You do want winding trails and want connect paths so you don’t need towers every where as manage force enemies follow one path for very long time and hit both boats and enemies to point a full day would pass before they would get close.

Looks like it is theoretically possible to force every path and waterway to loop on itself with no end point for enemies to spawn. Likely incredibly low chance. But I have to wonder what would happen.
