I went to a wedding in milton Keynes in 2019 and needed somewhere cheap to stay. For £25 for the inside room, plus a fiver to look after my bag, you can't go wrong! I'd stay in one again, no hesitation. I spent more on the taxi fare heading back from the wedding to the hotel lol. I was in the room for about 7 hours. Worth it.

Stayed in two of these. One in London and the other in Amsterdam. As long as you see it as just a place to dump your stuff and sleep, they’re ok. Have to say though, the standard of cleanliness in the Amsterdam hotel was a cut above the London offering. And that’s not a window, that’s an arrow slit!

Hey Tim! I love your videos! My husband and I watch all the time! We live in the US and I love seeing all the different places we could stay when we ever get to come to the UK. On a side note, I am stunned that there are hotel rooms that dont have windows or very small windows. In the US its illegal for a habitable room to not have a window large enough to exit in case of emergency.

I've stayed in the one in Croydon many times. The lack of storage space is also my number one complaint. But overall, the concept works for me and I'll keep coming back. Amazing bed, nice shower head, good water pressure, good location, those are the main things I'm looking for in a hotel. I don't need to have my room cleaned every day and I'm happy living out of my suitcase for a week or so, especially when I'm paying half of what comparable "budget" hotels charge.

In the US it would be illegal. A bedroom must have 2 ways of egress - and the window, as one of them, is required to be large enough for a fireman in full gear to walk through. This has safety issues.

That is a very good point about the fire safety. You’d have to MAKE sure you knew how to get out, and I mean not just check the fire exits, I mean walk round and just weigh it up and look round. You never know, but if you look round and something bad happens your survival mode will kick in and all the stuff your subconscious picked up on will help you get help or get out.

In a way it's a pity Mount Eccles' Court Hostel in Dublin is no longer around because that would have made a terrific video back in about 2010! It was dirt-cheap, ten Euros a night in a dorm, but properly rundown. Doors that had clearly been bashed in at least once and barely opened anymore, very wonky steel bunk beds, lights barely hanging by the wires, bubbling, dirty brown lino in the showers, sockets falling out of the walls, everything. Judging by the web site they did do it up really nicely a few years later though. Budget accommodation in Dublin was interesting at that time. Stayed in four hostels, looked at another two I think, didn't like any of them. Other Irish cities had some absolutely amazing hostels though, I really enjoyed my trip!

Clean and comfortable and staff was friendly too. Location fantastic also very central literally 5 minutes walk from the cavern club

I stayed in the Croydon one a few times over the years. On two occasions the walk in shower was flooded all over the bathroom floor and at least once we had an early morning alarm call and had to exit the building between 6 and 7am as someone had (yet again) set off the fire alarm. Never again.

I’d rather stay somewhere like this with no frills than a dusty Britannia hotel, only drawbacks for me would be the general lack of space and a claustrophobic feeling and no hot drinks in your room. Kinda reminds me of an Ibis budget hotel I stayed in a few years back but that room was a bit bigger than this one (still smaller than a Premiere Inn room)

Hey Tim, I've noticed in your hotel reviews that you miss out on wheelchair/disability access and facilities. I understand you obviously wouldn't stay in a room thats disablity adapted yourself, but there's other things you could look for: Ramps, accessibility etc. I'm sure there's people who watch these videos that would be interested. 💕

No frosted glass essential as we have had a couple of sales reps stay in these rooms so you have to provide some privacy. It was only meant to be for one person but if you go out for a few drinks then sometimes it isn’t unusual for someone to share your room. I have done it myself when someone says come on have a drink you can crash in my room and if you are anything like me that’s an invitation you are not going to turn down. This room has everything you need for a break and chances are you are not going to spend much time there anyway.

I’d heard of them but never properly looked at them to be honest. I can’t say I’m impressed as a disabled traveller. I looked on their website and they do offer accessible rooms however the bed was tucked in a corner and only accessible from one side meaning either my husband or I would have to climb over the other to get in and out of bed. That’s not accessible at all! I checked a few locations and dates to see if this was standard but others either had no photo of the bed location or didn’t even have accessible rooms available. We couldn’t use a standard room as no space for my rollator. So sadly no bargain rooms for us.
