I went to 8.5 a few years back and instantly was doing butter tres , enjoyed it for a bit and wanted to go back down I did size 8.0 for year , now im back on 8.25 but I think I may go back to 8.5 again , I was enjoying a lot of my skating on the 8.5 , as far as trucks on the 8.5 I was using tensor mag lites , when i went to 8.0 and 8.25 venture non hollows , I want to find venture in the 8.5 size before i go back

Idk what it is about 8.5 but I love it. They are just the most consistent feel across all the board companies for me so when I try new decks I don’t feel like I have to relearn how to skate.

Would love to see the comparisons cause it’s literally what I do so I would love to see it

If I can get ahold of that footage and remember to get it done, I will definitely do one.

just think about the '80s, dudes cracking ollies over fire hydrants and bs flipping up steps with 10" boards with 9" trucks and 60mm+ wheels. i really think it's beneficial to get a big old school/shaped board with a long wb for your quiver, it's like goku training with weights on.
@JaySkateDay5 ай бұрын
Exactly that. I’m even thinking of trying some slightly heavier trucks as a truck review and to see how it affects skating the 8.5. Personally I love it so far
@diplenski5 ай бұрын
@@JaySkateDay almost all of my trucks are the standard ones. i have a set of forged hollow indy 139s and forged hollow 148 thunders, but all the rest are standard weight mostly indys or venture. if i went above 149/8.5" trucks i might see the benefit to the hollows/lights, but most of mine are 139 or 144, a couple 149s

I strongly agree which is why I need to skate my Big Oldie soon

That flat green obstacle looking interesting trying to learn to skate at that park. Also, debating skateboard size trying to find my right size from 8.0,8.125 and 8.2 sizes. Afterwards felt that slam. Last of all clean tricks 🙌
@JaySkateDay6 ай бұрын
What size do you skate right now bro? I feel like I could help but also it’s always gonna be what you like most.
@NitrroO6 ай бұрын
@@JaySkateDayjust switched back to size 8.0 test out something. Lastly before that was trying give a 8.2 try
@diplenski6 ай бұрын
i usually float between 8"-8.25" on popsicles and 9.25"+ on shapes, but i do have a few outliers in the stack like a 7.75", 8.375", and 8.5". i'm 6'3, 225, 11.5 shoes and i skated big fish boards in the '80s(when i was young/small) and 7.5" popsicles in the mid '90s
@NitrroO6 ай бұрын
@@diplenskiThen I understand that is certain people preferred options. Along with have wide feet with shoes mostly. Lastly probably going to give 8.2 board a long chance in the future. Thanks you for tips and opinions
@diplenski5 ай бұрын
@@NitrroO i'm starting to lean towards feeling more comfortable on bigger boards. they feel better underfoot and give you a bigger target to land on. but they are heavier and tend to flip/spin slower. yeah, it's all subjective and personal preference. i think there is truth to the idea that, once you've found a size/shape that you like and feel comfortable with, it is better for progression to stick with it rather than constantly changing your setup. but i don't really care as much about progression, and i enjoy skating different setups. to each their own.

For me it’s the wheel base and length. I skate 8.3 and 8.5 but as long as it’s 32 in and under with a 14 or 14.25 wheel base I skate good.
@JaySkateDay5 ай бұрын
I’ve gotta look into that. I feel like wheelbase is an important one that I always miss out on.

W video. Have you tried ace af1’s?

Surprisingly I have but they bent. I think it was in issue with that pair though. I’m looking to try one other truck company that’s been on the rise really soon!
