It's always so delightful to see how much people in Japanese culture take care of items, even when they plan to trash it :) Comparing 2nd hand, gaming items from Japanese owners vs. Western, you always get a fair price on a well-taken care of unit vs. getting an uncleaned item that has gunk built-up in the crevices, cracks and bruises all over the plastic and the owner requests a large sum of money for it (usually doubled). Edit: okay, that roadkilled 3DS XL is an exception xD

The systems that are sold as working tend to be very nice, but systems sold as junk are still often disgusting and beat up, even from Japan. I actually just got done scrubbing the grime off a Gameboy DMG I imported, and I've got an even worse Gameboy Color that is currently banished to a plastic bag to contain its horrors. The main difference I find between Japan and other places is that the junk systems are priced accordingly in Japan. There's no Japanese DKOldies asking 10,000 ¥ for a trashed DS Lite.

Huh? It all comes down to the individual owner of the item, there’s no cultural trend..idk why some Western people romanticize everything Japanese like this

The adhesive between the lcd and the polarizing film breaks down over time and darkens. Unfortunately it does it faster if the screen was exposed to heat or UV light, so it just came to be called screen burn.

Maybe that sticker residue on the GB Station was just on the plastic. Though, if it was directly on the box, maybe it was resealed in cellophane. Japan seems to like to do that to keep the cardboard boxes in good condition, though usually it would be one of flap seal cellophane sleeves rather than shrink wrap. Either way, I'm excited for that future video.

If you plan to spend money on sendico and live in canada, us or mexico keep in mind the fees stack up quickly. Its not just as easy as putting $20 in and getting a cheap gameboy or ds. I wanted to get a ds lite on there because they seem cheap, (and are) but turns out in the end because of the fees i technically spent more than i would have if i just used ebay locally . Still wasn't that expensive but just keep this in mind.
@gooseii Жыл бұрын
Not really? The fee for transferring currency is negligible. The only other real fees you have to pay is per item commission and consolidation (which I didn't even have to pay the last two times). Both are only like $3USD. Shipping is high though. Mostly don't try to buy like one thing at a time and have it shipped.

Is it really manipulation though? Manipulation gives the impression of premeditated and malicious tampering with market values. The reality is that making videos showcasing stuff to a large audience is going to drive up demand, and in turn sellers are going to jack up the prices because they're greedy opportunistic vultures. Ones intend doesn't matter. Same thing happens with iPods due to Dankpods' channel. Pretty sure Wade doesn't resell anything he shows on his channel, but the fact that he shows it at all has an effect on the market. Gonna assume he's not manipulating the market. Elliot does resell stuff, but that doesn't mean he's intentionally manipulating the market.

The funny thing is not 2 days ago I paid $5 for an AGS-101, in that exact same color and everything. Mine is in pretty poor condition (the screen is fine, and it works perfectly, but it has dog teeth marks all over it). The funny thing is it didn't have a charger so I had to shove a DSi battery in it to test if it works or if it was really a 101. I'm planning on reshelling it with a translucent housing, wish me luck!!

Regarding that black AGS-101 GBA SP: Apparently, the AGS-101 in the charcoal color was extremely rare in North America. Apparently, it was never regularly sold there in that color way and only ever offered as part of limited special bundles and such. It was more common in Europe where it was regularly sold in stores, but again was a regional thing or smth. So you my boy got the rarer variant of the charcoal AGS-101 (probably the rarest as it ended up in Japan?)
