Pre soak your hair with water house water. Hair absorbs water. If you pre soak them, it doesnt have room to soak up so much chlorine water. I learned how to swim with locs. Never had any locs mat together like that and my coils are pretty tight. Bra strap length still shrinks to my ears. So idk. Did you not wash the chlorine out afterwards?

The same thing happend to me twice, some parts of my hair went bald because of stress. If you want to grow some hair on bold parts, get a clean razor and gently get in to your skin by cutting it then get 2 small garlic pieces smash the garlic and spread out the garlic on the bold then get a stretch foil and wrap it around your hair do not wash your hair for 10 to 15 hours, do this once a week and your hair will start growing after a month or two. I would do it 2 hours before going to bed so I wouldnt think of it because in day time it feels like your are wrapped in condom for 10 hours and sometimes you have import things to do outside and it would not be helpful if it didnt stay on your head so better do it 2 hours before sleeping. I will also leave some videos how to do it so it would also be helpful for anyone is suffering from alopesi areata. I have straight-ish hair locs and I've had the for about 3 years and I've never had an issue with them from swimming... They were fine even in the first few months... My only complaint is, if a pool has recently been shocked it can be difficult to get the smell of chlorine out of them, so I try to avoid that. At the beginning of the summer I found a swim club near by that has salt water pools and not only has that saved me from smelling like a life guard but the salt even helps the tighten them up and prevents the frizzies... But it also has dried my scalp out more than id care for but it's better that the chlorine smell

I had straight hair dreads for 10 years. Water is good for dreads. It doesn’t matter if they were started on straight hair or not, if they are locking, the wet to dry over and over lets the hairs interact and lock more. Mine definitely never unraveled. I’ve never ever heard that before lol.

Dreads dont unravel weather your hair is straight or not. Once they are locked they arent ever unlocking. I have straight hair and had dreads down to my butt for many years. They were so tight you would never even know i had straight hair. The only thing thats gonna happen once they are already solidly locked up is they are gonna absorb water like a spong and be really heavy. It would take hours for mine to dry.

I might not have dreads anymore, but when your hair is dreaded, it’s dreaded. It takes a lot of work for you to undread your hair and just saying bud. Keep your hygiene up wash your hair daily. Only thing that’s gonna happen is that your head is going to smell great your scalp will love you for it.

Water actually helps loc do just that, lock. Try tying a really tight knot and untying it while it’s dry. Then try again while it’s wet…way harder.
