Hi Chris. Thanks for the history and hotel tour. Love the rustic look of the outside and the historic look of the inside. Wonderful place to stay with great views of the Grand Canyon.The sunrise and sunset must be amazing. The pictures doesn't capture the feeling of being there. Thanks for sharing and take care.

I tried to make reservations 4 months before going to the Grand Canyon and the only thing available was a room at the Kachina lodge. It looked like a very clean motel room, but you payed top dollar. The good thing is it had a heater and AC. If it was available I would have stayed at El Tovar, but you need to book preferably 1year in advance. I believe wherever you stay inside the Grand Canyon, it’s definitely worth it! The views are spectacular! ❤

Loved the information and footage of the hotel during its conception. YP4L! That prickly pear syrup looked fire!

The bathroom looks Exactly like the one that was in my Grandmas house in Long Island, NY, at least from when I was always there in the late 1970’s….

I completely agree with the "nitpicks." When you pay that much money, even at the Grand Canyon, you expect you'll at least have REAL tissues, branded shampoo (even if they're the tiny bottles), and a mini fridge that actually opens all the way.

Thanks for backing me up on the nitpicks 😀

Hah. Yes. The bathroom was definitely the nicest part of the room

The El Tovar is beautiful and I would love to stay there one day. Bright Angel was actually pretty comfortable in July. Even though it's summer, the temperature got down to the 60s overnight, so I just left the window open.

Thanks for the report on the temperature at Bright Angel in the summer

15:39 I agree Chris, when you are paying decent money, and I consider decent money $300 / $400 + per night, house keeping should be standard. I recently stayed in a high end hotel in Sydney, Australia. Stunning hotel, amazing rooms, high quality linen, though the welcome pack politely advises of no house keeping. Perhaps its a sign of the times, hotels looking to cut costs etc. Its not issue really for a few nights, but for a week this becomes a problem I think.

Bright Angel, much bigger rooms,easier getting luggage to, much brighter with all the windows, Bright Angel trail right there and best off all half the price..Stayed at the BA many times location and privacy unbeatable plus room much more rustic with the GC feeling. Only con much smaller bathroom. ET rooms much more like motel rooms, parking ???, but enjoyed breakfast there ...and touring it...

This does look like a nice hotel with an amazing location. The price is too expensive… but you are paying for the location. Unfortunately, most hotels and resorts we have encountered are still using Covid as an excuse to not vide daily housekeeping services. That may be a thing of the past. Thanks for this hotel review!

Good review. I would pick the Bright Angel. Even though rooms are expensive these days, that is not a $443 room. :/

Have you ever used the Amex concierge service? If so was it worth it?
@YellowProductions7 ай бұрын
Hi Derek.. not Amex.. I have used the concierge with Chase Sapphire to make restaurant reservations at a sushi restaurant in Japan that only took phone reservations in Japanese
@paulstein9167 ай бұрын
Chris, I was wondering how far in advance do you have to reserve a room there?
@ElizabethLopez-ve6lq7 ай бұрын
To play it safe, 1 year in advance. I tried making reservations 4 months in advance and was not able to stay at El Tovar. I found this happens with all national parks. I tried making reservations at the prime hotel inside Yosemite 1 year in advance and it was booked. I kept on moving my vacation date but was never able to get reservations. I settled for the second best hotel. I will see how that goes soon. My advice is to call the hotel and become familiar with their reservation process and ask how far in advance you can make reservations. Wherever you stay inside the Grand Canyon, it’s spectacular and truly worth it. Good luck!

Also, the front of the hotel is dark, causing me to miss a step off from the curb and fall. Saw another guest do exactly the same thing not 60 seconds later.

If you enjoy having to park a mile from your room, go for it.
@herschelmayo27273 ай бұрын
Skip it and stay at a lodge at Glacier.

Thanks for showing me where not to stay. 👍
@herschelmayo27273 ай бұрын
Cheap everything. No daily room refresh is unexcusable at that price. No reserved parking is a killer. You possibly will have to drive a mile to find a place in the evening, and walk that to the hotel. The front steps are barely lit at all, causing me to fall when I stepped off a curb I couldn't see. Recovering from my dings, sitting and nursing my bruises, I watched another guest do the exact same thing. They don't care about any liability. Save your money, go to Glacier and spend a night at a lodge there.

$460 a night and you expect daily housekeeping, what will Americans think up next 😂 😂 😂

I guess you’re paying so much for the location. Just walk outside at the Grand Canyon.
