One dude … ONCE put a bomb in his shoe. And we’re pretending like it’s a regular thing and we need to check everyone for it. What about the guy who literally put a bomb in his underwear before he got on a plane? Will the same machine that checks your WHOLE body also check your feet? Yeah, I thought so.
@DannyDangerOz
@DannyDangerOz Күн бұрын
Yep one dude once, and now everyone has to take their shoes off if they want to board a plane. 320+ school shootings in the US in 2024, no one has to have background checks or psych evaluations to own military grade weapons.
@kickassnetwork
@kickassnetwork Күн бұрын
The normal MMwave scanner at the airport would actually check the underwear, it just can't get the bottom of your foot (which this would). But really it's still security theater. It would prevent someone who absolutely did not research and decided to walk into an airport with a gun. But not someone who did some research on the weaknesses of these devices.

I assume this is prototype tech? It's obviously relatively pointless to put it in a module like that, if it has a one second scan time. You can easily have people walk down a narrow corridor and get auto scanned in a way where the only thing that makes it obvious to most people is a sign telling people their shoes are being scanned. There appears (so far) to be no reason for people to stand on a box like that unless they aren't planning on scanning everyone.

That isn’t a fair comparison because the plane crash category is the main category in which terrorist attack in a plane would be a subcategory. Of (if there’s a terrorist attack, likely that would be a plane crash). Also you’re actually doing what many people mistakes of, especially in the field of cybersecurity. Lower terrorist attacked should be applauded as the result of the added security, not instead used as a tool to say the added security is too much

if you have a removable jacket and so on, you have to take it off too for regular clothes, you just have to empty them from any objects, while taking off your shoes does that automatically the regular CT scanner they use doesn't really see the feet that well, it scans the body mainly, so that's why the shoes have to get taken off as of now, it's a "blindspot" and the clothes aren't (unless there are multiple layers)

The TSA is a waste of money and entirely theater. Not only did they fail over 80% tests done BY THE GOVERNMENT with inside knowledge, but the sheer amount of money currently spent on the TSA could actually prevent more possible terrorist attacks, while also making planes generally safer spaces, and costing LESS, by instead paying for air marshals to be stationed on planes instead of any screening equipment whatsoever, and it would have a higher effectiveness rate.
