For getting the red stone to move upward without taking up much space, make a one tic red stone system. Look it up there are tutorials. It’s pretty handy to have.

Also a good way to create a single redstone line is with observers! Put redstone beneath and then observers on top in a line connecting to each other and it can go either up or down! And it was a really good video! But if you need breaks take them! We will still be here and whatever you want to do go for it!
