Good games, not a great TV series (Henry Cavil and Joey Batey were great though) and I hate the books. Since I read the Elric of melnibone saga before I read the witcher books (loved the saga) then played the game before I read the witcher books, I came intro the series with high hopes only to realise everything about Geralt and his world was almost all plagiarised, and that the things i did like only came from the games.

Played the second randomly because one of my best friends randomly gave me the game and i fell in love. Then i played the 3rd in front of my 86+ year old Grandpa and he just thought i was showing him a movie. He loved it as far as i know. I never got to play the first but i shall when the remake comes out eventually

Nicely said. If we love a channel and the style the host has, they can read the phone book and we will be there for it. This one channel was playing a game I'd seen videos about probably dozens of times. But that particular channel approached the game from a unique angle that I had come to love the channel for so I enjoyed very much

The thing about Geralt is he does take sides, however this sides are just always the sides of the people he cares about, the Witcher code is just a façade, a way to stop people of harassing him into their petty squabbles, try to recruit him as an assassin or worse a spy. By pretending there is a actually a Witcher code he keeps everyone, but those closest to him away and insures an aura of professionalism into himself, so those who hire him to do apply his trade have some modicum of respect for him.

After rewatching Joseph Anderson's Witcher 1+2 videos (the sum of which are a little over 9 hours combined) over and over again in the wait for his Witcher 3 video promised to be 10+ hours, an option to listen to a different person with a similar breadth of knowledge, decent takes, and a pleasant voice is a breath of fresh air. Here's hoping you get to make and upload your video before he does, cause that guy has been frustratingly unaccommodating for the past 3 years.

This is the game that taught me to stop "playing" and start feeling a character. The structure of consequences within the game made it impossible to "correct" the "wrong decision" without losing hours and hours of play. That is if you even had a save back that far. Also, there were very few "correct" decisions. Before playing this in '09 I often reloaded conversations in games that didn't go as intended. I'd also either go all "good" or all "bad" so I could take advantage of the benefits that come with each. The Witcher 1 is the definitive point in my life where I stopped doing that. I began living with unintended decisions (even if it was due to bad game design) and I focused on character based choices instead of achievement based ones. Most CRPGs aren't made with that in mind, but I've found my personal overall experience to be much better in the long run. This is a flawed game with flawed mechanics and structure, but easily #1 or #2 on my list depending on my mood. CDPR has talked about plans to revive/re-release this game and I honestly hope that happens. I'm not a a huge fan of that generally, but more people need a chance to experience The Witcher. I can't blame those people for finding the original unapproachable. Even in '09 I barely made it though Kaer Morhen before putting it back on a shelf for months. Only force of will, and perhaps a healthy dose of boredom, made me give it a second try. Best thing I've ever done from a video gaming stand point. 11/10 Will Play Again.

As you stated at the end, this game is not about fighting monster, but about fighting evil. And the quote from the last wish summarized it best: “Evil is Evil. Lesser, greater, middling… Makes no difference. The degree is arbitary. The definition’s blurred. If I’m to choose between one evil and another… I’d rather not choose at all.” ― Andrzej Sapkowski, The Last Wish

I remember getting it on release, well before the enhanced edition patch. The janky dialogue was glorious! The story was intriguing and the focus on potions was very different to what I was used to in fantasy RPGs. Been my favourite game series ever since. I grabbed up the books as soon as they were translated, too. Were you able to get a hold of the Polish Wiedzmin TV show? It's cheap as heck but I actually prefer it to the Netflix show.

Ohh, a Witcher retrospective! Looking forward to the other two games, with The Witcher 3 being my all-time favorite game. I think the biggest strength of The Witcher 1 is its atmosphere, and especially the music. Man, I just love the music in this game so much! The story is also surprisingly good, I actually enjoyed this more than the second game. It can be clunky at times, but the narrative is great. Truly underrated, and I hope the upcoming remake will let more people experience this game.

17:35 - Geralt's white hair is not the result of normal witcher mutations. If anything, he handled the "normal" mutations the best out of all witchers, that's why he was selected for extra mutations. THOSE ONES are responsible for his trademark white hair. Also - pure Igni build is so overpowered by Chapter 4 you don't even need to draw your sward most of the time.

Son, I really enjoyed The Witcher. It was one of the first PC exclusives I really got into. It was flawed, but I had a great time. But my favorite memory is unique to me. There's an... Adults-only reward to a quest in the village area. You need to escort a woman somewhere, and she tells you to meet at the mill for a reward. From then on, "Going to the mill" became my term for all the rambunctious conquests that followed. It's a term I love using, but never can, because it would take so long to explain. Looking forward to your Witcher 2 video, proud of you son.

As o Polish person with somewhat close ties to the fandom and being familiar with Sapkowski's writing really well, I can unfortunately say that you are wrong - we do not think of him as our Tolkien and we do not hold him in high regard. Most of the folks really love the books, the games and the lore, but not the person because he just is not a very pleasant person. In fact, he was frequently banned from conventions for insulting press and sexist remarks. THIS IS NOT a call to cancel the guy in any regard, rather a sad realisation that even the best authors can be really unpleasant human beings...

Witcher 1 is the part I've beaten the most times out of the entire trilogy - 5 full playthroughs. I adore it greatly and I can NOT wait for the remake, because I know a lot of people bounced right off W1 due to how dated it looked. And it has so much lore, such a great story, a lot of amazing dialogues which I hope a broader audience can appreciate :) The whole investigation in 2nd Act is one of my favorite questlines of the whole trilogy truthfully - it was amazing. Confusing, hard, expecting things of me I didn't know how to do at the time of my first encounter. I was still in grade school playing it for the first time.

My absolute favourite of the whole series. I love 2 and 3 for different reasons, but this captured so much magic of the books and the gameplay was unique for a CRPG. Excited to watch. Which if you haven’t read the books yet “son” you should give them a go, easy reads and really gripping.

Dear Mr. Son, Thank you for your great effort on this video. It must have taken an enormous amount of work to write, record, voice and edit. I've really enjoyed it. Best regards,

My favourite book series. I even have a custom tat of the wolf medallion and signs that takes up 3/4 of my forearm. Super excited to watch your perspective on it!
