A few things I didn’t include the video: 1. Val and I are not married. We work together. That’s not our house. It’s our studio. We wear masks because we’re within 6 ft and the government has mandated indoor masks. 2. I had a really hard time ordering Scosche products despite being the #1 device mount brand in Canada. I ordered a car charger from them and it cost ~20 dollars in shipping and another 20 for duty. 3. Belkin has an updated charger that’s MagSafe compatible. I wasn’t able to get it in Canada and none of the US vendors could send the product north.

I ended up getting the regular magsafe because I had just bought a series 6 and had the extra bricks and cables around for them. I also found out that I almost never had everything charging at the same time so in the end I prefer the slightly faster charging of the regular magsafe for my trickle charging, than any of the 2-in-1 options...

I would give the magsafe duo a reason for existing in that it is by far the cleanest and smallest 2-in-1 setup for like, traveling/moving around/commuting/etc. vs. all the rest that are more of a nightstand/desk kinda deal.

You are my favorite reviewer! I missed this video when it came out, and I saw after I purchased two different charging stations for different purposes. I got the Belkin on clearance right when the newer version came out and I use it to charge my phone, AirPods Pro, and watch while I sleep. So charge speed isn’t a concern and it has worked exactly as I wanted. If I didn’t have that one and I were to get one now, it’d be the Nomad because I like the look of it! I’m glad the Scosche charger faired well since I am currently waiting on one to be delivered. I didn’t get the default configuration, but instead bought each piece separately for what I needed. I got one wireless charging pad and two of those multi device holders with USB ports on the back. That is for the multiple iPads and iPod Touches (still popular in my house) that my siblings with special needs use for virtual school and entertainment. The wireless pad I got for if someone wants to top off or get a little charge easily. If I need to charge a device quickly during the day, I’ve got multiple 18w bricks/fast charging car chargers and lightning cables for that.

Awesome comparison! Thanks for reviewing base stations that allow charging with space for Apple Watch cases. For those of us that work in rugged industries, cases are not an optional thing. One thing that annoys me with most charging bases is when the space around the Apple Watch is minimal. Do you have an updated case review for iPhone cases that support MagSafe, especially rugged cases? I keep finding cases that are lacking in one way or another. Oh yeah- holster is a must. Doesn’t have to come with the case, but at least has to fit an Encased holster.

The regular Nomad base station also has some of those “firmware issues”. I’ve been sent two replacement units from Nomad so far - they arrived fine but over time they have all stopped charging my stuff after about a minute of charging.

I have the MagSafe Duo and the annoyance I have is that when my watch reaches 100% charge, it dings as if I just attached the watch to it. It will keep dinging every few minutes so I end up removing the watch so it won’t wake me up in the middle of the night. Plus, having to purchase the 20 Watt charging block on top of the $129 (US) for the device was annoying. I got home and realized I needed the 20 Watt and it wasn’t too happy to use the number of 18 Watt chargers I already had. Back to Best Buy to get the right one...

I’ve got the Skoche and was gifted a Mophio but need a tough phone case: Otterbox defender…. Very frustrated to find that charging with 2.2 mm thick case doesn’t work…. Completely defeating the easy charging concept…. Totally inconvenient to remove case each night…. A suggestion for review is which chargers work well for phones in cases even thicker tough cases!

I have the Nomad Base Station - version without the Watch charger. The extra USB and USB-C port is handy to charge an iPad. I don't like it because we're on our third one. The left most (of three) Qi charging coil keeps dying. This one is going back too, but don't know if I'd bother to get a replacement.
