My favorite tongues story is when my teenage daughter asked my older son to pray for her friend who had been in an accident. My son began praying in tongues, and I understood everything in English. When we were done praying, my daughter said she heard him praying in tongues but also heard him audibly in English. She told us what she heard, and it was word for word what I had heard. In this case, God used this as a sign and a wonder to my daughter, who was struggling with her faith.

My experience came while praying for unsaved loved ones in my bedroom by myself. I was open to the gift if that was something God wanted me to have, but didnt receive it out in the open or even right away. It was so special how it happened. I felt so seen by God in that moment.

As I stated in the beginning of what I wrote I said there is no judgment on where you are at in your walk with God I understand that I too also had to go through that season of my life to be where I am at now and the reason why I'm sharing with this lovely couple is because I believe their hearts are genuine towards God. I too spoke in tongues and it was a widely justified because of the day of Pentecost in the Bible but tongues were only used because people spoke in several native languages and they didn't understand each other so God allowed the holy Spirit to rain down and this one tongue that God rained down they were able to understand one another I didn't think anything of it I just listened to my preacher and the people that were surrounding me did I ever really diligently search out God's word to see if I was being led astray "No" to be completely transparent no I didn't. I was being led astray for 7 years in a Assemblies of God Church where people preach from their feelings instead of from God's word. God's word is rarely used an if it is it is taken so completely out of context that there's no way of understanding it or preachers cherry-pick scripture to lighten the blow to tickle people's ears instead of preaching the truth as it is. Also on the day of Pentecost they didn't need an interpreter because it was a Divine appointment from God above. Jesus said in Matthew 24 then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you and you will be hated by All Nations for my namesake and then many will be offended will betray one another and will hate one another then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many and because lawlessness will abound the love of many will grow cold. This is the generation we are living in so focused on feelings and appearing spiritual but completely neglecting and disobeying the word of God.

@deannabarral3910 Жыл бұрын
@@johnbest1262 the gift was used back in jesus's day because you had so many people speaking in different languages that they could not understand one another. People in the church today who generally all speak English for the most part take these verses about tongues out of context it's all a part of spirituality and mysticism which is not of God it causes confusion. Anyting in the Bible that talks about tongues does not apply to our time. Yes good for you not wanting to manufacture something that is not genuinely from God I would say that's the holy Spirit. What does Jesus say in Matthew 24 to the disciples he says take heed that no man deceives you for many will come in my name claiming they are Christ and deceive many that is the first thing he says when the disciples asked him what will the end of the day's look like.

I believe tongues and prophesy are gifts that all believers can have if they seek/pray for it. Paul spoke this to the entire church "So, my brothers, earnestly desire to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues." 1 Corinthians 14:39
@becomingthelocal Жыл бұрын
*update: Thank you all for your helpful insight. I learned something new in these comments: There were two uses of speaking in tongues. One use occurred in instances like Acts 2, when the Holy Spirit would come upon a person and cause them to speak an earthly language without education in that language, so that unbelievers in the room who did speak that language would hear the gospel in their own language miraculously, and praise God. The other use appears to be divine utterances that only God (or someone gifted with interpretation) could understand and for the most part, was intended to be carried out privately in prayer with God-not in a public setting persay. That being said, the majority of what occurs today is vain babbling without an interpreter and seems to be for show or spiritual boasting which Paul strongly condemns. All of that being said, after careful study, it seems that miraculous signs, prophesies, and tongues were only intended to be used by the Holy Spirit for a short period of time (1 Corinthians 13:8-10) while the early new testament Christians were learning and hearing the gospel for the very first time in the history of God’s people. Paul explained that once the perfect knowledge of God came that the need and use for miracles, prophecies, signs, and tongues would no longer be necessary. Some teach that “when the perfect comes” refers to Christ. Two thoughts to consider with this: James 1:25 refers to the perfect law of liberty that we can look into face to face to examine ourselves. I believe this to mean the complete written word/account of God and the church/gospel that we now have in the Bible . The second thought to consider is that Paul says the miraculous signs would be temporary and no longer used once people received the full knowledge of God (which we have), but that once they ceased, faith, hope, and love would still continue (1 Corinthians 13: 8, 13) UNTIL Christ returns finally at which point faith becomes sight, and hope becomes reality (Romans 8:24). Clearly I still have a lot to learn and I most definitely do not want to put the Holy Spirit in a box and limit how God speaks to nations in this current age. I also do not want to promote a use of the Holy Spirit that very well could have only been intended for a brief time with a specific purpose as the complete word of God was being recorded for the first time. I will still take time to study and pray over these things but also strongly encourage anyone attending a church body that claims to perform miracles, prophecy, and speak in tongues to compare what they are witnessing to how these signs were used in the Bible, and ensure there are no discrepancies (example : chaotic tongue babbling in public settings without interpreters , etc) We are all continually learning and I am first to say that I have room to correct and realign my understandings of scripture from now until the day I die!

1 Corinthians 12:10 actually states that there is a spiritual gift of interpreting tongues. It’s not only spoken of as a natural, earthly interpreting. And if there is ever a need for a gift of interpretation, then that implies that sometimes there won’t be anyone around who knows the language to interpret it naturally.

Thank you so much for making this video it's such Biblical teaching. I'm so thankful for two Godly men in my life who taught me the truth about speaking in tongues. One was my dad. Shortly after I became a Christian at age 13 my dad who is a pastor told me that if I wanted to speak in tongues I just needed to pray to God that he would give me that gift and that God would give it to me. He didn't make a big deal or fuss about it. Now, I had already been baptized in the Holy Spirit and I had rested in the Holy Spirit at that point. But I just remember sitting in my bathroom as a young teenager asking God to give me the gift of speaking in tongues if He wanted to give it to me. And the same thing happened to me that happened to you! I just started speaking in tongues with joy and praise! From that point on the Holy Spirit would lead me to speak in tongues quietly sometimes during worship in church. It was more of a prayer language for me because I did not want to distract anyone around me. But then as a young adult, my pastor was teaching us from 1st Corinthians and taught us that if we have the gift of speaking in tongues, we need to pray that God gives us the gift to interpret it. That way the church could be uplifted by the gift that God gave us. And he told us that he's fine with people speaking in tongues in church as long as they can interpret it and it will encourage those around them. I was a member of a Reformed Baptist Church and we really were not all that charismatic. But I'm so thankful that our pastor was open to whatever God wanted to do in that church. We had very sound Theology and teaching but we also had a reverence and respect for the Holy Spirit. So one day I prayed that God would give me the gift to interpret what I was saying. And it's wonderful! Ever since then, after I speak in a tongue God gives me the English translation automatically and it just comes out of my mouth the same way that the spiritual tongue comes out of my mouth. And it's like you said. It's always a personal prayer of Thanksgiving and praise to God. It's like that verse that says the spirit groans with words we cannot express. I encourage you to ask God to give you the gift to interpret what you are saying so it can bless your wife and your church.

Good for you two for opening up about this because I know it can be controversial in the church!! which is so sad. I have experienced this gift powerfully in my life. I have learned to be quiet about it, however, because there is such a stigma or a confusion about it. I was taught when I was younger in the faith that if you simply ask like a child, God will give you the gift. That gave me the faith to believe it and receive the gift from God. It is a personal prayer language and it helps me a lot in my faith and it comes out whenever I’m worshipping or praying to God fervently. I can see it makes a difference in my prayer life when I don’t know what to pray. To me it’s beautiful and I want everyone to have this gift. But I don’t believe you’re not saved if you don’t have it. I do wish all desired it like Paul said to desire all the gifts. :)

Speaking In Tongues a beautiful journey of Experience ❤️ I started speaking in tongues months after I was saved in 2012 or 2013. When I started speaking in tongues during the service worship at first I was rolling my eyes of people worshiping so much and people speaking in tongues and I was telling myself and God this is not real and it’s pathetic. But a few minutes later my tongue felt like you wanted to say something lol and I told myself Monica you are just trying to copy everyone else but sure enough I started speaking in tongues and I have experienced that it primarily encourages me in difficult situations and allows me to dig a little deeper into God‘s presence and be empathetic to others. However I have been around younger Christians making fun of speaking in tongues, they didn’t know I spoke in tongues but I knew it was not a safe environment to open up about the subject and there wouldn’t be any purpose. So I just learned that on the subject of tongues I needed to speak with believers that were more experienced in that area and even at that only take one edified and discard everything else. I have been in legalistic churches or environments that say you must speak in tongues but I also hear in those experiences that God tells me Hey hey (calling my attention) keep your eyes on me I have not called you to follow others but to follow me. So I respond … Yes Sir 🙌🙏🥳✝️ Speaking in tongues has also allowed me to pray for family in my alone time since I was the first one to be saved and Speaking in tongues allows me to be encouraged even if family makes fun of me for being Christian

So encouraged to hear this powerful testimony! I'll keep you both in prayer as God complete a good work in your family's life. I want to share my personal experience with you when I received the gift of tongues (spiritual language). I had recently surrender to Christ and I found myself driving to work praying when all of a sudden a powerful fire like feeling bursted inside my belly and outflowed through my mouth as new language. It was one of the most powerful experiences I have ever had. After that I every time I would get into deep prayer I would find that the tongues would begin to burst out of me, like a tangible presence of God coming out of my inner most being. 3 months in, as I prayed I realized I wasn't speaking in tongues any more and I began to cry and ask God, what happen? Am I in sin? Did the gift go away? During prayer I was 30 minutes in asking God, Lord why am I not speaking in tongues anymore? All of a sudden I hear this small still voice say, "Speak, it's a gift and I will never take it away from you." I realized that it wasn't going to be like that first time, a burst of power but my continued faith that would bring fourth the utterance of this amazing beautiful language. At first I starred in faith (obedience to the understanding of the free given gift) as I started to utter the first syllables 1 minute later I felt that rush of power come and I began to weep with joy! Praying this encourages you as you pursue him daily! Love you family in Christ! Blessings 🙌.

How can we ignore this beautiful free gift? All 120 who were in the upper room were filled with the power of The Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues . The Holy Spirit fills us to overflowing in His power and presence. Jesus said. I will send the comforter. Jesus said, I will never leave you or forsake you, I will always be with you. Thankyou Jesus. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be My witnesses, telling people about Me everywhere - in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. ( Acts ) Jesus IS God manifested in the flesh.. He has no need to speak in tongues. Jesus goes directly to the Father. The Holy Spirit goes directly to the Father on our behalf , when we speak in tongues. Thankyou Holy Spirit. Nate: You will find that when you go into that secret place with the Lord, your prayer language will rise up out of your belly and speak for you. Allow Him. I rejoice with you. Thanks. 2 questions for Nate and his experience 1. How do you justify your experience when there was no interpreter present? Or is it down to personal choice to keep quiet when there’s not an interpreter? But then many and also yourself claim it’s an experience beyond your control so how would you keep quiet when no interpreter is present. 2. If you gained the gift of speaking in tongues, why did you only do it once? And why did you need someone to pray over you to get it? Why doesn’t it come directly from the Holy Spirit? I’ve heard more about people praying over people to get the gift of tongues (and other sign gifts) than eg evangelism/exhortation etc. Another point that is also made in contradiction of the gift of speaking in tongues is that examples in scripture point to it being used with real earthly foreign languages for the purpose of spreading the gospel to more people. Eg I can’t speak Bemba but God wants me to be a missionary in Zambia. This equates to acts 2 and Peter etc speaking to all the foreigners in Jerusalem. I wondered what your thoughts were on this point?
@dysonwitwer6430 Жыл бұрын
I know the answer to 1. He wasn't teaching over anyone. He was simply praying as the Lord led him. Romans 8 talks about the spirit praying through groanings for the perfect will for the Chruch. 1 Cor 14 talks of it as used for teaching and in leadership. Public and private are different because 1 is meant for your relationship with God verses a corporate edification.

I used to believe that you could only speak in tongues when the “Spirit came upon you” but I assure you you can speak in tongues whenever you will it. That gift is yours and has been given to you. Ask the Lord to stir up that gift in you again and go in your closet or car and speak in tongues. Paul said “I WILL pray with my spirit” “I WILL sing with my spirit” and and “I pray in tongues more than all of you” Thanks for being open about this! Also don’t let people tell you “you can’t speak in tongues unless it’s interpreted”. there is more than one type of tongue in the Bible. One for personal edification and communication between you and the Father and one that is prophetic and to be interpreted for the edification of the body. Not once in Acts was the public display of tongues interpreted the way that “non charismatics” say it’s need to be. Also we live in GA and would love to get together and fellowship. We have a 2 year old and 4 year old. Also would love to get a workout in with you. We have a 2000 square foot gym on our property. We live in White GA. Right off of 75. God bless you both!

Also tongues is not a known language as you can clearly see from 1 Cor 14:2 when Paul says For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit. Also important to notice that not many (if any) gifts get an entire chapter dedicated to them in scripture. Shows the important (and confusion!) that can surround such a topic.

God filled me with the Holy Ghost 6 months after joining a church and attending a youth conference. No one ever pushed me to speak in tongues but everyone spoke in tongues at the church I was attending. They would pray for me and there would be strong strong moves of God. I could feel the presence of God so strongly all around me. It wasn’t until a youth conference where I made up in my mind that I wasn’t going to care for those around me but that I was going to seek Him fully with my all my heart. That same night among over 500 youth I was filled with the Holy Ghost speaking in tongues and praising God!! It was like not like any other experience I had felt but euphoria. You feel lighter like a weight has been lifted off you and there is so much joy and peace in your heart. You immediately want to share the love with others because God has filled you with His love. I was bound to depression and anxiety as a teen, with severe panic attacks and insomnia. I feel asleep like a baby that night and have been speaking in tongues everyday since. Repent and open yourself to God Spirit. He will fill you with the Holy Ghost. It’s a promise not only to you but to your children and it’s the best gift you could receive. Nate only you will understand because you have received it. I’m praying that God reveals His truth to you so that you can lead Sutton towards the truth of the gospel so she too can experience it for herself. Watching your videos I have always seen your convictions to be stronger and it’s because God has been dealing with you. He loves both you and Sutton so much and wants you to be saved. It is required and the Bible makes it very clear. Praying for you both 💓

I’m in a Pentecostal church, and speak in tongues. I believe that you don’t have to be filled with the Holy Spirit to be saved but it’s more difficult to live the Christian life without it. The bible explains the role of the Holy Spirit is to bring conviction, to fill us with boldness and to teach us by his grace. However every instance in the book of Acts shows that when believers received the Holy Spirit the evidence of that was them speaking in tongues. We speak in tongues together corporately as speaking in tongues is a prayer language. However if when the prayer time subsided and one person remains speaking in tongues while everyone else is silent, this is tongues used for prophecy and edifying the church. Once this person finishes speaking in tongues then someone else will interpret in English what God is saying to the church. So there is a personal function of the Holy Spirit and also a corporate function in the church that has to do with prophecy. Regarding Sutton’s comments about Jesus, I would encourage you to read the gospel of John, I think it’s chapter 14. Jesus talks of him needing to go, so the father can send the Holy Spirit….I must decrease and he must increase. The Holy Spirit is a person in the trinity, Jesus was the Son so it doesn’t make sense for him to be filled with the Holy Spirit, in essence another person. Also Jesus’s one commandment to the disciples was to wait and tarry in Jerusalem until they received the power of the Holy Spirit. I doubt Jesus would say this unless it was important. We need the Holy Spirit to be active and working in our lives in order to carry out the great commission and the work of God on this earth, but again it’s not a salvation issue, but still a very important aspect of being a Christian

I'm Pentecostal and I watch Jimmy Swaggert on the television. Although, I'm currently attending a different church, that I have been going to since I was a kid. I grew up listening to the gift of tongues because my Pastor has the gift, and many of the church members have it as well. There was also a lady who had the gift of interpretation. So she could interpret the gift of tongues. What I’ve learned so far and I’m still young and I’m still learning, is that when you receive the gift of tongues it’s a language between you and God. Also, the gift of tongues, it’s available to everyone who wants to receive it. Just as long as you’re saved. There are many gifts in Bible and we all have a gift. And it’s when receiving the gift of tongues you open the door to the gift or gifts that God wants to give you. Again, I’m still learning and that’s the beauty of learning and just reading the Bible and just understanding what God‘s true word is. I remember watching the crusades of Jimmy Swaggart and he said that it’s not required to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit but it is recommended if you are going to continue living here on Earth, because of the struggles you might face along the way. He also said that you don’t need the gift of the Holy Spirit to go to heaven. To go to heaven the only requirement is to be saved and the only requirement to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit is to be saved. I am grateful to have been raised in a Pentecostal church because it opened my eyes to what God can do and how He moves in the church. There are people at my church that still haven’t received the gift of the Holy Spirit but they know it’s in God’s timing and that God‘s timing is perfect. It’s a great topic. Thanks for sharing guys! God Bless you!

Hi Nate and Sutton, sending you love from Ghana. Salvation is a gift of God that we receive through faith in Jesus Christ so not speaking in tongues doesn't disqualify someone who has already received Jesus. The tongues Paul mentioned in 1Corinthians 14 refers to the gift of Diverse kinds of tongues which is mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12. That one, combined with the interpretation of tongues is Prophecy (Speaking the mind of God)

John bevere has a good teaching on this. There are multible tongues in the bible, such as angelic(not intelligable except for interpretation) and earthly language tongues, which is a situational gift not given to all believers. We know normal tongues is for all believers because of Mark 16 and because Paul said he did it more and was more wise because of it, as if to put the people he was talking to to shame. Meaning: pray more in tongues and you can better reflect God's character

The Book of Acts is abundantly clear. Speaking in tongues is the initial evidence of being filled with the Holy Spirit (which is a subsequent experience of empowerment to salvation and for ALL believers!) 1 Cor 14 is also clear that tongues is primarily a prayer language between God and man. It edifies our spirit, charges it like a battery! Tongues is the visible overflow of the life of the Spirit on the inside. This isn’t limited to a select few. Public tongues accompanied by interpretation is the use of it as a public gift. Seek the infilling of the Holy Spirit. God will fill you. Nate, God filled you once and His intention is for you to stir up what He has birthed inside you once again. It was His answer to your prayer. It is a powerful spiritual tool in the life of the believer, and will transform your life. I pray you, and Sutton also, continue on this journey 🙏🏼 How hurtful it is for the church to believe this precious gift of God is only for some, when God desires all His children to experience it’s joy and abundance in their life! Also, a side note. Nate described tongues as being not in control of his mouth. The Holy Spirit does not take our free will or our control. We cooperate with Him, therefore we open our mouths and start to pray as an act of faith. It’s a response on our part also, not just waiting for the Holy Spirit to fall upon us. This is not scriptural.

I grew up in the "charismatic" church with speaking in tongues, falling out in the spirit, etc. And my testimony is a rather complex one, but long story short, we left church continuing our faith at home to figure out what was real because the church we grew up in was abusive and strict. We came back to church and I personally have been to many denominations and nondenoms (and see so much beauty in all of them as well as their downfalls), and the common theme with Charismatic churches is often you must do X to be saved. And that is works! Not faith. I still believe in the Holy Spirit. I still speak in tongues. I still love God's presence. But His presence can be anywhere. At a kitchen table, in a Presbyterian church, or even in the car. Conclusion: I'm tired of people adding so many parameters to be "loved by God" when He just wants us to know Him. Matthew 7 talks about how in the end some will say Lord, Lord have we not done X, Y, or Z in your name? Have we not prophesied? Have we not spoken in tongues? Fasted? All these things for You? But He just wants us to know Him and love Him. Paul talks about this too about how it doesn't matter if you speak in tongues or use the gifts of God if you do not have love. So I've learned that there is NOTHING that I can do to get on good terms with God besides repent and love Him. Our love turns to obedience, not the other way around.

Let me know if you have any questions from a brother in Christ that speaks in tongues. Acts and Corinthians are great places to start in your journey
@calebj3890 Жыл бұрын
@@RRMstudios24 thanks, rob. I do believe in the spiritual gift of speaking in tongues, however I do not subscribe to most modern day claims to it. I believe it is possible, but rare, and only occurs when there is a recipient to the speech, which is usually cross cultural. This is the only type of tongue speech seen in Acts & the Corinthians, and I believe the only type that can be considered legitimate today. Speaking in tongues, if ever to happen, will be an edifying experience not only to the speaker, but also to the receiver, and will ultimately honor and glorify Christ ... if no one understands what's being said, or it's just "a prayer language," it's not contributive ... its confused. and to require believers to speak in tongues to confirm salvation ... that is heretical. let me know your thoughts; I want to hear more about your experiences, too!
@RRMstudios24 Жыл бұрын
@@calebj3890 Well said. It seems many people don't understand that there is a difference between speaking in tongues and praying in tongues (between you and God only). Speaking in tongues over someone or a church is the one that requires an interpreter. I personally just pray in tongues privately, and personally feel like it has really strengthened my connection and closeness to God during prayer. I really desired the gift and prayed for it and the faith to do it for a few months while doing research about it and one day it just came over me. I knew I was on to something because the devil immediately tried to convince me it wasn't tongues or that I was doing it wrong. I believe tongues is for every believer, they just need to desire it and seek it out from God.

Hey guys, it's awesome to hear you guys speaking on this much needed subject for the New testament church... One comment I would like to share & potentially brings some clarity on..? I'm a long time watcher of Jimmy Swaggart & have attended there yearly Campmeetings that they'd have... I'll tell you one thing without a doubt is neither Him or anyone on his platform has said you HAVE to speak in tongues in order to go to Heaven. Infact, on his TV network they've discussed that several times & would say the very opposite. They don't agree with that Apostolic movement & would speak negatively about it. Now it has been said that you're not baptized with the Holy Spirit UNLESS you speak in tongues... But not that it's mandatory for Heaven. Hope that potentially brings some clarity? I'm all for an open discussion on this topic with you guys...

God bless! We’ve been taught at my congregation that when we speak in tongues, it’s us speaking to God. And it does not always need to be interpreted. But I’ve also heard that we can control it at times, but from my experience, I haven’t been able to. However, when there is word from God, someone will speak in tongues and they then will interpret it. Because it’s for the congregation. It’s a very special gift I feel like. We also have been taught only 3 people should speak in tongues and interpret per service. So if there has been word to the church by 3 people, and a forth has word, they must keep quiet to keep order. We definitely need to seek God to better understand. ❤️ Thank you for being open and sharing your experience!

Yes what is interesting that we learned through researching this topic is that when people speak in tongues it is their spirit directly speaking to God. There is no need to speak in tongues to a congregation so if they have an interpreter what they should be interpreting should be some thing directed at God otherwise the people would just speak in the language of the church to the church

Love your alls boldness to share this topic. For my own personal experience, I sought after the baptism of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 19:2) coming from a Baptist church all my life to God leading me to a Pentecostal church. He began to open my eyes that there was so much more he wants to give us. I believe when we get saved we get the Holy Spirit. But there is an experience/gift of the baptism of the Holy Ghost, where the evidence is speaking in tongues. I sought after that gift for 10 years, and God baptized me with the Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking in tongues in January 2020. I remember seeing people do it, and I wanted it. I remember my husband prayed for me one day during a time of fasting and I noticed my tongue began to do something it had never done before. The very next day at church, I was at the altar praying to the Lord as I always did, and the Lord baptized me right there while I was praying and nobody else was around me, he just began to speak in tongues through me. It was all him, and none of me. Since then, I try to pray in the Spirit as often as I can (Ephesians 6:18). Long before I got the baptism of the Holy Ghost, my pastors wife told me one time while I was praying that I would have the gift of tongues. It didn’t happen to years later, but I haven’t stopped since then. We believe that when you get saved, you receive the Holy Spirit. Water baptism and then start seeking after the Holy Ghost spirit baptism. But it doesn’t save you. If you never receive the gift of tongues that doesn’t mean you aren’t saved.. but as my pastor at church says… we are gonna need the Holy Ghost baptism in the last days. We need all we can get from the Lord. But it doesn’t mean you aren’t saved, if you don’t. Seek and ye shall find. There is always much more with the Lord! Love your alls videos! And you all!

My understanding, is that there is a distinction between your prayer language, and speaking in tongues before the congregation for edification. I do speak in tongues, but as Paul said, things need to be done decently, and in order. I don’t pray in tongues every time I pray for people, because I am an intercessor, but there are times when I feel impressed that it’s necessary. It’s truly dangerous to say that somebody’s not saved because they don’t speak in tongues.

Love that you guys made this video. I know it's controversial for many. I do think that when we say that God is a God of order... we need to remember that what we might view as order, and what God views as order could be different. God is sovereign. And when someone encounters Him, it's very possible that the response might from my view, seem very disorderly. But God's perspective might be different. Not to say that people screaming, shouting and rolling on the floor is necessarily a sign of God. I think what I'm saying is just... to not necessarily judge things at face value. Even the prophet thought that Hannah was drunk judging by what her worship looked like, not realising that she was actually pouring her heart out to God. When the Lord delivers you from depression, that might look like uncontrollable laughter. And when He touches your heart in a place of brokenness, it may lead to "wordless groans" (Romans 8:26) that might make me, as the observer, feel quite uncomfortable. I think that's where the gift of discernment is really important. Anyways, love the video though, and always enjoy hearing your perspective on things. Videos like this make for good conversations with God and with one another. So, thanks for sharing your experience!

Amen! I was about to comment the same thing. This is the plan of salvation. In the same chapter that Jesus says “if you love me, keep my commands”, John 14:15. He also says “the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name (“my name” being Jesus), will teach you all things and will remind you of everything that I have said to you”. I recommend reading the full passage of verses 15-31 of John chap 14. The promise of the Holy Ghost wasn’t fulfilled till the day of Pentecost in Act 2. Just like y’all were saying that speaking in tongues is a way your heart speaks to God. The Spirit intercedes for you and it strengthens you. Romans 8. Jesus was God manifested in the flesh. You see him talking to himself when he says “Let US make man in OUR own image” Gen 1:26. I totally agree with Sutton when she said that if you don’t get to pick and choose what you want from the Bible. This isn’t a buffet line. Lol You either believe the whole Bible or you don’t. Jesus reveals Himself to those that are seeking Him and are hungry for more of Him. You DO have to be careful who you are listening to and allowing to pour into your empty cup. If you are hungry for more of Him, pray that God leads you to the right people that know how to discern His Word. You don’t want to be deceived by those that speak Him name and at the end, you hear Him say “depart from me, I never knew you” Matt 7:21-23.

I got saved at 15, filled with the Holy Spirit. It was some time later I got the gift of tongues. When I’m going through warfare, I switch into praying in tongues! Careful about explaining drunk in the spirit, but look more to the fruit. I do agree, some churches are in error of that but doesn’t mean it’s all wrong. Happy in spirit is good! Look at Acts 2, for they are not drunk as you suppose for this is but the 3rd hour of the day. 😄Keep it in context: taking clothes off is not same as looking like your drunk. God is not a God of confusion for sure, but if one is filled with the joy of The Lord; dancing around is not confusion. God is not to be in a box, to make us feel comfortable. I remember once my hubby wasn’t speaking nice to me, and God protected my heart that I started laughing so hard…turned out, he started to laugh. So you see, to us we may not understand Gods ways: for they are higher then ours.

Tongues is for EVERY believer. We receive it by faith. This whole christian walk is about faith. We're the ones who have to step out in faith and receive. If it wasn't for every believer, that would make God a respecter of persons which He absolutely is not. Will all speak in tongues? Of course not because they believe that it is not for everyone and also some can't be bothered to go after spiritual things. Does it make u a sinner if u don't speak in tongues? No of course not unless u r in sin. I was also bought up on the teaching that tongues isn't for everyone but that made me go after it harder and I received my heavenly language. God is no respector its for our children, our childrens children. Every promise in the Bible is YES and AMEN. Christ has given us everything we need for this life. So for those of u out there who hunger for this manifestation of the spirit, the only thing I can suggest is that u open up your mouth in faith and SPEAK!!

Speaking in tongues was a spiritual gift. The “gift” part was that it was TRANSLATED, for the benefit of believers in Christ. It is NOT a private/personal thing. From my understanding of speaking in tongues, mainly from 1 Corinthians 14, if you are in a gathering and everyone is speaking in tongues there needs to be an interpreter. However, in verse 2 it clearly says that a man speaking in tongues speaks to God. What I get from this is that being alone or speaking in tongues where others can’t hear is great.

So I lived with my dad from when I was 10 until I was 12 and grounded to my room, when I wasn't at school or doing manual labor, the whole 2 years and right outside my bedroom window is a church and every night he would make me read the Bible out loud to him before I would "go to sleep" and he would come back in my room a couple hours later and if I wasn't "sleeping" he would physically abuse me and I would get grounded for longer and the one time I was sleeping, I woke up quite unpleasantly so I would lay in bed after reading the Bible out loud to my father every night and pretend to be asleep until he came back in my room and, scared to death, I would have to just lay there and keep my body and eyes as tight as I could so he couldn't touch me and try to tell myself it wasn't happening and that alone steered me away from God for some years and when I was 16 I opened a Bible for the first time since I was 12 (mind you I was already a high school dropout and my mom had been doing hard drugs with me and my boyfriend, that my addict mother allowed to move in when I was only 14, for a year or so and I was just so lost. But when I had my experience me and my ex were living at my real moms(which is actually my Grandma that raised me) and we had been doing better, we were still doing drugs but we were working and trying to do better and a five finger death punch song, called wrong side of heaven and my ex's deceased papa, whom I never met, coming to me in a dream is what led us to open the Bible and I would just read out loud to him whenever he asked me to because even though it was hard for me, I could see it was helping him and one night I'm reading and I start slowing down or something and he just kept saying "keep reading, keep reading" and as I'm reading he's somewhat convulsive and then it was like something came out of him and his body relaxed and we were both just crying but it felt so good yet a little scary at the same time. The next day, he was at work and I went to see his mom because it felt like my tongue was swelling at the back of my throat and I was making weird uncontrollable sounds and it just got more intense at her house, which I later learned is where I was conceived, and I was just so scared and did not know what was happening and I've opened the Bible like 3 times since and it tends to happen every time I get into the words of the Bible. I'm just very recently becoming curious to know more and not let it scare me so yeah I hope to know more on this topic one day.

I really believe that the main reason for the gift of tongues is prayerful worship especially when we don't know how to pray for someone or in a given situation. To deny the gift is to lose a valuable tool of communication with God. To make it a proof of being filled with the Spirit is to say the other gifts have no value. It is sad that so many in the chasmatic movement don't obey scripture in its use. No one is special because they have the gift. They are just more responsible to be in intercession.

Yes I speak in tongues. For more than 20 years now. As you say, its a gift, you dont have to receive it to be saved. But as gifts generally are good for you, selected or created with care and love by the person giving it, I beleive it is a good thing to receive this as well. Similarly, God wants to bless you financialy, with good health and other things, but you can go through life in sickness or lack, if you dont stand on Gods word for it. In that case you are only going to get the gift of salvation. Which is more than we deserve, but you still could have more already on this earth! But I dont agree with one thing Sutton said. I beleive God wants to give this gift to everyone and also in my experience I can tell that God is faithful and he gives to anyone who asks, so I never saw someone not getting gift of tongues if he desired it. And dont be afraid of devil tongues or what, God doesnt give you stone when you ask for bread. And I beleive this gift is to be kept. He doent withraw it, but you can reject the gift after you taste it or give it on the shelf and never use again. Its your choice, God doesnt force anyone to do anything. But this gift is a great thing to use everyday during your personal prayer time. It doesnt need to be wild as Nate experienced, I can normaly use my brain, but it always bring me closer to God and often when there is a problem, the solution or ideas comes to my mind during prayer in tongues or worship even when I wasnt focused on that at all. Praise Jesus!

Okay my question, where are the interpreters? Bc what if "speaking in tongues" is just a different way of saying speaking other languages... and there's translators translating into other languages for people to understand. Act 2, when they were all together in one place, the room was filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues. Keep reading and it says that people from every nation can understand their language. Bc like, if you hear someone talking in Russian or Italian, or whatever and you don't know that langauge, it can sound like you're drunk or making weird sounds. But like you said, God is not a God of confusion. So why do something that confuses people, people need an "interpreter", and even you don't know what you're saying. So that's my challenge to this... you're you. You should praise and speak to God just by praying. I would much rather know what I'm saying vs saying gibberish or even spells of some sort thinking I'm talking to God. Sorry but that's one thing I don't find any understanding. Not here to argue but using Acts 2, it makes no sense to speak in something that people don't understand. Speak in tongues, aka, other languages and spread the word of God to others so that we can all Glorify and praise God.

There are multible types of tongues in the bible. 1Cor 13 and 14 are refering to toungues of angels, while you mentioned in Acts 2 it is simply a human foreign language which is in the NT alot too. Romans 8 refers to tongues we do not understand being used for private prayer being useful because he is praying for the Church according to his perfect will. Meaning it doesn't matter if you understand as long as you are saying what God has you to say

@@dysonwitwer6430 as I've studied that passage in context "tongues of angels" is being used by Paul in hyperbole to make a point about love. Just as to 'understand all mysteries and knowledge' 'move mountains' 'bestow all I have to feed the poor' and 'give my body to be burned' in the following verses. All of these amazing things, would they be humanly possible, would be useless without love.

@Dyson Witwer @Dyson Witwer again, why say something that you don't know? As stated, God is not a God of confusion. It's why drinking is okay but getting Drunk is bad. When you get in a state of mind that you're not sure what's going on and what you're saying, that's bad. That's sin. 1 Corinthians 14:9 So likewise you, unless you utter by the tongue words easy to understand, how will it be known what is spoken? For you will be speaking into the air. Even that verse, why speak something if you don't understand what you're saying

@@TheOhboy300 it says it in Romans 8. God is not a God of confusion. He(God) who searches the heart knows the Spirit's mind-set, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. He prays perfectly and for things you don't know. He is not confused. Not everything is about you or you having to grow in knowledge or be in on something. Many things God has you do is for humbling you, and he won't tell you everything. That is why it is called faith. Its about helping others by praying perfectly about things you cant know/ havent prayed, not about your brain or fleshly knowledge. Look at the many tests God gives people to test their faith, with Jacob and the sheep, Abraham almost killing Isaac, Jesus with the spit in the dirt for the blind man, Gideon and giving away the army, or the leper dipping 7 times for healing. Do not act like God doesn't ask us to do things we do not fully understand. Its also not always about you.

@Dyson Witwer exactly, I can pray for the unknown. I can trust God to help me through the unknown. I've done things not knowing why, but I won't ever be in a state of mind that makes me not know what I'm doing. Aka, being on drugs, drunk... etc. That's a sin.

This is awesome video. For me and what I’ve learnt about speaking in tongues it’s a gift everyone has access to it’s a way you can speak to God with out the devil understanding what you are saying because only God understands it and it’s a way to speak to God when you just don’t know what to pray you can have amazing breakthrough in prayer when speaking in tongues
@TheHawkinsNest Жыл бұрын
Do you know what you are saying when you speak in tongues? Can somebody else hear you speak the “gibberish” or can they understand you as well?
@DanielleHNewZealand Жыл бұрын
Speaking in tongues is only for God to interpret and know what we are saying as it’s a gift he has given us to speak to him only.

“And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:” Acts 2:17 "45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God..." Acts 10: 45-46 Speaking in tongues was the sign that accompanied the baptism of the Holy Ghost in scriptures and was the sign the Apostles looked for as identifying the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Great that you had this experience!

Hello Nate and Sutton, I hope you're doing well with your family, children, your business and everything! 😊 First of all, I would like to thank you for everything you do on this Channel... for the advice you give, and the encouragement you are to a lot more than you think! Whether it's 'spiritual'/'godly' advice or else, you always try and back it up with the word of God. Also, I really appreciate the fact that you are not afraid to speak and share your thoughts on controversial subjects. On this video, I would like to go back to something Sutton said in the end of the video, about Jesus never speaking in tongues and share my thoughts. (Hoping you'll see the comment 😅) I did agree with what you said, this is a really good point. But I would also like to give another point of view. What I think is that, it's kind of 'logical' that Jesus didn't speak in tongues, -although the Holy Spirit was upon him- given that He (Jesus) had to rise from the dead and go to heaven in order for the Holy Spirit to be sent to the disciples. If you see this comment, I would like know what you think too. [I would also like to encourage Sutton to not be afraid to give advice on how to discipline your children. I really think it could and will be very helpful to people who are actually eager to know how to do a better job at raising their children, and not just trying to nitpick or else.. 🫶] Once again, thank you for everything, God bless you and your family! Lots of love 🥰🤍

Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Speaking in tongues is evidence of the Holy Ghost. John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. The Bible states “except a man be born of the water (meaning being baptized in Jesus name) and of the spirit(receiving the Holy Ghost) he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. So I do believe speaking in tongues is relevant in our salvation. Not commenting this to start anything just to educate someone 🤷🏻♀️love you’re videos!!! you guys are such an inspiration🩷🩷

Thank you for being so honest about your experiences and beliefs. What do you think it means to be baptised by the spirit? Also, how often are you going to post videos from now on? Thanks for your KZbin ministry!!

I was prayed over like Nate, before I was saved and they would not stop til I did it so I faked it HAHA mortifying. So glad God saved me later in life since then and He can do it without it it’s all about the heart 😍💕

Wow I‘m really amazed at how much I agree with you. I‘m especially glad you mentioned the interpreter aspect as well as demons imitating that gift. One more thing: Gifts are given even without repentance (I don’t remember the scripture right now, might look it up later), which makes the „only tongues show you‘re saved“ doctrine even more obviously nonsensical. Also: a preacher selling signed bibles is one of the most shocking actions of a supposed spiritual leader that I have heard thus far. It keeps getting crazier and crazier…

Hey y'all, love your content! I also believe in "speaking in tongues". the bible makes it clear that this is the evidence of one having the Holy ghost/holy spirit. You can find all the information that you need to know about speaking in tongues" in Acts chapter 2. This gift is for all those who seek God. have a good one yall.

From what I studied there is a difference with praying in tongues and speaking in tongues (speaking in tongues is the one that needs to be interpreted) not sure if you addressed it that way.😊 But look up Isaiah saldivar , he has so much knowledge. God bless , you guys are awesome❤️
