Go for it. I learned to wheelie a mountain bike in my 50s. Five or ten minutes practice 3x day for 9 days. No progress, no progress, then breakthrough. Now doing it on a Surron electric MX bike. The smaller size and light weight definitely helps, plus having the rear brake on the bars.

@klxcountry Жыл бұрын
Level Up stunt team gives good advice for learning to wheelie. Cover the foot brake, slight clutch pop, and light throttle. As soon as you get the front wheel up, pull in the clutch let off the throttle, and apply the foot brake. Repeat this 100 times. All that being said, I prefer moving slowly In 1st or 2nd gear, let off the throttle briefly and compress the front forks and then give a throttle blip to get the front wheel off the ground.

Stay after it the clutch is your friend brake saves you stay after that throttle control best thing to do is practice a more rolling speed works for me plus learning to shift on a wheelie is good some can throw it back hard easily and slow back down working on it here

But when you're in a wheelie, how do you turn? I've seen some people turn while they wheelie, never a sharp turn, of course, but they turned. How you do that? Like, do you have to shift your body weight to a a certain side for a direction? If the bike is leaning sideways already how do you correct it back upright again?

I think the best way to learn wheelie is on a bycicle, after that it will transfer to the dirt bike. You have less risk of injury and you won't break the bike If you fall.
@gaspersoban61882 жыл бұрын
The biggest mistake your teacher oversaw was the Left, right balance. That's why you could not manage to have legs on pads. When your master this, you just need to learn how to control a brake on over balance point. Then you are good to go on any bike! But good progress for 1h. Would like to see an update = )

Control the fear and anxiety. Acknowledge the fear and anxiety. Respect the fear and anxiety. More often than not, people are just told to "pin it" or "just do it". The psycological aspect in situations like this is real, and not often talked about. Probably one of the most important aspects of lessons like this. Sure, it's not "Teaching a NOOB how to double back flip in an hour" but injuries happen when least expected (think about how often a skier or boarder gets hurt in the lift line, NOT on even on the run!), and injuries mean no more fun for you until you're healed. That's if the injury hasn't scared that person away from that activity/sport.

Biggest thing I see when teaching someone to wheelie is feet off the pegs & not being fluid on the bike. You can see him bring it up and he’s stiff as a board. Completely natural for beginners to bring their feet off instead of covering the rear brake.

I was never good at wheelies and a thoroughly mediocre rider at best. I could do short power wheelies but not the balance type. But back in the late 70's I had a fully tricked out FMF Elsinore that was HELL fast. I was riding along the railroad tracks in my small country town. I saw bump and thought to get a little wheelie. I was doing about 60mph and somehow I hit the balance point and rode that thing for about 200 yards. I was going past the low income housing projects and there was a group of guys standing by the fence partying. I knew most of them from school though in my gear and helmet they wouldn't have realized who I was. But they were hooting and hollering as I went by. I had to stop because trail ended about 50 yards past them. When I came back I stopped by the fence to talk and they were all like "man you can ride like a muther f***ker". I just smiled, I wasn't going to tell them the truth LOL. Never did that before or since. What a feeling though.

Lmao I did this on my zx10r this summer, never been able to crack a wheelie on my motocross bikes before but I was nailing it down a backroad and hit a bump doing 100+ and the front just came up really clean, held it there for a few seconds then sat it back down, trying to learn on the mx bike now but struggling keeping her in a straight line 🤣🤣
