No, the problem with the self regenerating wall wasn’t the lava, put simply it doesn’t matter how many repeaters you put down, the cycle is still going to be going at the same speed, regardless of how long you make the steady stream of redstone signals travel. What you actually could have done is either used a different design of redstone clock, or you could have added more hopper for the item to cycle between.

When you were in the boat on the ice road, it didn’t work because you didn’t use a launching mechanism of some kind to get you INTO the water. You were just getting the normal speed that happens riding a boat ON TOP of the water.

For the self building wall you want to place an observer to detect the cobble being created! Then hook that up to a piston! If you want the wall to build up equally then place an observer at the end of where the wall is the that detects the full layer then pushes it up!

As a redstoner I can tell that won't work as the observer will detect the piston pushing too making the pistons always move , how ever you can you a repeater strong powering last block and then from the other side run a redstone line to power the pistons

You can extend the hopper clock timing by making it 2x2 but if you made it 2x1 it will be much faster
