I’m a Catholic and I just want to say I admire you greatly. There are so many Christian commentators on KZbin who only want to indulge in criticism and toxic debates attacking their brothers and sisters in Christ. I admire the fact that you try to draw people closer to Christ than closer to controversy or resentment for their brothers and sisters in Christ. God bless.

When I was young, on a retreat, a priest said something that has stayed with me ever since…there is nothing you can do to make God love you any more than he already does but there is nothing you can do to make Him love you any less either. This has been a constant encouragement throughout my life. I am also a Catholic who has a deep appreciation for Orthodox teaching and practice, especially contemplative prayer. @@mullmonastery Amen 🙏. That is what is so wonderful about having a spiritual advisor, or failing that, the fact that you take the time, Father Seraphim, to bring these things to the Lord in prayer and obtain His words, rather than a self help type answer. We are all blessed by these videos, and I am certain there are many young people out there right now struggling with this same issue with no way to voice it, or obtain help; and unfortunately, the devil is right there to " help" them through an abuser. Thank you so much for these videos, and God bless you Father and your ministry. 😇

I used to worry about what everyone thought about me. I was a nice guy and generally well liked, but never comfortable. It wasn't until I studied the Bible for a few years that I got over it. We expect others to judge us harshly. We know that the world never forgives or forgets any wrongdoing, actual or perceived, and that we will hear about it again. Jesus forgave us. We have to practice forgiving others, then not judging others (for inherent worth or position in eternity), and also forgiving ourselves. Then, dismiss the judgment others lay on you because it is a limitlessly vain thing. It has only the value we give it. Give it God's judgment and never value the opinion of man.

Anxiety is awful. God is with you!
@elvenkind6072 Жыл бұрын
I have discovered by experience that when I focus on the suffering on others, I forget about my self and my own suffering. When I can soothe the pain of others, my own pain become irrelevant. I think this is why the bible say's that the Law and the Prophets, that we follow the will of God without trying to follow it, as long as we live in love. And the bible says that there's no greater love then those that give their live for their friends. So if we give our life to help others, that's the best way we can help ourselves. Let us live in this love, brothers and sisters, amen.

Mathew 16:25 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. Clinching to this world gives nothing but anxiety. And there is a scary stage where no medicine or doctor are able to help you. Then the light of christ begins shining bright in you to remind us that he is the only one capable of saving us. This is at least my experience

Thank you for your encouragement, dear Rita. I think any Christian soul feels some degree of anxiety regarding our standing before Christ and that is - to a degree - a normal and healthy reaction of a repenting soul. The issue is when the anxiety is not related to Christ's reaction to us, but to the reactions and opinions of the world. Christ is Love; the world is not.

I very much appreciate your videos. I am Roman Catholic with a very Eastern monastic bent which is often not understood by others. Your plain speech is full of encouraging words of wisdom. My spiritual director is an Eastern Catholic abbot who was raised in an Orthodox home. Previously you mentioned Fr Sophrony, and I am reading him now. I want to appreciate the saints both west and east and listen to them.
@mullmonastery2 жыл бұрын
Thank God for that, dear Linda. When you read the life or the teachings of a holy person, I strongly encourage you to also add them to your daily prayer. I have discovered from my own life that if I pray to a Saint while reading their work, their words have more power in my life and I often find answers to my questions in their words (almost as if they hear my prayer and a conversation of sorts is started between us).

Thanks Fr Seraphim..You touched on a very important problem that many young people, men and women, are encountering these days. Suffering from anxiety and extremely low self-esteem is Psychological human issue if not fixed can lead to more serious problem. Having said that, what do you suggest for these youngsters to do on a daily basis? We are talking about waking up and sleeping with the same disease, so to be more practical, these young persons need some kind of more practical changes in their daily routines, could be self-healing program to follow until they become a little stronger; I can think of the following: Getting out of their rooms, finding jobs and working using their hands and mind, imitating the monks (even though they live in the world), nourishing the heart by reading good books, helping the needy, engaging in a church activity, good sleeping habits, having good mentors and not being ashamed of telling their problem, praying constantly or at least getting the habit of doing it, reading Psalms, along with many other type of activities maybe you can specifically tell us about by another new video. The young in our generation need good mentors and as you mentioned, we are the ones to whom should put the blame because "we built this life for them according to false ideology"! Thanks a lot!

Such a beautiful video. I saved to rewatch. We will never feel loved if we aren’t ourselves, but what we see as “ourselves” is no big deal, we want to be more, always more, in a direction that is so fragile. But the extraordinary thing is...God knows us exactly as we are and loves us with a love that is beyond our comprehension. In practical terms...I feel loved when I surrender everything to God.

During my young teenage years, I suffered from low self-esteem, but when I finally understood that I shouldn't need to please people because what God thinks of me is more important. If you have low self-esteem, seek Jesus and ask Mother Mary to show you how God loves you. Praying the rosary and praying in adoration brings me peace. And we can only find peace in Jesus. Receiving the Jesus in the eucharist also bring us peace because God is present with you. ❤🙏

What true words you speak, Father. We often hear in the media, especially regarding politics, the phrase “existential threat.” Indeed, the world itself can be an existential threat to our true selves. I liked your striking image of being shaped by the world as a fetus in the womb. Yes, I too, even at my ripe old age, have that fear of being inauthentic. This, as you may know, is what the French philosopher J. P. Sartre wrote about; also, the hell of others and bad faith, La mauvaise foi.

i used to have terrible anxiety as a kid. from 5 to my mid 20s. all over the firey place. full blown out of breath, heart racing panic attacks. God isnt as trivial as to torture u forever for not loving God. its just not eternal imo. 10,000 years. 100,000 years maybe. not forever. Or, time is not the same and heII is just metaphor for life without God. God should be approached with love and respect. not fear. ive liberated myself of heII. i also try not to feel entitled to heaven as that alone could send me to heII (makes sense to me). i just occasionally disappoint God and beat myself up over it more than i should. Like father says if we love the world we will become like the world. When Facebook first came out I did not join it because it was way too happy. Everyone smiling and having the best time in their lives 24/7. That world is a lie. It's a siren song and all siren songs lead us to our death. God doesn't love us because we are good. We are good because God loves us. We ALL fall short of who God made through original sin. This is the world we are born into through no fault of our own. Returning to God is returning to our free selves. Yeah its a narrow path but we already know that, it should be no surprise.
