I like playing with a mod that makes boredom and depression literally eat away at your health. It forces me to focus on living my best life in the apocalypse. Like I guarantee, despite their shorter lifespans - every single characters quality of life shot up dramatically after the apocalypse. Sure you got zombies trying to eat you but how many of them (or even us) can say they moved into a mansion, had their pick of favorite cars, moved a museums worth of priceless artifacts into their forever home and spent the rest of their days joyriding, playing with an arsenals worth of firearms, getting drunk at home never having to go to work, picking the best clothes from the store without buying a thing and watching movies, playing video games and reading books at their leisure? Pfft, apocalypse? Never heard of er... having a picnic tomorrow and perfecting my sushi rolls.

I like depression eating at you for realisms sake like his will to live is just deteriorating. But seriously, these guys started the apocalypse with almost zero skills meanwhile less than a year later they are master carpenters, chefs, mechanics etc.. the apocalypse really created the best version of them and let them live their best life. All those people dying was the best thing to ever happen to them lol.

@zombie-ash-gaming I found a glitch that's useful for gathering zomboids well in a vehicle idk if you would find it useful or already know it, anyways if you take your foot off the gas(don't touch any keyboard buttons) then fast forward time, the zomboids and time will increase but your vehicle will remain rolling at the same speed

I forgot to tell you that if you find a firearm that is bored out to .357 Magnum (usually revolvers and lever action rifles) then that firearm is also compatible with .38 special rounds. So 5.56 and .223 long rifle rounds are compatible and so are .357 Magnum and .38 special pistol caliber rounds. At least that's the way it is in real life. There are a few more caliber's of ammunition that are compatible with one another as well. But sadly I can't remember off the top of my head which ones they are. You can perform a quick word search inquiry at your leisure and find out the rest if the need arises. A lot of experienced hunter's and bush-craft enthusiast will backpack with a .357 Magnum lever action rifle along with a .357 Magnum revolver as their sidearm (especially on extended trips) so they can have both long and medium range fire power with the lever action rifle as well as medium and close range capabilities with the revolver. That way they only have to pack one caliber of ammo in their backpack or their bug out bag for two firearms that perform two different jobs. That's the beauty of many lever action rifles that are bored out to pistol caliber's like .357, .45, .44, and 9mm. Anyway... I have no idea if this information applies to the game. Although it's good to know this info anyway just in case. If one day you're in a real time survival situation. But hopefully it will help you out in this online gaming survival situation. It absolutely applies in game. Whats weird though is you have to 'manually convert' ammo from 38 to 357 or 223-5.56 etc Right click the ammo in your inventory and you can convert it to the appropriate gauge.

is it possible to adjust the difficulti in all the ways? i like the theme and i also like to wander around the apocalypse. but the teadious task of searching for food, water, meds and everything at the same time really kills my motivation for it. and if you forget about one little thing or dont find it just in time its over. i played surroundead and it was pretty nice to tighten the difficulty over time by yourself, instead of going fully in to it from the beginning.

Yeah mate you can change all the settings from zed strength the amount of zeds and what items you start with and the abundance of loot 👌🏻 you can even play without zombies if you wanted to get a hang of it or really weak zeds as well

The sandbox settings for this game is properly one of the best Iv played and I think it’s a reason it’s always popular as you can play completely how you want

Searching for loot is definitely not tedious in this game in fact its one of the best parts. Ive never starved to death in this game over 2500 hours even on the most difficult and rare settings. Not even gotten close though i have had to deal with being hungry a lot. Looting is so much fun because not finding something is never going to kill you, even medical supplies can easily be crafted from dead zombie clothes to keep you from dying. Instead looting just unlocks different aspects of the game you might enjoy. Hammer, saw and nails unlocks carpentry and basebuilding options. Finding a wrench, jack, lugwrench, screwdriver unlocks mechanics allowing you to pimp out your ride and put performance level equipment on them. Cooking pots, baking pans and flour etc lets you bake cakes, pies even sushi. You get the idea. You dont need ANY of this stuff, there are people who have played a hundred hours and never once built a wall or even fortified their bases or cooked a single meal, just ate the ingredients raw. Looting - even cool guns, armor weapons - only makes surviving EASIER absolutely nothing is required for survival beyond water and it is everywhere. You can even set the sandbox to never stop the running water.

And again even after 2500 hours where almost every one of my characters had the 'high thirst' disability i have never once died of thirst. The game is way more forgiving than people realize dont let the rumors of hard difficulty scare you off, you can just play it on super easy. Seriously ask any vet like me "how many times have your characters died from hunger/thirst?" And I guarantee unless someone is lying you wont find a single one. The game is more about trying different methods to survive well.
