I had the ID.3 for 3,5 years. I got all off the bugs ever reported, had the car at the dealer 12--23 times the first 2 years, and only got 1 real OTA during the 3,5 years I owned the car. Just sold the car, and replaced it with Megane E-tech. Earlier I've always owned VW, but after the ID.3, I will never buy a VW again. So far I am very happy with my new Megane. No bugs yet, and much higher interior than the ID.3. It pains to see that VW still are having issues with their software. Why not just go for Android Automotive?

I have the new 2024 ID4 and zero software issues with it. I think they fixed the problems for the most part. No thanks to Android automotive, the absolute last thing I need is Google spyware in my car

There is android underneath it all.... But Google does not get all the info if you do not use their Auto. Knowledge is power.

For the last five years, the only Air the updates work in is inside VW workshops.

So basically, you spent 60,000 euros just to be annoyed every time you sit in your new car. I'm joking, of course. ;) I find your content very interesting and appreciate your honesty about the issues you find in your car. It's sad to see how the ID lineup continues to do serious damage to the VW brand. Imagine this situation: It's 2013, and you just bought a new Golf VII. You notice the wipers start to wipe with a 10-second delay, and the radio switch can't actually turn the radio off-you can only turn it off when you turn off the entire vehicle. You bring your new Golf VII to the service center, and the mechanic decides the switches are faulty. Three hours of work later, your problems are fixed. You have new wipers and a new radio button, and you drive your Golf VII happily ever after. Buying a software-based vehicle means continuous problems due to the insane complexity of the new 'smart' cars. I doubt we'll ever again have that carefree car-owning experience like the owner of that Golf VII. And I'm afraid that BEVs just aren't the answer to the pollution problem we're trying to solve. I'm sticking with ICE cars for the foreseeable future.

Wow, it seems your car have the silver coated windshield(for better heat isolation in summer and electronically heating the windshield). To verify this, can you please check if there is a word like "IR-H" printed nearby the "A/HUD" word located at left-front edge of the driver side of the windshield? Note, the following content applies to all cars made by the Volkswagen group: The character A of the "A/HUD" suggests the PVB layer of the laminated windshield is acoustic enhanced, which helps isolate noise from outside the car better than the conventional laminated windshield. This word can also be found in some windows of the doors, if they are laminated instead of single layer. The "HUD" of the "A/HUD" indicates the windshield is designed for a certain kind of HUD, that in the context of ID.7, it is AR-HUD. The "IR-H" refers to some sort of advanced heat isolation adopted in the windshield.

the 12 volt should be charged when the car is charging. (or at least just charge slowly)

12 volt battery thing is the only serious one in my view, others are annoying but easily fixable with software update.I had a 12 volt warning in my model 3 after 3 years and tesla mobile service changed battery under warranty. It might be hardware issue if only with your ID-7 unless other owners are having same issue.

I got OTA update with the Enyaq to "3.7" but it did not prevent the puddle light to consume its graphics (really looks molten), a well known flaw! Why no ota fix, now I have to go to the workshop - wasted time/money.🙈

Puddle light problem is not a software error, it is from water ingress.

i bought a polo 30 years ago and drove it 300,000 km. it had hand wind up windows and no electronic aids. apart from normal maintenance I had no reason to go back to the dealer for anything. I'd expect that your problems will be addressed in the new ID8 as the software team in China will hold up their hands and just say too much hassle to fix and just put all their effort to the new version for the next car.

I have the id buzz cargo I use for work but after using this for 10000 mile would never buy a vw id car. For a work van I can put up with the poor software but not in a new car .

Those are indeed tiny problems, and it's almost nothing compared to the old software :) Those kind of bugs can be spotted in many brands, including the new electric ones.

You complain about the autoplay for spotify etc. But what is more important to me and my id7 is not being able to see the radio channel I am on in the dashboard or head-up display somewhere. I noticed this today while on my trip to work. This is about 1h30min drive and using android auto with waze because I want to be very up to date with traffic jams. I like to switch radio channel when driving and its such a basic thing to see the channel somewhere. Its only visible on the big screen in the middle..... Its not a bug but a missing feature and this is so basic. I never owned a car where I could not see the radio channel. Still, enjoying the car very much. Don't get me wrong. Btw. i need to double check but I am pretty sure my car is on 4.1 I have it since may 1.

Thanks for the video. Highlights the core EV issue for VW: Software. Tesla was a computer company now making cars, VW ... By now VW the system should be fixed!

And it was only 70 percent more expensive than Tesla Model 3 Highland... And even so has no heat pump... No wonder these perfect machines are just "flying off the shelves" :D

Well, it’s also way bigger than Model 3. I have sat in both, and I can’t fit properly in the backseat of Model 3. ID7 also has a way better trunk (although 3 has a frunk). And at least in Finland the price-difference is about 40%, not 70%. And iD7 has a heat pump.
