Well I've looked at her family tree (via genealogy online. Don't know how accurate it is) and her family are white Irish and (further back) British people on both sides. Her father's grandmother Ms Chrishy is the granddaughter of Hamilton Brown who was an Irish slave owner in st Ann, Jamaica and Brown's town is named after him. Donald, Kamala's father (in his memoir) showed an image of Ms Chrishy that looked like a light skinned black woman or mixed but going by the genealogy/ancestry of both of her parents, she was full white. Her husband was white too so her son oscar must have been white and Beryl Finigan's ancestry is pure white too. Maybe Beryl had an affair with a mixed race man and got pregnant with Donald and Oscar accepted him as his own. Kamala has only a teaspoon of black in her gene pool. She's predominantly white Irish and Indian. Her Jamaican family are from high society, owned slaves and were extremely wealthy. In fact, Hamilton Brown was very upset that slavery was abolished. Harris (I can’t remember what the channels name was). He was giving a lecture on his genealogy. He said he was 1/2 Irish & 1/2 Hindu Indian. He also talked about his grandmother being a Hindu house servant for an Irish family in Jamaica. The video was older had to be in the 80’s or 90’s. At the time he was a professor at Stanford. However, this year when all this mess started about Kamala’s background I tried to find that video lecture! To my surprise it seems to have been wiped from the internet!!

I’ve been listening to these episodes on Kamala’s family as I do other things so not always looking at the pics and also needing to review them to understand all the connections that you’re making. Just a couple takes on what I’ve understood you to be sharing so far: Donald J’s father Oscar married Vioris 6 yrs after Donald J was born. You can’t find any record of Oscar being married to Beryl Finnigan. But Oscar and Beryl are listed as Donald J’s parents in his wedding announcement in the paper. Slave owners used to freely take their slave women to bed. Could it be that if Beryl were “the help” and possibly a former slave of Oscar’s family, that he did bed her and she bore Kamala’s father? Maybe she even raised him as her own, but after 2 yrs, Oscar wanted to acknowledge Donald J as his, so maybe a fake death certificate of Beryl’s Donald was made to explain why she no longer had full responsibility for a little boy, but was “let” instead to raise him as “black mammy’s” did for many of their slave owners’ children. Then when Oscar married Vioris, Donald would have technically been a part of their household as opposed to Beryl and Lawford Newland’s. Lawford may have overlooked the fact that Beryl was “mothering” this son from her boss, but like a stepfather to a child who has a much wealthier real father, would have had little interaction with Donald J, maybe even discouraged from trying to have anything to do with him. Perhaps the Jamaican culture then was much like ours now where children born out of wedlock have their closest relationships with their biological parents even if they marry other people. That could account for Donald J’s acknowledgement of Beryl as his mother and totally ignoring Vioris, as well as the different last names of the parents in the wedding announcement. I can see how you see similarities in Vioris’ cheekbones compared to Kamala’s. However, the “Beryl” in the picture from Kamala’s book also has those prominent cheekbones. And if I’m remembering the lady she said was her grandmother (are you calling HER “Black Iris”?) in the pic holding Kamala as a baby, she also had the prominent cheekbones similar to Beryl’s in the pic with Kamala. I also think that Vioris looks like she might have some Native American (maybe from South or Central America) in her bloodline. She doesn’t look European white really. Something about those high cheekbones again suggests Native to me. Trying to figure out where Donald J got his long face because neither Oscar, Beryl, or Vioris’ look as long and oval as his. Though with Kamala’s mother’s face being long and oval as well, it’s easy to see why that is such a prominent feature in Kamala.

Most persons born in St. ELIZABETH in that period late 1800s and early 1900s is of white decent My Great Grandfather was German and my Great Grandmother was Scotish. This verifies she and her family's standing as Brahmin caste. Her parents would NOT have had such very high jobs in government. Period. They are a government elite family. She was never a poor (or middle class, as she is now claiming) black child. She was never running the streets. Her parents probably did experience some racism early on because they are dark, may have been active in the civil rights movement when she was tiny, as she does claim. But when people say "black", we mean those of African origin, and commonly of African American culture. She is none of those. She is Caucasian through and through, because Indians are considered in the Caucasian category. She is a poc, but not "black".
