I love when people leave reviews like "I went to another country to experience their culture without first researching the reasons or traditions of said cultures, and I hated how I had to actually take part in their culture." Because this is not england. How can you say you care about who is in office here when you don't even care to learn the language here. You can't even read the name of the person/party you say you support. That is embarrassing.

I briefly worked in a grocery store in a somewhat touristy area (I've worked in service multiple times, but only once was it where there was a lot of tourists). The amount of times were US Americans got legitimately mad (some just got confused, way better, but still pretty dumb) that they couldn't pay in dollars was WILD. Not something that would happen everyday, but that it happened at all and way more than once was, like...WHAT? I can't even imagine the level of shock they must experience when they got to a place where staff couldn't speak English, for the first time. xD

A friend, my husband, and I have all studied both kendo and kumdo (korean weapon arts). You don't even get to HOLD a real katana until you are rank 4-5. And one of our peers watched a kendo master (8+) accidentally slice through his achilles tendon when doing a demonstration. This is a man who has studied for decades and we all had a huge amount of respect for. And no one knew because that is how quickly and cleanly those blades cut. He had to TELL those present to call an ambulance. It is so wild people expect more.

this video is the perfect example of why people need to be researching what they want to do BEFORE planning to go there. as you said, a lot of the low ratings were about stuff that could be easily found out online like business hours and whether or not tattoos need to be covered. i feel like a lot of people, especially people from the US, have a hard time remembering that not everywhere has the same customs as wherever they came from. this video is also a good example of why you should be reading the content of reviews since people have different interests. like someone who hates being barefoot isn’t going to like the art exhibit but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad art exhibit.

the park seems like a japanese keukenhof which is like a central part to display all of the flowers that the country has to offer so it makes total sense for it to be priced. The amount of people working there and tending, and it's like a museum in a garden. From the massive gates, it's very clearly not just a normal park. I'm very happy that other countries have this idea :)

As a japanese person, I just want to say reviews like this are pretty common in Japan. There'll be reviews like: "food was excellent, quick and well priced, but the wifi connection was bad and I couldnt watch KZbin, 1 star" or "They had everything I needed, the worker made sure to package everything nicely and gave me a discount but their parkling lost had a plastic bag and some trash, 1 star!"
@vlo4829Күн бұрын
In Japanese, they sometimes use the word "park" when we would say "garden" in English. Unfortunately, in English, these words carry different feelings and expectations, so I understand people feeling ripped off at having to pay to visit a "park" but they understand paying for a "garden". If you call it a "garden", it automatically has more prestige and sounds better kept than a "park". It also sounds like it has more history.

I see where you're coming from and I'm very sorry that you have anxiety based off of going to places with bad reviews, but most of those reviews are written by people who are angry every time I want to write a review I'm like no because I actually don't even want to I'm just upset about something like half of these reviews Don't mean anything if you read all of the reviews written by the people that you think have a good review, they probably say the same thing under every Business, like I promise you unless it's healthcare or something very specifically personal that you do not want to have a boundary crossed on most places are fine to go to and figure out on your own because your perspective is going to be different than a person who's in their 40s reviewing it on a bad day they had

This was so eye opening and refreshing. Your expectations matter just as much if not more than the actual experience. Mmm I kinda have to disagree just a bit well more add something a park I went to in SA there was this bird that wasn't a parent but was really aggressive and I get brids live in nature but it took the bird clawing some kids face for them to call SPCA and get the bird removed for people's safety the pathway was there first as when I asked around this one lady said it's about time since she likes to go with her children but from about the past year she's had to avoid that path since the bird is there and I totally agree she said the park should have either close that pathway or put a warning sign because luckily the kid was ok apart from some cuts pretty deep but he still had two eyes. The park definitely should have a sign at all entry ways saying beware the crow is agressive

Hey Mia! I loved the video and am so excited you had a lovely trip. But I just want to let you know for the doctor fish that there are some ethical concerns. These fish don’t eat dead skin off your feet unless they are starving, so they aren’t given anything else to eat. They are not a native species (from the Middle East) many die in transit and can become an invasive species if released to the wild of the area. In addition, the tanks are hard to clean and there is risk of staph infections because of the fish’s bacteria. I don’t mean to ruin your experience, I’m just letting you know for future reference! If people could like this so Mia can see this!

Came to the comments to see if anyone else had brought this up. It's actually illegal where I live for hygiene reasons. My partner leaned about it when getting liscened to do nails.

Fun fact: orchids are parasitic plants that like to grow off of trees so in the wild they’re usually suspended or upside down! So they’re pretty happy to grow like that. They also don’t need direct light so are great indoor plants.

I hate how people from english speaking countries (mostly americans) always expect everyone to speak english and always expect all the countries to use their language but never once think about learning or just using google translator and then just get mad at people for not using english in a non-english speaking country 😵💫

Treating the country/city like a theme park too, while being completely oblivious of the cultural social rules 😔

tbf in most countries english is taught in school
@jhunasci7 ай бұрын
@@makadoodledoo which means nothing. it is still dumb and disrespectful to expect the rest of the world to use YOUR language. english is taught in schools where I live but if you ask someone to say anything in english they’ll only know a few words. you can’t expect everyone around the world to know english, if you’re visiting a country at least use google translator if you don’t want to learn the language.

Totally agree with you. I am Spanish and I work in the tourism sector, facing the public. There are people who expect you to adapt to them wherever they are.

As a foreigner (from a Spanish speaking country) that is living and working here in Japan, I did my very best t learn the language before even trying to get a job, I cannot understand how some people expect for Japan to adapt to their language, yes japanese is not an easy language but as Mia said google traslate works wonders! I don't expect other people to speak to me in Spanish if I go let's say to an English speaking country....

“Reviewing” with one’s financial privilege without showing one’s financial privilege with a 1 star review. I’ve had opportunity to travel with great financial burden and years of savings… I’m grateful for the many countries I’ve travelled- Thank-you Mia! I have Japan on my bucket list- now I have sub categories to check off!
