It is the most annoying thing about Ridgid that they NO LONGER have a charging radio. I really wanted to get the charging radio model, only to learn it was discontinued years prior ....... For anyone who asked, and who I commented on earlier, the Ryobi Expand-it products fit and work perfectly with the Ridgid trimmer power head. I have the brush cutter expand-it and I think I prefer using it by far for trimming than the actual weedeater head. The only thing I prefer is the grey of the ridgid shaft better than the black but beggars can't be choosy haha

I'm a total Ridgid fan boy, but the idea of 18volt yard tools didn't appeal. I have the Menards brand 80volt tools which blow away everything else I've ever seen. However, I would buy that chain saw in a second! The 80volt chain saw is quite hefty/heavy. This one you could hang on your belt! We have quite a few branches down around the property after our massive ice storm. I wish I had one now.

I would say, "coming late to the game with basic DIY". I like a good radio for outdoors and workshop/garage. My 2 Ridgid radios are basic and underperformers. You have to use a Ridgid APP to use them. I have a Dewalt by far outperforms Ridgid Radios with no special app-it charges batteries. I have a Ryobi Pole and chain saw -I needed them and Ridgid didn't have any. I am glad you know when astrological spring starts. Just learned something the other day and This is No Bull. The weather on local News in Albuquerque. Metrological Spring starts March 1, Summer is June 1st, Fall is September 1st and Winter is December 1st. New to me!!

all things considered i think it's a great option especially for homeowners who already bought ridgid tools for the lifetime warranty and dont want to branch out to ryobi 40v because all they need to do is clean their yard a bit and they already have ridgid batteries and no other trimmer and blower has lifetime warranty. i say woot

I love my Ridgid power tools, especially because of the LSA. On the other hand, I've got just about every Ryobi 40V tool for my yard (which isn't particularly big), and yet I go through a whole bunch of 3, 4 and 5 AH 40 V batteries (the 6 AH ones are for my mower) when I'm doing the full yard--something you'd need a boatload of Ridgid 18V batteries and chargers for, assuming that you could get equivalent power from the 18V platform vs. Ryobi's 40V platform (which I sincerely doubt). The weed-wacker might work of an 18V battery. But the blower--no f'ing way.

I've been using an 18 volt (just like DeWalt they call their tools 20 volt because when fully charged the battery show 20 volts) Worx leaf blower for about 5 years now and it's great. However some people need a 40 volt tool because they like playing with their leaf blowers when a large rake & trash can would easily do the job.

@@jayryan7473 For Ryobi, an important difference between their 40V and 18V blowers (in addition obviously to power and capacity) is that the 40V systems come with 5 year warranties and the 18V ones are only 3 years. Since I'm heavy into their 40V platform for multiple blowers, multiple weed whackers, outdoor vacuum, wet/dry vacuum, edger, pole saws, chain saws, pressure washer and more, having their 40V blowers simply makes sense. And they work great for de-watering a freshly washed car.

I bought the Milwaukee version with saw, wacker, extension, henge cutter. IT IS a beast! Came with 8amp battery. I use the ridgid shop blower for leaves last about 40 mins. Just swap battery and move on. That said, my 7 main ridgid have not failed yet. Drill, impact, impact wrench, mini impact wrench, radio, blower, and new octane 71/4” saw $85!!!

I feel like since they're all owned by the same company, they switch their influence around to get the markets to buy other products some years, and this could be an off year for ridgid. That said, I do believe they listen to customer feedback, and pushing reviews could influence them to improve tools for later models, possibly even bigger battery platforms, and I've used ridgid tools for the better part of a decade, and will continue to do so, even though some years I do not rush to buy new tools

Great video. Looks like ok stuff if you’re already into the Ridgid line, and definitely better than having to buy a bunch of new bat-rays, but I just watched your video with that nifty little 40V Ryobi 12” chainsaw and it looks like it went through the 6x6 almost twice as fast. Hey a few extra seconds a week probably isn’t a big deal for many but too bad they don’t have a 40V line.

Good review. I do believe however that all these tools were meant to run on the 8 and 12 amp not the 6. I believe the tools would have felt less underpowered, especially when those have the 21700 cells. I understand using the 6 amp, if it is what you have, it is what you have.

Looks like the head turns counter clockwise on the line trimmer,and that’s a good thing.When it turns clock wise your pants and shoes get covered in grass and the odd stone can hit your face.This tool would be good for the average suburban home owner who is already on the Ridgid 18 volt platform.

Don't do it! That Milwaukee has some serious issues with vibration. Look into it online. I have one and never use it anymore because of the vibration. You can fix it if you replace the head with another brand, by why have to do that on something so expensive? Go with EGO for all your outdoor power equipment. Trust me, you won't be disappointed at all.

I'm going to go ahead and share this with you as a freebie I was at the Home Depot tonight checking out the clearance area. I ended up buy a Rigid battery kit but not just any kit. It is a Max Output Battery Kit, consisting of a Bag, Charger, 4.0 MaH Battery and 6.0 MaH Battery. Both are the Max Output Battery's. I Paid $85 + tax. That is correct, there is no typo, you dont glasses. Eighty Five dollars plus tax. Don't look for it online it doesn't exist. I was at this same store Monday evening and checked the price on the kit, it was $119 then and there were 2 of them. Tonight 1 and it was $34 less. Check them clearance prices because what's listed on those endcaps is not correct it's probably much lower.

I've watched another review on that chainsaw and it's definitely only good a small niche list of uses imo, but even then still low power. hate the useless plastic bucking spikes but they'll put a metal tip on the blower-wth ridgid??? i really wanted to see that trimmer perform but this video proved to me gotta stick to at least 40v for ope. blower seemed decent but it sure is huge for an 18v platform.

I got 3 weed eaters that will run circles around all 18 volt and most gas models. Try out kobalt 80 volt they come apart just like ridgid. I got a universal pole saw attachment and a universal tiller attachment and can't get it to bog down. They work amazingly we use them for pastures on the farm. Weed eat on pond dam in tall grass and add blade attachment and clean thickets and bryers and thorny weeds. I got craftsman junk, and some of ridgids 1st generation junk and then several other things from ridgid thats decent. I got dewalt paint sprayer thats awesome and Milwaukee and kobalt. Only reason for so many different is like Milwaukee makes certain things good and certain on ridgid and so on so I got a few of everything.

I bought the trimmer and I can get about 5 min of run time on the slow setting and then the trimmer shuts off. Seems it's overheating? I was using the 6ah octane batteries. Had the same issues using the new 6ah max output batteries Has anyone else had issues with the trimmer shutting down/stop spinning? After the trimmer cools down I can start it back up.

I think they 8 and 12 are the batteries that are made for all their outdoor equipment they are the new EXP batteries you can put the others on it but they're not made for it they cannot put out the power that the tools need

I think the minimum voltage for OPE should be 40v if you buy something…. A lot of 18 v is just not a that powerful but good for someone that has a small yard or doesn’t have much to do or maintain .

I disagree, Calc. I need/use a chainsaw or polesaw maybe twice a year. When I do, it is light duty. For these purposes it is much easier to charge a battery than deal with the trouble and maintenance that accompany carburetors and small engines. For my needs, I will happily trade a bit of power loss for convenience. My point is simply, the best product is often dictated by one’s need and use.

I have the other blower that’s about half the price of this one and it does pretty good with the 6amp battery. May be a decent consideration for those that want a ridgid blower but don’t want to spend nearly $200. I think I paid $70 for the other and it gets the job done. It lasts about a solid 20 minutes or so at full speed? Then again maybe not cause I tell my wife the same thing about me and she disagrees. BAM! There’s also a dinky blower that’s like a mini blower which I also have, it works decent to blow off light stuff like dry leaves off a porch etc. It also does stuff like blow up air mattresses and pool floats. But I always just bust out the mid sized one because why would I use the lesser power one when I can have the moar power one.

All we know Ridgid is going down hill.....the only thing we don't know is the relationship between TTi and Emerson, may be downhill as well, Emerson need TTI for his battery platform plus variety of tools options and TTi need Emerson Ridgid plumbing expertise for Milwaukee M18 line. Ridgid should never have released this in the USA. Seems pretty mediocre when Ryobi 40v is out there. AEG has 58 volt outdoor power tools. I bet those are way more quality items that would have fit the Ridgid brand better.
