I was blown away by how this campaign went. And hope to do another one in the near future. Check out my review of Groover here: otherrecordlabels.com/groover

Thank you so much for this great review Scott! It's so interesting to see how a "catalog" track can actually perform really well on Groover, especially towards playlists curators 🙂

Hey man great stuff. Thanks for the walk through and congrats on the track. I do wonder if a song with no listens from an unknown artist would have done as well? Maybe that should be a factor for the next one. Also would have been cool to see the impact on your streams and how you track all that in your Spotify for Artists. Follow up video on that? All the best!

Great Video here with lot's of good suggestions. I have a brand new band, after submitting to 15 playlists, we had 5 shares, which I thought was pretty cool. After watching your video here, I now feel confident using Groover is a good thing... Thanks again!

I use groover, I am a curator on there so I get pitches of lots of cool songs and the pitch you write is something that the curators are asked to read as it helps us write some feedback. It doesn't matter if it's an old song or new the curators enjoy getting any music to listen to. Groover is great for a lot of things I also send my artists to Groover to use for other playlists. Also the people you submitted to have 7 days to write back to you and if they don't you get a refund of groovers.

Hey i started using Groover and loved the feedback section. It reinforced that I am on the right path but I definitely need to look deeper into each playlist i submit to and not just go by a general description. Because it they say it's not a "right fit" it's not just a brush off. It takes a lot more time but I believe that point is key for sure.
@TheJoeyBones10 ай бұрын
Hey, you might want to actually read the feedback from u n indie folk music! Its a really great compliment, followed by a description of what they're looking for on their playlists, and that's it! I feel like the feedback in this situation is only useful to you if it's telling you what they're looking for. That's information about what's trendy in your specific genre. Maybe you've got a different catalog song to pitch them that fits, or a new one that's about ready to go that would fit. You'd already have a head start by knowing what these people are specifically looking for.

I will like to know if i can promote my artist newly release singles on groover, I have already published it through other publisher. It was release late November 2023. and planning on shooting the musical video next month. The song is already on spotify, amazon music, pandora etc. currently has 500+ views on youtube.

Yes 100%! Groover is not a distributor, so if you've released the track already -- you then use Groover to help you promote an already released track. Whether that song is 1 week old, or in my case 10 years old!

One aspect that you didn't address in this video, and I believe is quite an important one and overlooked all the time, is the return of investment. Did the amount of streams you got from the money spent pay off? Were you able to make this money back? If you're running a business and you're spending money on marketing, and you're not keeeping track if it's resulting in covering your costs then you're heading towards failure I believe. Either way seems like a great platform, and thanks for your videos. I don't know any other channels focused on running a label, which is a shame, I think there should be more.
@somnous8 ай бұрын
Artists invest a lot more for a lot less. They spend thousands on music videos which i think it is a worse ROI compared to something like groover. I would chalk it up as a marketing tactic but musicians do a lot of things for the love and exposure that don't cover costs but hope to benefit down the line.
@lazeedogrecordlabel6 ай бұрын
@@somnous I agree, I create 99% of the music videos inhouse i do it as a hobby and enjoy it. But I am already getting ad revenues form YT and hopefully more next year. A vital thing you state - ROI! I have seen apps etc where you automate ads or listens on spotty adn no one asks te ROI. I watched a few bands who perform too and they may likely b e after investing hundreds of dollars into promoting new releases to tie in with shows. But if you dont perform there is little roi if any.

So far I have spent $130 and received x1 playlist submission. Now It is a good playlist and I am grateful, but the biggest issue that I have is: While I take time to study each curater, to make sure that my track matches their wants, I still get the generic responses like: "The track is great, great vocals and such however, your track is not what we are looking for." Or it doesn't fit our playlist. To me this seem as if the curater is writing just enough to get paid per the rules, but then resorts the the tired old: It doesn't match our wants and such. This is lame as I carefuly pick each curater to adhere to what they are accepting (genre and wants). Something fishy going on there. Will I continue to use Groover? No I will not. Cheers from Australia.

I'm giving it a go. I pour my soul into my music, like many others. What I see is that Groover let's you reach out to So called curators. Other platforms do this in the middle. I don't like to beg curators for clicks. This is my last attempt; after this, I'll just build my own audience

I sent a couple of my songs to groover, some of the reviews were actually unintelligible, who are the reviewers? iI they can't even write a sentence that makes sense why would I care what they thought of my song. Are the reviewers qualified to be making critiques of anyone's music, if I sent my song to Rick Beato I would be certain to be hearing from an experienced professional, but the guys on groover just seem to be any old hack.

@ericeracleous94049 ай бұрын
The problem with Groover i found was most of the curators plalists are dead playlists. If your song is added for a month you get no streams from them. So its a waiste of money imo. The only good one i got my song on was one of the 4 groover playlists. Honestly the streams i got in that month just about covered what i paid to get on it. Withing 3 weeks of being taken off i lost all the monthly listerners i gained. I mean WTF imo very bad value for money.

Question for you, do you think any of the songs on the playlists your pitching too have songs on their that are songs they discovered not via submission and shared? It seems like this is a grift for people who run playlists, how else do they monetise the work they do, where is the incentive for a curator? They only have so much space and seemingly reject most people for no good reason, actually even caught out for just stock responses from many stories I’ve read. Also, is this how you personally engage with music? I don’t know anyone in the real world that finds music through playlists like this, I suspect the listens on a lot of them are also botted to draw more musicians to submit music to the playlist and continue the grift. The terrifying truth is there is no magic formula, make music with your heart and to the best of your ability, make sure you have some visual content for it, upload and hope for the best.

well i was upset cause' i've found the general thing pretty confusing and kind of useless as most of those promo services, i don't know how much reliable the curators are....cause' the more they refuse your the song the more you keep on paying the service and then you keep on send tracks etc. So it's kind of tricky to me man, beside i believe in your video, no problem about that
