Hey jameskii ive been a mechanic for a couple of years now and the fuel filter you have at 2:54 is known to be the number one reason fires can start under the hood. They are not quality and you should replace that filter with a WIX filter if you can, or else that living will might come true. luv the vids keep it up!

You really need to send that block to whomever did the work. That failure is insane, and no way did your run-times do it. Something was out of whack after the boring or the sleeve if they installed new ones.

@@NinoJoel Coming back to it the only way I could possibly see this happening by anything they did would have been some massive timing issue when they also had the air-fuel ratios wrong and it either suffered pre-det or fired too late, but would still require the sleeve to have been paper thin for the sudden pressure increase to cause that damage. Which just runs back to it being the machinists fault.

@@foughtwolf got curious and checked in my storage. Had 2 of these engines sitting there. One turbocharged and one NA. The pistons are visibly smaller on my engines. If I can see it with bare eyes it makes me wonder what the shop thought when they where milling out the block.

Even had one break out the entire bottom end since the bearing points of the crank broke of from the power output of the engine. Not one Zylinder wall failure... I over the holidays asked my parents if they had heard of the yugo, my mothers response was and I quote “ Oh boy have I, those things were dumpsters on wheels” apparently her friends dad fell in love with the look of the car and bought two of them off a guy who had connections and was able to get them imported into the USA for a “reasonable price”. According to my mom the first one barely lasted a month before it broke and the second one was sold almost immediately. Ya know you got to give the yugo credit for one thing at least, it was apparently memorable enough that the mere mention of it is enough to make someone irrationally angry for the rest of a Christmas party apparently 😂.

As a car guy i had a blast watching this, it also showed alot of usual frustrations with any project cars that are freshly built. But at this point i would just swap it with a honda d series engine, cheap shitloads of aftermarket very simple wiring, mounts can be made using 3d scanner, axles will probably need to be custom made but thats nothing magical
