Only a true Linux user would make a video about switching to Linux

lol exactly, I used to be a windows fanboy, now I am quite the Linux fanboy… granted… I’m still learning, but we all start somewhere 😂

Welcome to the Linux community! Don't let others tell you what distro too use, distro really doesnt matter that much as people make it seem like. Finding your own way through everything is way better, go explore the options Linux offers you, and make your own choices! Most importantly, enjoy the experience!
@MrDrummerBoi2 ай бұрын
o7, thanks for the kind words, and yeah, imma just stick to Ubuntu for the moment to get myself acquainted to how everything works, and then, MAYBE, I'll setup another system with a different distro someday :)

Have fun. Ive been running arch for like 4 years now and ita been fun.
@MrDrummerBoi2 ай бұрын
Funzies, I decided on Ubuntu because I haven’t ever done the process before and wanted something a little more user friendly, but now I have more practice I’ll probably use a different distro next time

Been dual booting for Linux for quite a while. Linux for Dev work and Windows for everything else. I haven't been able to fully switch to Linux because there's always some annoying issue that pops up or some software I use regularly that the Linux alternative aren't just good enough (MS Office, Figma desktop, OneDrive (OneDrive for Linux sucks), etc)
@MrDrummerBoi2 ай бұрын
Yeah, that’s one massive issue is this some apps are too stubborn to not be compatible with Linux (eg some anti-cheats or adobe apps or heck even windows apps like you said) either way, I’m super stoked that I was able to get it working

Fully switched to Linux on my main system around 6 months ago never going back, but I sadly still have to use windows for school so i dual boot and have windows on my laptop.
@MrDrummerBoi2 ай бұрын
Omg I love this community 😂, I feel the same way, the only reason I leave windows on my system dual booting is the same reason you do, it’s for school 😭

You should consider trying out Fedora Linux if you can!
@MrDrummerBoi2 ай бұрын
I’ll look into it, what are the main advantages compared to Ubuntu?
@AyeItsHarry2 ай бұрын
@@MrDrummerBoi it generally gets updates faster, and uses flatpaks for apps instead of snaps, which cause far less issues. however, if you use hardware with proprietary drivers (like a nvidia gpu), getting those drivers installed on fedora is far more complicated than on ubuntu
@peacefuldeityspath2 ай бұрын
what's your laptop and specs? i also am dual booting arch and Windows 11
@MrDrummerBoi2 ай бұрын
Okie, so specs wise, it’s a pretty decent laptop: Intel i7-14th gen (don’t remember the core or thread count, I’m pretty sure it’s 12 cores, 20 threads, although I could be wrong) 32gb (dual stick) DDR5 memory (pretty sure it’s clocked at 5000 or 5600 MHz) And an RTX 4070 mobile edition with 8gbs of VRAM (this thing is a beast and although the name is a little deceiving cuz it really isn’t a 4070, it’s really powerful and outperforms my desktop 3050 8gb of VRAM) And I’m pretty sure I didn’t miss something, but the power supply is like a massive 300 watt power supply or something crazy like that 😂

ubantu interesting choice but not unusual , come on to the linux side by the way of freebsd than mx linux , my main is debian , garuda on now temporary , waiting on a new ryzen 9 mini pc going back to debian i perfer it arch is overrated is there for people who want complicaaaation in their life no thank you
@MrDrummerBoi2 ай бұрын
Yeah, heard arch was a little complicated for noobs, and that’s why I used Ubuntu as I had a little experience with it, and it’s pretty user friendly
