Today I tried the newest art supply in the art world...Karin paint pens! These are the decobrush sets and I bought the ENTIRE collection of them to test out and try. The paint pens are amazing and in my opinion even better than posca paint pens! I love markers that are filled with paint but Poscas are Japanese art supplies that are without a doubt the best. HOWEVER...Karin could easily replace these...

Ok so I’m learning Posca DOES have brush pens BUT they are more like a physical brush with separate bristles, whereas this one is a brush nib in regards to a copic style which I prefer! But I’m glad to know that Posca does have a brush style!

I'd have to have a few questions answered because I am chronically ill, as well as the cost. Is there a smell? Do they have refills? It is what stopped me from buying other types of marker sets.

@@NoAssumptionsBoutique I think it depends on how much you have invested in one or the other and if your happy with your current choice or unhappy! I believe that the best paint markers may be the Molotow refillable markers! They also have a lot of different nibs and sizes!

I love that you resisted making a "50 shades of grey" joke. I wouldn't be able to. Posca does have brush markers just not in many colors. And the brush isn't exactly fantastic (IMHO). These look interesting. Just wish bringing Karin into the US was easier, can be annoying finding stores that carry them sometimes.

I value opacity above almost anything else. I use molotow one4all, and i think they’re more opaque than these. They need a wider colour range though. Molotow truly draw on anything. Edit: Also Archer & Olive Acrylograph. They’re expensive, but they’re opaque and permanent, including on fabric. Really wide colour range too.

@tuula4646

The Acrylographs are great! I've been using them for a bit more than year at this point and I do like them better than my Posca markers, mostly due to the color range. My only problem with them is that A&O sadly discontinued the 3mm line and only has the 0.7mm now, so I won't be able to get replacement once mine are done. And the newer colors didn’t even get the 3mm sets. :( (though some 3mm sets hadn’t sold out completely the last time I checked) I've also bought a single Karin decobrush in black a few weeks ago and since I'm someone who does a lot of handlettering as well, I'm really appreciative of that one as well. It wouldn’t be what I'd choose for drawing smaller things, doodles or line art, which I really like the Acrylographs for, but it’s nice for either filling bigger spaces in a drawing with black or well, handlettering on virtually anything I could want a handletter on. :) I've actually thinking about buying a colored set, which would probably end up being the pastel one, since I'd want color variety and the basic set is a bit too, well, basic.

Another problem with the Acrylographs is, that A&O has started discontinuing the .7 mm pens from old collections as well, which is honestly downright annoying. I understand that they’re not able to have endless options, but it’s sad that that means even the most basic ones don’t get restocked. :(

And it's a primary color too! Before I realized that I was always annoyed that I couldn't make a good purple bexause there was yellow in my red for some reason! That's cause it's not a primary color... When getting new paints this time I got magenta, red, yellow, green, cyan, and blue and made the perfect purple with blue and magenta! I was so happy! I get that since mixing paint is mixing chemicals and using the tried methods are easier. But applying actual science makes color theory easier for beginners and we've known the science of color theory for a while! People need to start teaching the correct primary colors. It bugs me so much. 😆

Chloe you look fantastic today hun! I love your hair when you style it that way, it totally suits you! It's great seeing you getting all excited over new art tools. You're like a kid in a sweet shop, bless your heart. It made me smile. I really liked that illustration you did with the new pens. I love the look of them. It's the pastels that draw me to them mainly, they look very tempting, and the artist/hoarder in me wants them so badly. I think that Posca will have to keep a look out coz it looks like Karin could give them some serious competition. I would rather spend the £209 that the entire set is here in the UK than spend any money at all on Posca pens. Posca pens are a rip off. Yes they are good pens, but by crikey does the company make you pay they the nose for them! Anyway, thanks for another fun video, I really love your channel.

This video is a perfect example of why I enjoy watching you so much. I feel like a mom watching you open a Christmas present. You are funny, goofy, talented and beautiful. I especially liked the "sotto" voice when you said the price. Hey that's less than a cup of coffee per marker! I really like the box set up. My Poscas are just loose in a cup, and it has irritated me that they only have the sizes. All highlights are not the same shape or size, I could be wrong. I don't always smell my art supplies, but I do always lay them all out to look at them. I only swatch to know what's in my palette. Be good, stay safe and definitely buy more stuff! ❤🎨🌼

The Walmart paint markers are a pretty good dupe for posca markers the thing that goes wrong with the Walmart markers is that even if you keep the cap on them after you activate them the tip will dry up after a while but considering they are a dollar they are still pretty good if you need a certain color and don’t want to wait for shipping 😅

I've been working with Karin Markers for a while now. I prefer their water soluble line much more over this line. The acrylic paint markers are very juicy at first but if you want to draw larger areas they dry out in the middle of drawing and you have to wait quite a long time until the marker is juicy again. They work fantastic for calligraphy and small shapes like you did here but they don't work with larger shapes like poscas do. I really recommend the water soluble ones because they stay juicy and are so much fun to use and a bit cheaper as well. They're like watercolor brush pens.

If you use a black permeant marker and draw a broad line across the page, you can then swatch right across it leaving a bit either side. This way you can also check the opacity of any paint/marker on your swatch. I’ve found this invaluable, especially if I do or don’t want to cover something up. It takes no more time and you gain extra information on your colours. I generally find opacity information on tubes to be a little off.

I love these markers so much and I bought them when they came out and I don’t regret it! My only issue is that I am sometimes scared to use them because they were so expensive :(

Ooooh. I recently got a set of paul reuben oil pastels. They came in a really pretty and neat box to keep them in.

I really adore the pastels they have! And beautiful purples (I love purples!) I hope these will be available here cause shipping would end up being more than the actual box!

I got some of the karin paint brush pens, in my scrawlrbox and I really like them, I've never used posca pens. I think the only thing I wish for any paint pens, I wish they would come out with some refillable ones 😅 But you did a really great job show casing these Chloe

I just got some Karin Markers recently and Oh my goodness, I love them! I found that the more you shake them, the more opaque they look on black paper from the first layer. At the risk of committing sacrilege, I've not really liked POSCA markers as much as Molotow or Pilot Pintor markers. Between the latter two I'd go for Molotow as they're refillable. Also when I used Posca markers, they tend to flood despite me being gentle with them. 🤔 I really want to try the Karin Watercolour pens too. 😊

I wish Molotow wasn’t so crazy expensive in the US. And I wish they came out with more colors too.

@@crownofeunoia1907 yep, more colours would be nice. I have a full set and there are one or two colours I wish for.

Aw, love your drawing! Never heard of POSCAs having physical bristle brush pens either! Now I want some! I have the Karin watercolor paint pens and they are so juicy! In the end I’ve hardly used them because it felt like such a waste to just do random, practice pieces with them… :X They are rather pricey after all but they definitely feel premium! If I can make up my mind on what to do with paint markers I’d get a few of these :P
