Hatzegopteryx by far. It was a massive species of azhdarchid pterosaur native to modern day Hungary. At the time it was an island, and the dinosaurs on the island shrunk in size due to a lack of food sources. Hatzegopteryx, with a wingspan of over 30 feet and a standing height of 15 feet, was the apex predator on the island. It didn’t fly to hunt, acting more like a massive land stork, walking around and striking from above with its beak.

The Blue-footed Booby is epic. Not only is the name goofy, but finding mates for them is just seeing who can copy cat each other the best and who has the most blue feet (the bluer means the better it's health.) If they are really healthy even their beaks and face can be blue

I'd say the Haast's Eagle which is actually the inspiration for the Pouakai. It was the top predator of New Zealand before the arrival of the Maori. This huge bird had a wingspan of around 3 meters and was so badass it would hunt prey that's 15× its own weight.

I know little about prehistoric animals, but the most “B.A.” flying animal currently existing is definitely the golden eagle. There’s no flying animal that looks more badass to me than an eagle with a flying hood on. Just my opinion though. My favorite bird is the peregrine falcon though, but I would call that bird amazing rather than badass. I’ve considered getting a license to own and fly raptors but it’s a lot of work, the type of hobby that you have to dedicate all your free time to.

I have to say the woodpecker, most underrated bird ever. Every Time it strikes a tree it exerts over 1000G ON ITSELF. It has specially evolved to basically have a springy section at the back of its skull to stop its brain smashing through the other side. It has to close its eyes every time it hits a tree so they don't pop out of its head. I don't know about you but that's pretty BA to me.

My favorite birds are those in the Corvid family, particularly crows and ravens. They can make tools and have been known to drop small stones into a container of water to raise the water level high enough to be able to reach it to drink from it. Any bird smart enough to understand water displacement and able to mimic human speech is a threat.
