch had to be erased, because you otherwise cannot program customsettings with this parameter. And with C1-C7 you are quicker to switch complex Settings.

The AF in this really, really easy situation is not what I expect from the top of the line cam and even more from a 2,5 grand body! I own a gh6 and I think it would do this situation better.

So, I bought a XH2s for an emergency photoshoot, I needed the autofocus performance (over my X-Pro2), to my surprise it didn't come with a charger, which means I couldn't charge an additional battery while working. So, I ordered a battery charger and to my second surprise it didn't come with a USB-C cable. How much more can I tolerate this short changing.

AF settings depends also from lenses we use, i lve my X-H2S with some knowledge its a beast :)

Yeah I agree. The older lenses don't fare so well but with newer lenses with linear motors it's super capable. I at least am super satisfied with the X-H2S, it's such a beast as you said!

Good material. Some good news, though: the GFX 100ii. How so? Well, that camera has subject tracking and waveforms! So I think we should expect those for the X-H2S sometime soon

Thank you! Subject tracking is already a thing on my X-H2s but I usually prefer the more generic tracking as it is a bit faster to switch to than to select the appropriate subject in the tracking menu. Waveforms would be very welcome though!

Amazing review.. Probably the best I have come across for XH2S.. I would love to see a video on your workflow (Color) in da vinci. Do you use any LUTs?

Thank you sooo much, means the world to me! I colorgrade from the ground up, mostly without LUTs (I feel it's better to learn these things yourself first before applying LUTs). Here's two LUTs I do sometimes use though: - The FLog2 to rec709 conversion LUT from Fujifilm. Sometimes I use the FLog2 to rec709WDR as it retains highlights better. - The famous Kodak 2383 LUT built in Resolve. This is a good starting point for a look. In this video, I didn't use this LUT. To convert FLog to rec709 I simply use the Davinci Resolve color managed workflow. I recommend putting your LUTs at the end of your pipeline and the primaries and secondaries first. If you want to learn more about color grading I recommend Cullen Kelly. He is a professional color grader and has lots of informative videos on workflow and color management.

Do you shoot handheld or use a gimbal? Also, have you upgraded it to the latest firmware? Some people have said that it's affected the AF (but it's been fixed).

What means af multimode? Is it af mode "all"?

In photo mode they call it 'all', in video mode it's multimode. Basically you let the camera decide 100% what it'll focus on.

@@KeesGortPhotographyaf all: Rotate the rear command dial in the focus-point selection display (Selecting a Focus Point, The Focus-Point Display) to cycle through AF modes in the following order: SINGLE POINT, ZONE, and WIDE. So i prefer zone (3x3). Greetings 👋

AF is not so important for me, I love Fuji for other reasons, but the fact is that other brands have slowly been catching Sony when it comes to AF precision, but not Fuji. It hunts even in this video like it hunted with xt2.

@@mex5341 It took Fuji too long to fix basic firmware issues and I wasn't gonna buy a beta firmware X-H2S so I sold off everything for Sony. It's almost 2 years? And still no touch to track on it. Canon has been doing it since 2017 or 2018 on entry level DSLRs that only cost $500. I might go back to Fuji when they finally nail everything with the X-H4S. Or X-H5S. Who knows how long they will take. Panasonic leap frogged with just 1 iteration of phase detection but Fuji had like a decade of experience with phase detect. I don't get it.

Was the self interview part on eye auto focus? I remember watching a video months ago where someone said if you're using eye focus to pick an eye to focus on. This resulted in the focus being much more stable. Maybe the focus limiter would be helpful too.
