Pshh... And we always used the wooden plunger made specifically for mashing ... well potatoes and other stuff that needs to be mashed. But ye, putting out any effort is a torture for me I'll definitely look for one of the mashers -if I can afford it, whole world shitting on me personally and all that-

If you want the unagi don to be really vegan, you have to use a dashi powder that doesn't contain katsuobushi. There's vegan dashi powder that substitutes shiitake instead of the tuna.

I’m wondering if the mushrooms could be air fried instead of deep fried. Not saying I wouldn’t use oil, but my air fryer is great with tofu and small potatoes. Anyone try this? These recipes look great and I appreciate the advice about trying something you think you hate…eggplant for me!

I love it when people actually know what they are doing when following a TikTok recipe- have all the ingredients, do it carefully, are confident in the kitchen. It’s so satisfying to watch when they make it properly! These all looked really good, especially the mushrooms, reminded me of salt & pepper squid!

The idea behind the garlic press for mashing the potatoes is that it acts like a potato ricer, which is basically a super sized garlic press that fancy restaurants use to mash potatoes. So if you like the texture of the garlic press potatoes but don't want to spend forever doing tiny pieces through a garlic press, you can buy a potato ricer and do larger amounts of potato at once. Also are you using a vegan dashi powder? Because dashi is normally bonito (a type of tuna) with kombu

These look really good, I appreciate the vegan content. I wonder if the same consistency would be achieved using a potato ricer for the first recipe, that'd probably be faster since it's bigger. Your potato pillows are called "gnocchi" in Italy, actually "gnocchi di patate". They are very delicious but eaten as pasta traditionally with a sauce of butter and fresh sage and parmesan cheese , however you can use vegan butter and watch KZbin for vegan parmesan : it's a delicious winter dish in Northern Italy. 💖🇮🇹🤗😀😊👌😁 EDIT: gnocchi are made with wheat flour.

All 3 look really good! I love Mushrooms - but in Austria, it's a little different. We eat the coated and fried, with creamy Sauce Tartar or as a 'Schwammerlgulasch' - which can be Mushrooms with creamsauce or spicy Sauce. Very often it is Chanterelles with a creamy Sauce (containing onions, cream and parsley) and that is accompanied by a 'Knödel', thats a really big Dumpling made out of stale bread..

@Christina Brugger How interesting! My mom was from Liverpool, and would make "mushrooms on toast" - basically mushrooms sauteed in a bit of butter, then take them out of the pan and add in a bit of flour, salt, pepper, chopped parsley, and cook that til the flour isn't raw anymore. Add a bit of cream (or milk if you haven't any cream) to make a smooth sauce. Add the mushrooms back in to warm them up and serve atop hot buttered toast. So delicious and comforting, and something I have not made in years. (I will make this soon - it's a childhood favorite. Thank you for the reminder.) All the best, Christina!

Oh memories of middle school. We had a "who am I" project & I'm pretty sure most people had this in Elementary school where you draw a self portrait & underneath the teacher writes categories for you to fill in. Under food there were lines for fruits, veggies, snacks & main dishes & everyone else's looked the same on the veggie line, it was carrots, cucumber or celery or some kids just wrote gross no vegetables. There isn't a veg I've met that I don't like so mine had broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower, brussel sprouts like I filled that line & everyone thought I was so weird because I actually liked healthy food.
