The fact that you've been playing for almost a decade and just now learned that the enchanting table resets itself after enchanting an item is funny. You always seem to find some way to entertain us. I keep a chest or two of enchanted books from using them to reset the table when I'm looking for specific enchantments for my equipment. It can be useful when you need certain ones.

Yes that's correct. You can combine enchanted books on the anvil as well to make upgraded ones or ones with multiple enchantments to make for future tools/equipment.

Cool to see people try surviving in the ancient cities for a challenge. This is so interesting and inspiring on how people could live in the Ancient City and manage too live with the warden without dying.

*My theory is that the Warden (back then) could actually see and didn't attack the people that were down there at the time. But after those people left, the cities obviously fell apart and slowly went dark. So, after years of being down there with pretty much no light, the Wardens eventually went blind and now they can't differentiate between enemies and the players anymore, that's why it attacks anything that makes sound in it's territory. It's kinda sad tbh, but so is the whole lore of Minecraft.*

This was really neat to watch, so thank you. I am really annoyed that the Mojang Bedrock team seems to keep getting fairly important things wrong with the updates and they don't fix them prior to the release. The Deep Dark mob spawning, the Axe being the tool of choice for Mangrove Roots, that Mangrove Roots should be able to be waterlogged and contain the water, etc. are issues that directly affect how the game is played with these features.

i genuinely think having mobs spawn in the deep dark makes it a much scarier experience. they help build up tension by making you worried that they might summon the warden when they attack you. it would be great if they tweaked it so mobs like skeletons and creepers cant spawn there, though.

@@TheFlyfly Well, they made that decision for a reason (good or bad), and although I agree that it makes the Deep Dark much scarier it also makes it much harder than it needs to be. I honestly think that this would have been a perfect thing to tie to the game difficulty; that they don't spawn in Easy or Normal, but mobs do spawn in the Deep Dark on Hard Mode. Alas, we are left with the game being "bugged" and another difference between Java and Bedrock Edition...

i had a dream on being on a old sized world with a mob that i could describe as an over-sized enderman constantly running around the map and i remember i survived long enough to have iron gear and a base and i went to a forest to get seeds wood and food but the enderman shows up and starts randomly chasing me and then hits me which tooked half my health so i place water on and i start to block myself up with planks but the enderman can break planks and killed me.

Enchanting pro-tip. If you don't get the enchantment you want, enchant a book at the lowest level instead. It will still roll your pickaxe enchantments and you can still un-enchant them for xp, but you also have the option of say getting two or three lower level books of the enchantment you're looking for that you can anvil together to get what you wanted. (Note: put the books together before put them on your tool/weapon instead of adding each book to the tool/weapon to save on xp costs.)

I do actually appreciate the scale of the Ancient City, because last week right after 1.19 came out, some friends and I found one and it took us a good 2-3 hours of just searching to clean it all out! It was incredible.

What's really cool about this seed is the close mansion nearby. I didn't watch the whole vid so idk if you mentioned this but I wanted to try this out with a friend and without help or tips and it was my first time in an ancient city so I learned a lot. my friend noticed the mansion first when they respawned on the surface and looked around for food. I thought they were joking because no way could you find a mansion just 10 minutes walking around but it was true.

Some of the city went into other biomes if you see a lack of skulk, you’ve probably left the deep dark. Not all cities generate purely in the deep dark.

Started a 1.19 world and I'm in a very interesting place. Spawnpoint is in some badlands next to water next to a mesa and next to a desert with an illager outpost seen in the distance as well as a desert village close by. Also found some azalea trees which gave me much needed logs and decided to give myself a bonus chest just in case, which very much helped. Found a cave close by which goes down to deepslate level and haven't checked yet to see if there's an ancient city there. Possible, but definitely not ready for it.

I have also spawned in a world that for 24,000 blocks is only Jungle or Mesa Biome. There is a tiny zit of a birch forest biome, but that's it really. All of the mountains are HUGE and split into miniature ravines. Those are cool. But the lack of variety made me reload the map and activate cheats to allow me to switch between creative and survival. It's not very fun to go through 3 64 stacks of beef I stored to walk through the chasms. Funny, before this latest update I would only spawn in worlds with the Savannah Biome. I am starting to hate that biome, lol.

@@wallamazoo01 My preferred place to spawn is in a savannah next to water near a desert. Because I always intend to create a building that involves lots of glass, and the best way to get it is by cooking sand in a furnace. So spawning in a desert next to water is the next best thing for me.

sculk catalysts can generate shriekers - if it can no longer spread out sculk - thn it starts making sensors and occasionly shriekers

Earlier today I went into the Ancient City and spent about the whole day (real time) there. I wasn't concerned about keeping the sculk devices, I wanted to purify it. I did so, but the hostile mob glitch lead to mobs activating the Warden. Apparently if you hold shift, release quickly to jump up and hold shift again before landing, you won't make a sound. I did this and did sneak up on many shriekers without a sound. Near a triple shrieker area was a boney boy dungeon that was a quarter exposed. It was hilarious watching infinitely spawning skeletons aggro the Warden, it took about an hour but eventually the skeleton horde killed the Warden that spawned. I also learned if you "cleanse" the sculk blocks, the Warden won't spawn near shriekers. It's funny to disable all the sculk blocks and keep making the shrieker call for aid, and nothing to happen. Interestingly, I also developed a theory while travelling through the city.

In the city I obviously found the central "portal" that looks like the Warden. However, I also found a much smaller structure that looked like a shrine to the portal at first, but then it had four candles laid out just like the towers in front of the portal. The candles were out of order but counted 2, 1, 4, 3. I imagine that if the portal activation is going to be a puzzle, this little shrine is actually a key. You'll have to work hard to evade the Warden and figure out where this little structure is inside the city, then memorize it. You'll have to find a way to trigger the sculk sensors in order that matches the candles to activate the portal. I'm sure this is a plan in the future. Not sure yet, but I am sure that Mojang has a plan for the portal. Prior to the End, you could activate the "sky dream world" on multiplayer maps with floating grass islands that later became the framework for the said End. Perhaps there is something hidden in the files that will give us a clue, however, I feel like there is something more sinister to this end.

The music in this biome is on repeat, it is very odd. There is both a frightening ambience, the rapid string instrument that seemingly is keeping you on your toes. Then there is the piano that is distorted - there's something else going on that is very wrong. The wooden outposts you see around the walls are not ancient - they were likely built by explorers or more likely constructed by Pillagers that were too curious for their own good. They learned to put down carpet to say quiet, but it wasn't enough. initial survivors built up high, but the Warden was able to snipe them. Eventually they were all entirely killed off and their souls absorbed into the sculk. When you arrive, there is so much loot that no scroungers who came there found any success. Seeing sculk sensors and other blocks inside of chests leads me to another theory as to why the sculk is there.

It is no secret that there are theories surrounding the ancient builders and their treatment or enslavement of certain species. I believe that the sculk infestation due to the massive portal in the center of the city. It's clear that at first smaller portals were made (the small structure mentioned above may have been a small scale portal that went to the sculk dimension. In this proof of concept, the larger portal was erected to do one of two things: Be a final escape plan for the Ancient Builders who were trying to flee from the zombie plague, or a mass transit to gather more sculk sensors to be "used" as remote red stone activators. The builders weren't sure what the Shriekers would do, so they brought some back with them. The dimension they went to was completely absorbed and there were few new souls to absorb. When the zombies, skeletons, and mining creepers found the Deep Dark, there was immense bloodshed that lead to the souls being absorbed by the sculk blocks, and the Warden was born out of the mayhem. He is anger incarnate, fueled by frightened Ancient Builders (the sounds of pain emitted by the Warden) and the ruthless behavior of the zombie horde (the absolute fury of the Warden). The Ancient Cities were the absolute last bastion of hope against the Zombie Plague, buried at the pits of the Overworld, seemingly safe from the sheer terror happening above. Still, somehow Steve appears out of nowhere apparently hand picked by two "speakers" from the Credits. Who these are is unknown, possibly linked to the religion of the Ancient Builders. It's clear they had reverence for the Soul, as soul energy is found everywhere in every dimension.

this seed is yes I found an abandoned portal frame Halfway to the surface Pretty much straight up from spawn Not gonna lie I explore a little And the 1st 15 minutes I saw and was killed by my 1st warden ! 14:47 Wait, did you seriously not know you can reroll all enchants just by enchanting something once? I have been using that to get full enchantments from day 1. It's the reason you try to enchant all of your armour and equipment at the same time whenever possible to save on waster enchants. I'm sure that was in a wiki somewhere.

Just a heads up to any switch users, the ancient city music will blow your switch speakers. Went to the ancient city yesterday and my speaker worked fine before I went and now it’s all muffled and crackly and doesn’t even work half the time.
