I've gotten this question a few times, so I did my best to document what happens when you stop taking Ozempic. I recorded this back in November 2021, after two months of stopping Ozempic. Life just got in the way, and I didn't get a chance to post! Hope this answers some of your questions about what happens when you stop taking Ozempic! If you have anymore, leave them in the comments, and I'd be happy to answer them as I'm able.
Check out my playlist of Ozempic videos: I answer lots of questions there and have videos documenting my progress as I took the medicine: • Three Years on Ozempic
In this video I cover:
Weight loss progress after I stopped taking Ozempic
Do any of the symptoms remain?
What happened with my heart palpitations after I stopped taking Ozempic?
Did I gain my appetite back when I stopped taking Ozempic?
Would I take Ozempic again?

Woah you have similar results to me in a similar amount of time. Late August 2021 for my PCOS. (I gained 200lbs rapidly a couple years ago when my symptoms first manifested.) I was up to 340 and lost 40 on my own by getting food secure. Gained back 24 after getting IUD. So in August I was at 324. Now I'm at 274. So 50 pounds which is wild. The side effects haven't been too bad for me. Anyway, thank you for sharing, I didn't see a lot of numbers similar to mine so it felt validating.

@@rebekahfasano7005 for me I didn't have bad side effects until I went up to the full dosage, which ended up being too intense for me. It gave me intense esophageal spasms. I may have been able to power through but my endocrinologist ended up supplementing the weekly ozempic jab at the lower dose with daily rybelsus pills (also semaglutide.) I regained some weight when I didn't eat enough due to unrelated stomach bug, but lost it again once I was able to eat a regular amount. It's also helped me absorb my iron supplements so I've been less anaemic and that gave me enough energy to be more active. I tend to be bedridden due to my other conditions, so I am limited in what activity I can do and it's always irregular. But even being able to do dishes occasionally has helped with toning. My skin has gotten pretty loose so I've been wearing the compression garments I had for joint pain and that can apparently help with tightening it back up. I hope it goes well for you! If the side effects are too intense there's no shame in trying out other things.

I am like you, Brandon. Six months in and 72lbs down. I suspect that we are both part of the 8% of individuals who are seriously deficient in the hormone which controls appetite. Ozempic replaces it so our bodies now work normally and receive the "you are full" message. My constant hunger switched off two hours after my first dose - in fact, I realise now that I simply stopped thinking about food. Would be interested to know if, like me, your tastes have radically changed? The smell of pizza, fried foods, turn my stomach ... No interest whatsoever in ready or take out meals. I do however, enjoy very simple fresh home cooked meals. My dinner now for example .... 3ozs piece of salmon flaked over half a cup cooked rice (I use Thai spices and coconut milk to cook the rice). Side dish of one cup steamed green veggies. I have decided that too many flavours, fats, chemicals, tastes overwhelms me now and puts me off the food. I really can taste food so much better.

Most importantly the mood, I haven’t seen much reported about it but I came to the conclusion that it was causing me worsened depression. Great update! So glad you found a plan that's working for you! I'm still on Ozempic. One thing I did experience about a month after upping my dose to 1 was constipation which caused lots of digestive discomfort. I couldn't eat anything without cramping and stomach discomfort. My sister experienced the same issues and after a stomach ultrasound, it was confirmed that she was severely constipated even though she was having regular bowel movements (possibly a result of Ozempic slowing down the digestive process?). I took a slow acting laxative (Miralax per my endo) and increased my hydration. The issues cleared up after a week and I haven't experienced any more issues for about a month now. I'm still not seeing the weight loss benefits, but my blood sugar numbers are still down dramatically (A1c down from 13 to 7.1 since June) which is my priority. Thanks again for the update. Wishing you continued success on your journey!

I was on Ozempic, and am no longer on it. It caused pancreatitis for me. My primary doctor had two other patients who also had the same outcome. Now on my medical records it shows I'm allergic to it. Ozempic made me feel nauseous every day. It just wasn't worth feeling sick every day. I am on Trulicity and Tresiba. I'm doing okay for now.

I END UP IN THE ER !! Be careful when stopping this type of medication. I couldn't fill my Mounjaro medication this month, I was told by the pharmacy that the medication is in out of stock status by the manufacturer. 9 days after the last injection, my pulse went to 125 resting, pressure 180/100, hard palpitations, felt like fainting with a panic attack. The palpitations and chest unrest have been getting better for the last two weeks. Wish I would have seen this video or had a warning from my Doctor about the withdrawal symptoms.

I started taking Ozempic last year (5/21) I actually watched your video on how to inject it. It suppresses my appetite like crazy! I take the 0.25 dose. Don't think I'll move up. November, life got a lil hectic for me. My mother had a mild heart attack (triple bypass, surgery a success, recovering at rehab) & life went into overdrive. I started having heart palpitations. I was beyond stressed out, nervous & my body was reacting! I remember watching your video where you stated you started having heart palpitations too. I thought ok, well I'm gonna stop taking the Ozempic because, even though I'd been taking it for 7months, it was still the "newest" medication. I too went to the doctor & told her what was happening. My pressure & pulse were good. It was stress & nerves. She said your body is not liking the stress. Fast forward, my mother is doing well, my body has calmed down, no more extreme stress or nervousness. I just started back taking the 0.25 dose & no adverse side effects, however, I'm paying attention to my body. Super good update & thank you for being so transparent.

I'm glad things are working out for you. I was on Ozempic for 7 months and I threw up so,so much. The doctor recently took me off of Ozempic, the nausea is horrible. Also, my blood sugar is through the roof since I stopped taking Ozempic. In my first week or two on Ozempic my heart rate went up, so I went to the emergency room and they told me that the doctor started me on too high of a dose,so she had me to stay off of Ozempic for a month and I started out a the lowest starting dose...she was hesitant about putting me back on that medication. She monitored and I was doing well then things turned for me. I was diagnosed with diabetic gastroparesis in 2015 and the Ozempic made my health issue worse. They say it takes five weeks to get out of your system. This medication and others like it are good if it works for you, but for the people it doesn't work for God bless you and I pray that you get through it.

Same here with your symptoms but also horrible constipation and some hair loss . I also seem to get hyperglycemic at times .When I would take my glucose readings sometimes they were in the very low 70’s . I was losing weight steadily which was good but not the other symptoms so I figured what was going on with the constipation and lowered my dosage . So far no more problems except for the heart palpitations occasionally. I’ve been thinking that it might also be the Ozempic doing this but hearing you talk about your palpitations tells me yep that’s what’s doing it. I. really hate to stop taking it because my A1C was just 5 this blood work and cholesterol levels were down and blood pressure too. I lowered the level this past week so I’m keeping a close watch on any symptoms I might be having. Thanks for the information I am going to subscribe. 👍

After that I started walking, about a year and a half later I added very easy yoga, ( Simply yoga,)with Yolanda , she’s Australian on u tube , yes it took me time to learn ,but I did my best. I started when I was 48 & now I’m 62 ,I did gain back 30lbs due to life stressors. And by the way I was 285lbs. I still walk daily, stick to eating clean real food ,and I don’t eat red meat. My former primary put me on strongest dose 😡. I can’t take and she knew it because of palpations and also Barretts Disease and Ulcer Coilitis. The ER doctor said he had treated several with the Ozempic very sick and he said same problem no eating or drinking having to force drinking just to stay hydrated but still ended up in ER getting fluids. They have tried several meds on me and because of gastric haven’t been able to take but this one she should have NEVER given me 😢.

Hello, I stumbled on your video today and found it very interesting. First off, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about a year ago and because my AIC kept creeping up even though I was managing my diet, etc., they put me on Ozempic. I am just now taking my second dose of the .5ml. I have not noticed very many side affects, just the occasional nausea but it doesn't progress and goes away pretty quickly. I have lost 38 pounds and counting, which is really nice. It also ended my 5 year battle with diarrhea and the need to take two Imodium twice daily to control it. I have also experienced the need to eat several small meals a day instead of the basic 3 meals. I'm going to go back and watch your journey with Ozempic because the heart palpitations terrifies me since my sister died three years ago from a side affect of her cancer medication involving her perfectly healthy heart. Her chemo drug stopped her heart and ended her life on the 4th day of taking it. On a side note, please don't let anyone body shame you! This is 2022 people and we seem to be able to accept different ethnicities and sexual orientation, but we still have trouble with acceptance of those who are not the perfect looking size 2. Even Hollywood who has cast a "skinny" person (Rene Zellweger) in another movie, placing her in a "fat suit" instead of hiring a plus sized actress for the role of the plus sized character. That is what is shameful and unacceptable, not the appearance of someone who is plus size. You are beautiful, just the way you are. And if you wish to change the way you look or lose weight to better your health, that is your right but it doesn't make you any more beautiful than who you are right now! Judging someone for their size and/or appearance is never ok, you never know what another person is going through and unless you've walked in their shoes, just love and be accepting. Kindness matters!

@@dorianacorda4499 Ikr, (I’m just going to apologise in advance because I really went off on a few tangents here, I just hope you have the patience to get to end of this, 🙏 & whether you agree with my assessment of what I think is going on. it’s started, for example, going to buy groceries: there’s very few to no fruit/veg/meat, even bread is always sold out, BUT even if you are lucky enough to actually get what’s on your shopping list (is it just me being dramatic or not, lemme know if things are the same where you are), food prices in (Brisbane area) have gone up by about 30% on average, and what about keeping a roof over your head (I’m a renter, and while I had planned on moving when we were at the 2yr mark, I really did a deep search for any available properties in our area, there was so few, and all were way over our budget. I mean I don’t know, but are they (the owner/landlords) really paying that much more in interest that it justifies this hike in price. I’m doubtful, but I don’t know. And my next gripe is petrol, they (our politicians/government have the ability to keep the fuel prices down, but they’re not. It’s a non issue for them cos I take it they’re driving company car & they get free company fuel card. Its irrelevant now, the election is over, theres no need to bs people with bs lies and false hope. I was going to share my trip to east Germany when I was a kid, but I think ill save it for another time, lol. P.s. Just wanted to know if anyone else has noticed the discrepancy of price of fuel and op shops, I mean specifically the area mixup. In the nicer areas, both the price of fuel, and what op shop/charity shops sell is usually better quality and cheaper than similar op shops in crappy areas (tho I’ll admit it was usually always the bigger chains that did these price hikes eg. Lifeline, Salvos etc. I’m sorry again if you even made it this far. @@dorianacorda4499 Right, there’s no problem getting enough vaccines out there 🤷🏻‍♀️. But I guess potentially saving the healthcare system the costs associated with diseases directly linked to obesity eg. Diabetes, isn’t high on their priority list. It’s frustrating cos I’ve also seen the ads for wegovy (which is exactly the same as ozempic, but apparently specifically intended for use in weight loss). I’ve asked my local chemist every time I go in (for about the last 6months or more) and they have no idea when it’ll be available again. Also take into consideration, even when it is, unless you’re diabetic, you’re unlikely going to get it because they obviously have priority. I’m hoping that situation will change when they finally bring wegovy to our shelves. They try to get you with “prescriptions”, but we all know that’s not the issue. Any decent gp, knows how effective this drug is for weight loss, and I’ve had no problem getting a prescription. It’s like we said, it’s just the availability issue. Anyway sorry for rambling on, just had to have a bit of a vent, lol 😂. Hopefully it’s back on shelves soon 🤞

Thank you for sharing - I am 6 weeks currently on Ozempic at .25 (extended 2 weeks due to nausea) and now know that just like your experience - it works great but is not for me. I will be asking my dr for me to not take anymore. Thank you - exactly what I am experiencing. Love it but cannot handle the side effects.

Was hospitalized in ICU for 4 days nov 2022 and diagnosed out of nowhere with LADA. A year later it’s been proabably one of the most emotionally frustrating things to accept and deal with. And the weight gain and or weight not dropping unless I do extremely unsustainable and dangerous , things like starving myself, exercise two times a day, skipping insulin, etc I’m hoping to start ozempic soon nd it helps with weight loss…but sustainable weight loss that won’t immediately come back

thank you for sharing- I was on OZ from Oct to Jan this year. Lost 20 pounds. Positives were no appetite or cravings. Negatives- extreme shortness of breath and exhaustion. I had NO other side effects! Kept in touch with the Dr., regularly monitored the side effects, and finally decided it was not worth it. I have been off of it 2 weeks- still no appetite and also continuing to lose weight. I wanted a jumpstart and I got it. Switched to intermittent fasting/ keto. At 66 I am blessed to have no medical conditions and take no meds. I was put on this to address weight re-gain 10 yrs after a gastric bypass. I am happy for you at this place in your journey- it sounds like you turned a corner!

This same thing happened to me 10 years after my gastric bypass and it seems like I’m slowly climbing back up to the weight I was at prior to getting my gastric bypass in 2010 so they are staring me on ozempic starting Monday.

I had gastric bypass in 2002 and I gained almost all my weight back. It happens more than people think. I never ate right from the beginning and still don’t. I try but it just doesn’t work for me. But Nov 2020 I went to see a gastric bypass doctor at CCF to see about having a revision surgery. But he put me on metformin and topamax and weight started coming off. Thank god. I lost 95 lbs in one year. Then I kind of stalled out. So he has now put me on Ozempic so I’ve been on .25 for 2 weeks now. I haven’t had any side effects. And I hope not to. I hope to at least lose at least another 35 lbs. I don’t want to be skinny I’m not that kind of person. But I haven’t been under 200 in 18 years and I think I’d like to be 175. But I’m happiest I don’t have to have surgery again. Good luck all.

Thanks so much for this review. It's great to hear someone's first-hand experience with Ozempic. I've been tempted to try it, but it seems like the easy way out. I just need to get serious with my diet.

Thank you for putting this out there. I've been on Ozempic with no side effects. However, it is chronically on back order due to the demand, so I have been on and off a couple of times. During my off times, I continue to lose weight because of my dietary changes, and my blood sugar is under great control. I'm postmenopausal and happy with my results thus far.

I’ve been on ozempic since July and today on March 17 I lost close to 60 pds, from 232 to 170. What a change … cut my meds for hart pressure, diabetes , can exercise more . Ok i got nausea and belly discomfort but it’s all with it . My main problem is to eat enough , to eat very energetic food , because sometimes I have energy drops but I’m working on that . When I’m feeling good , I try to eat more , take a boost liquid meal and crank up my energy. But I feel so good in my new body , it’s all worth it … I take .5 and don’t think I need 1.0. What I need to do now is build up my muscles update sept 12 .. april and mai my weight dropped again to 159 pds.. Got scared, energy loss, muscle fatigue , so my doc told me to cut from 0.50 to 0.25. That did it i gained enough energy and weight to do what i have to do. Now im gaining a bit too much but nothing dramatic .. heat waves have stop my cycling but fresher days will get me mooving a gain. according to my doctor i am an ozempic success... no after effects since my dose has been reduced. no reason it wont stay that way .

Omg, I just found your channel and my doctor just put me on Ozempic & I didn’t get it because it cost almost 300.00$ to fill. I said I wouldn’t pay that much money for something I didn’t know would make me sick. I can’t wait to see your other videos

Here in australia ozempic is only approved for type 2 diabetics. We are now having supply issues because unscrupulous online doctors are prescribing it here for people to just lose weight and so diabetics, like myself, cannot get their medication to balance blood glucose levels. So this comment is to those online doctors who are prescribing this in australia for people other than diabetics to please stop until those with the approved by TGA use can get the meds first.

Thank you for the great personal information. I have been on Ozempic for the past 9 months and suffer at different level from all the symptoms that you described in your previous videos (except for the tachycardia). While the product has helped me a great deal with my diabetes type 2 management (A1C now around 7.8 from 11.6). Unfortunately the regular bouts of nausea are getting difficult to deal with. I was hoping that the negative side effects would subside over time but they actually appear to be getting worst. While I feel a bit trapped at this point, I truly appreciate your sharing your experience. You gave me a bit of perspective on potential alternatives. Great job, THANK YOU! (P.S. I subscribed - LoL)

My A1C was 12.4. started ozempic and in 3 months down to 8.3 another 3 months, 7.4. last A1C in Aug 6.6! I do get nausea or at least queasiness 1-2 days after injection. I was losing weight like crazy due to my high blood sugars, so hard to tell how much I lost due to Ozempic. I went from around 200lbs to current 135. I have days with little appetite or no appetite, and some days I am hungry. I have noticed some afib. Sometimes, not often, I skip a week Injection to give myself a break from the nausea. My doctor also has now prescribed Zofran for my nausea, so that helps. If you can hang in, the symptoms will decrease and maybe even eventually go away.
