So basically the ink spreads out into the water, and the soap breaks the bond of the water, but it only happens in the area the soap is in, so since the water away from the soap still has a bond, the ink is pulled towards the water with the bond, this only happens at the surface and not below it If I got something wrong, or missed something, tell me in the replies

the soap removes the surface tension of the water. You can demonstrate this by floating a needle on a bowl of water and one drop of soap will make it instantly sink
@itsConnorCreates2 ай бұрын
Interesting! Very neat! Thanks for the explanation
@SuneSkeel2 ай бұрын
Water is a polar molecule. Which basically means it has a positive charge in one end and a negative in the other end. This is very helpful when they bind together because it helps create surface tension. This surface tension can be broken by soap because basically a soap molecule is hydrophobic in one end and hydrophilic in the other (one end loves water the other repels it) this is helpful because it can attract both water and oil as a cleaning agent. But it also means it can break the water molecules apart and push then away from each other. And my guess is the ink is hydrophobic and shares some of the same properties as oil in this scenario. Which makes it float on the water and then is pushed away when the soap molecule interacts with it.

So interesting! And you explained it really well actually, so thank you! Much appreciated 😄🙌🏻

Like swirl dipping guitars....drag through it to direct swirls through it! The swirling give another level of achievement or what kids call now "satisfaction". Deeper dip tank and you can dip larger objects like guitars, bike helmets, shoes, etc. This has evolved into "hydrographics". You can print images, dissolve and apply the print in a dip tank.

The ancient Japanese art of suminagashi, which translates to "floating ink", is made possible by several scientific phenomena: surface tension, Density, Mixing, and Surfactants. Here's how these scientific principles work in suminagashi: Water surface tension: Allows artists to float ink on the water's surface Density: Colors float because they are less dense than water Mixing: It's important that the colors and water don't mix Surfactants: Surfactants, like soap, are added to the colors to control how they spread Artists use suminagashi to create marbleized paintings by layering ink and a mixture of water and soap, called "resistance", on top of each other. When the ink is moved, it structures itself into an abstract design. Artists can then transfer the pattern to thick paper by gently dropping the sheet into water and pulling it out from the side to let excess water drip off. After drying under something heavy, the paper will have a flat surface that shows the pattern. Suminagashi is the precursor to paper marbling, an art technique that uses designs to imitate polished marble. The practice also incorporates Japanese philosophy that emphasizes the value of nature, imperfection, and abstraction. If i got anything wrong pls inform me in Pls like this comments my hands hurt so bad
