Great vid! I'm going to start posting dev logs for a game I've been working on and this helped me decide what direction to take. There's a lot of content here so I feel I'll have to watch this daily to absorb all the information lol

Vampire Survivors have solved indie game development.

They definitely introduced an entirely new way of developing!

I would wager that indie game studios (mainly start ups) work less hours on the actual game as they’d allocate time to also having a second to cover costs
@TheCamiCono Жыл бұрын
I think the great rise in the short development cycle and hours worked are greatly due to the increase of Hyper-Casual games. The amount of hyper-casuals in 2022 increased by 5 times compared to 2021 and those games do not require a ton of content.

Great video Michael, but it is not completely true that Steam is banning the use of AI art content in games on on Steam. The title of the article you show reads: "The games service isn’t banning AI art across the board after all." If you read through the article it says that this issue was a copyright issue that could've been avoided if the developer had not used an AI dataset that included copyrighted material. They are not banning the use of AI art, they just have to be strict with their copyright policy. The use of generative AI that does not include copyrighted data like Adobe Firefly for example, is okay. Also, the copyright laws around AI are currently still in development so this is just their current stance.

I would like to point out the title is a bit... misleading. I clicked on this video curious to see who has the audacity to think they have anything meaningful to say about game development after studying it for only 10 hours 🤣 I think you mean you studied Game Dev *trends* for 10 hours Good info tho!
