Considering Catholicism coming from Protestantism. I've been reading lots and experiencing with praying the rosary/novena/asking for the intercession of saints. I feel so at peace and spiritually nurished when I do so, its awesome.

Catholicism is the real deal. Not to sound mean, but Protestantism is like imitation crab meat. It may taste like crab meat, but it's not. Ya know...do a youtube search on a lady named Nikki Kingsley watch her tell her story.

I am very attracted to the life of religious sisters/nuns. I am actually discerning for religious life, but I am having a difficult time finding which community to explore. So prayers would be greatly appreciated🙏❤. I really enjoyed your insights in this video Amber, I really relate to your personality as an introvert as well! May the divine assistance remain always with us. And may the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Thanks for sharing with us Amber Rose. As a diocesan seminarian I remember my time discerning with a very traditional Franciscan Order. It was an interesting experience, and a very penitential life. We prayed the traditional hours, no heat in the middle of winter, wooden beds. When I was there you could get the sense of the holiness of this life. The superior would ask me during our recreation time, if I was hungry, and cold. Then he mentioned that he would meet men who had so many desires and hopes that they would do for the church. And you prick those men for one day, all they wanna do is to go home. I was looking into religious life, thinking that I wanted to live a life that is the most holy, but I learned that even though the religious life could be seen as a more holy life, it doesn’t mean that God wants you to live that life. You don’t have to be a religious or a priest to live a holy life. God bless you!

Twelve years into marriage and six kids, and the very first time I felt called to have children was at a Dominican go-and-see day. I receive certainty in the vocation of marriage that day, even though I was deeply desiring to be called to religious life. God is so good and so generous. If you are trying to pursue Him, He will make it for your benefit! He is the giver of all good gifts!!

i'm english and also an orthodox christian, and i'm praying that i might one day be able to visit the St John the Baptist monastery down in Essex and perhaps stay a few days. I know as i am now i'd make a terrible monk and i'm far too young (and also not even baptised yet) to be making claims like "i'm gonna be a monk" but i'd absolutely love the opportunity to even just speak to some monks, especially some from my own home country, let alone stay a few days with them and really put myself up to the monastic test. This video helped me realise that it's a very possible thing for me to do, and also that it's not as if i visit for a weekend and then i'm locked in for life and have to break up with my girlfriend on the spot or anything like that, so thanks :)

Hello beautiful Amber Rose! I was wondering, is there a way you got to really KNOW and get so confident in what you were being called to in terms of your vocation? (I love that you're so confident that your vocation is marriage!) I'm sorry, I'm new to your fantastic channel and if there's a video you've already made covering this, or Q/A session I missed, I'd be so grateful if you may link it!

30 years is the best time. Maturity has set in. I prefer priest to be ordained at older age. If I have my order.
@gray_mara
@gray_mara 2 жыл бұрын
@@goodman4093 Many contemplative religious orders will not take a postulant who is over 30, as centuries of experience have shown them that older people are not as flexible as younger, are more independent and self willed. The formation process requires a LOT of flexibility. The longer an aspirant delays, the more likely the vocation will be lost.

@mattherrera2659
@mattherrera2659 2 жыл бұрын
I suggest you listen to Matt Fradd’s interview with the sister who thought marriage was her vocation! Most sister’s and priest want marriage because it’s awesome and a very good life to live. Some of them, a lot of them, wanted marriage up to the day they made their final promises and vowels! But they decided to say yes to God instead because they realize that they’re going to give up something awesome for God. It’s not like giving up sin for God. It’s giving up something we want that’s good for God!!
@goodman4093
@goodman4093 2 жыл бұрын
Not true. I don't know where you got your statistics from. Once you have encountered God you cannot desire the other. He is not a God of confusion. If you are still double minded you arent fit for a vocation
@mattherrera2659
@mattherrera2659 2 жыл бұрын
@@goodman4093 Statistics? It’s knowing a lot of men and women who are currently nuns, priest and seminarians. Regular and normal men and women who see the value of what God began in the beginning, middle and end,in the Bible,about marriage, have given up or offered up this beautiful reality, called marriage for the kingdom of God!
@goodman4093
@goodman4093 2 жыл бұрын
@@mattherrera2659 I think it is an abnormality. St faustina ask for grace of chastity and she said at that moment thoughts of marriage or sex left her. If one still think marriage is better than ones vocation I think something is seriously wrong.
@mattherrera2659
@mattherrera2659 2 жыл бұрын
@@goodman4093 Statistics and abnormality sounds like the pharisees and Sadducees. I didn’t say anything about marriage being “better” than a vocation. I am saying that one can acknowledge the giving up of something good and beautiful for the kingdom of God! To me it’s totally normal to appreciate and acknowledge the beauty in a woman or man that leads to a normal vocation of marriage. And I acknowledge that it’s normal for a man or woman to have a vocation to the religious life for the kingdom of God instead of the procreation of children in the vocation of marriage.
@gray_mara

@@mattherrera2659 For example, St Teresa of Avila didn't want to be a nun. She had to force herself to walk through the convent door, and later said she felt like a lion was breaking all her bones. I know many religious sisters who report similar feelings.

I have health issues that prevent me from being a priest or a friar, but I’ve tried. However, those same issues aren’t necessarily a ban on marriage and children, although bipolar is passed down genetically and in the Catholic Church, one must be open to life in order to marry, and ideally, you tell your girlfriend before she’s your finance. However, maybe permanent singleness is my vocation. I don’t know.

@Trinity M I don’t know what to do ultimately. Right now I’m not looking until I can support someone (with the combination of SSDI disability and the amount from a part time job*) but that may happen. *As of 2022, I will have $966 per month in SSDI disability. As of 2022, one can make up to $970 per month from a job or self employment (Uber, Lyft and etc counts) without entering one’s trial work period. It was $940 in 2021 and $910 in 2020. Also, if you are self employed, you can only work up to 80 hours per month without entering one’s trial work period. Also, one receives Medicare when on disability for at least two years. Part A (Hospital) is free, but Parts B and D have premiums and deductibles. Ideally, you can combine Parts A, B and D, and get vision and dental into a single Part C which has its pros and cons.

Interesting experience. I don't believe marriage or a religious order are the only options, there are people who stay single (because they simply may not have found a compatible partner) and get a job outside of a religious vocation and that's fine too.
