No idea how much you're into the community side of things to really be aware of it, but just a heads up, the developers of Arknights are releasing their first paid game in late February. It's called "Ex Astris" and is only $10 on Android or the Apple store. They haven't released a ton of info on it, but they say it's a mix of turn based and real time combat, and it's a story driven rpg. They have also hinted at the possibility of a PC release later on, but said they were going to focus on the mobile release first and foremost. It might be worth checking out when it comes out. They're also working on Arknights: Endfield, which is an action based spin off taking place in another world, and features at least a couple of characters from the main game.

@@laby1827 yeah the first jetpack guy that fell in a hole was from Annihilation 3 (lungmen downtown) and he became a meme that the community named Kevin, and the devs totaly embraced the meme to the point it's not rare to see jetpack guys landing directly on hole tiles, and they canonized his name with a backstory linking him to Ethan (since Ethan is an ex reunion member) Kevin second apparition was also in CC#0 where he land on the flame tiles and die (as a implied tuto that you can use them to kill enemies) and some peoples memed by trying to save him and send him into the blue box.

I played tower defense since Warcraft 3 and I tried a few new ones that came out over the years, but let's be honest, Arknights blows them all out of the water in terms of creativity and complexity, not to mention the above average story and the exceptional world building.

My favorite aspect of Arknights is that the game doesn't lock your progression through RNG, I cannot tell you how refreshing it felt to go from fruitlessly farming relics in genshin to being able to actually build characters (meta or not) in Arknights

Not all operators have rock cancer. Beanstalk doesn't have oripathy and and uses no magic to be a crab breeder. We're sending her into combat with her pets and a xbow, nothing more.

Welcome aboard. Arknights is actually quite generous gacha game and majority of operators are both easy to raise as well as viable through entire game. Also the falling jetpack guy into the hole is Kevin.

I've been playing Arknights for 4 years now. I got Swire Alter for free in this event and Texas Alter with my free pulls on her event. However, I've also had to go to 300 pulls twice on limited banners so it can go both ways. That being said I've always been careful and saved my pulls so I never got into a situation where I had to spend or I wouldn't get the character I wanted. Now I have 73 6* and 279 operators. Where I think Arknights is most generous has nothing to do with gacha rates or pity but the way the recruit system and yellow cert store work. I've seen other games with something similar to the yellow certificate store but often times you can only get potentials from it, never new operators or other similar drawbacks that make it not as good as Arknights. I've never seen anything like recruitment in other gacha games that I've tried. The other thing I like is the banners that guarantee a new 6* on the 1st 6* you pull. These mechanics let me patiently wait out the 6* that I missed and focus only on new and limited 6* then fill the holes in my collection when they come to the certificate store. You do have to be very patient for this strategy though. Currently the oldest 6* I'm missing is Horn and the most amount of time it will possibly take to get her is 28 weeks when she will come to the yellow certificate store. The downside to this strategy is that I'll never be at 100% 6* because there will always be a few that I just have to wait patiently for but lord knows I already have more than enough to handle anything the game throws at me.

@@ian59 i agree. It has loads of things that make it rewarding. The store outside of real money is nice. I have not spent much real money in the game. I only started back in September at tail end of MH collab. But have gotten quite a bit of operators because of how many dif ways u can get operators. Even if u spend lil to no money. And i know that once stronger i can get more free with completed Anihilation missions n stuff. I only started playing because of finding Lappland and Texas while collecting Waifu cards. Lol.

Arknights is what I use as an example of what a gacha can be. Yes, there is microtransactions, and yes there is incentive to spend to get characters or progress quicker early on. They aren't mandatory and if you can resist the urge to spend money, (or only spend in moderation if you're willing to spend), then you get a great story, some very well thought out characters, and some of the best world building I've seen out of pretty much any form of media short of a full series of novels. Not to mention that as a general rule of thumb, I really don't like tower defense games, but I can't count the times I've replayed stages just for fun, or spent hours playing the rougelike mode, and I'm always looking forward to playing around with new characters and seeing what sort of setups I can come up with. That is what makes a game truly stand out to me, when it can make people say, "this game is an exception".

One thing I have to point out is that Infection doesnt necessarily make you better at Arts. Any ununfected person with an Arts Unit can be highly competent at casting Arts (for example, Skyfire). Being Infected only allows you to cast Arts without an Arts Unit, but at the cost of accelerating your Infection because you are literally using your body as a conduit. Fun stuff Anyways, I'm glad to see you playing the game!

I picked up this game during the monster hunter event because I just really wanted the palicos in their alternate costumes, meanwhile I got yato as my first 6 star, 2 of them even. She was considered a top tier operator so she became my favorite real fast. However gacha games are my bane when I try to whale for favorite characters, so now I'm raging over pulling 145 times and getting 4 swire alters back to back when all I wanted was literally any of the other limited units. At least I hope I can save enough for typhon now.

Hey man, you should probably look into making a NAS, with RAID 1 configuration at least. That way, your files are safer and you won't get hit by this sort of setback again. If you are seriously trying to be a content creator, this is a must. Even on my own computer, I had hard drives that do backup regularly, and that's just normal in-use files, not cold storage.

I started playing a lot of gachas on new years (since they typically have rewards lol). Blue archive, arknights, epic seven, and nikke (planning to play pgr soon, and when zzz comes out, that as well). So far epic seven has been my favorite gameplay wise, there is so much to do and grind for. Especially if you watch diety's guide videos on youtube. Nikke has the best story and voice acting, which is kind of funny. Doesn't seem like that sort of game. Blue archive is cute, i love the art style and the overall aesthetic. Gameplay is on (my) slightly weaker end. (but it has the most batshit insane players omg lmao) and finally Arknights is the game i just haven't gotten completely into lol. I love the artstyle and the fact that it is a tower defense, but there is so much to think about and learn. After my epic seven grind, I will definitely have to jump into the game since I was super lucky during my rerolls and got eyja alter (x2) and swire alter. :) (edit: this video was hilarious lol)

I believe it is the best gatcha out there, because its the only one i play, and gatcha doesn't really appeal to me, but AK does, because I don't feel like the company hates the player base, and the gameplay is solid, as I think that the bones of AK could work as a single player non gatcha game. I can't say this for the majority of gatcha games.

1:50 This is incorrect, and a common misconception. Oripathy CAN but does not always increase the potency of someone's Arts. In fact, it sometimes worsens them. The only surefire correlation between Oripathy and Arts is that the Infected can cast without an Originium Arts unit (i.e., a wand, or any other such Originium-based device that serves as a catalyst for casting), as they can use the Originium on their bodies as an Arts unit. Doing so also causes your Oripathy to kill you faster, so you should not actually do that.
