My mom worked labor and delivery for 30 years and she got a needle stick by a hepatitis positive patient once. It was such a scary time for her! She said the moment she saw the hole in her glove, her entire body went cold. THANKFULLY she was cleared but for almost 2 months it was a stressful time because as Kathleen said, she had to be rechecked like 8 weeks later and until the second negative test, she was terrified! Definitely not overreacting at all.

Luisa Brito my parents were drug users, and unfortunately, I got a used needle stuck in my foot from just walking through my kitchen when I was like 10. Luckily, my mom never had any stds and my dad didn’t get hepatitis until years later.

You are NOT overreacting at all Kathleen! I'm a nurse and accidental needle sticks are very serious! SO glad you're okay!
@lindsayoldread51165 жыл бұрын
But definitely don't recap needles or lancets and definitely do not throw them away. That really increases the chances of an accidental poke. They should always be disposed of in a proper sharps container and taken to whatever your local facilities are for sharps incineration. All cities have them!

Girl you did all the right things! I’m a nurse and I’ve had exposures like that as well requiring bloodwork to check for hepatitis, so I know how you feel! I’m glad you’re okay :)
