Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I'm 63 years old now. At 18 we had a huge snow storm. Toronto hired an extra helper for each truck clearing sidewalks of elderly/disabled. $8.00/hr! Min wage was $2.00! Hired for 3 days. 7AM start. Left yard 7:30. Went to a diner. 1 hour. First house. I hit that packed snow with a gusto! Snow came off in neat, packed sheets! Easy! Told to stop and use up salt on back of truck. Was actually MORE work with that method and I was concerned that possibly elderly would still be somewhat trapped for another day! Soon break time. One hour. Maybe 3 more houses. Lunch. Hour and 15 mins. More houses but this time the 'foreman' spent more time knocking on doors to see if elderly had a son or daughter capable of doing the snow. A game to him. Break. One hour. Couple of more houses. Back to yard. 2:15! I asked what should I do till 3 PM punch out time? Hang out in the bathroom where I found about 20 other guys like myself smoking and killing time. - All this was a defining moment in my life. I never worked in a union environment again! I was downright ashamed of taking that money!

If you follow around the chief interviewed on this video secretly, I'll bet you will see him do an hour or hour and a half of actual work per day at most. This is why most government run offices are all failing. Look at the IRS. There are still millions that have not gotten a Stimulus Check from 2020 and we are in 2022. Yet, the super rich organizations can get things done for them instantly with one phone call. But, we the tax papers sometimes have to wait an eternity to get basic service. Here in New York City, we see city workers doing nothing all day too. They get paid between 25 to 35 dollars an hour to spend most of the day talking to their co-workers unsupervised or on their phones. There is no accountability in government.

That's why contractors are a better option. Plus some of the trees looked like they were on the home owners property that should be the owner liability and responsibility

This kind of corruption and fraud is in every department of every city. One example that comes to mind is the city HVAC inspectors who are paid to inspect new installation but would claim the homeowner wasn't home or he called and no one answered the phone, so the homeowner has to re-schedule for another day when in fact the inspector never showed up much less made a call to the resident..

I’m a tree worker a lot of trees within the city we cannot touch and at times we have to wait to confirm what needs to be done with the tree at times a certified arborist would have to investigate the tree and for stopping at stores we do not have a restroom with us so we go to an area that we can. And it’s driving around to get to the work area that takes time depending we’re the next tree is located.

It's amazing a reporter yelling at a man for not doing "A hard days work" . Following city workers around is "a hard days work" ??? 😥😥😥

That director is just as lazy as the employees on the street and obviously nobody is working in that government.
