Honestly all the hate on Britney was so unjustified. She definitely worked for her career. It’s funny how the ppl forcing a child to be sexual will also throw shame at the same child for “only getting fame bc she’s sexual.” she clawed her way to the top, she literally started with just performing in malls. Along with being constantly harassed at 14 just bc she was famous. The public were vultures to her.

Well, her fans were (and are ) mindlessly ferocious so why shouldn't the authority figures who have to corral the pubescent hordes on a daily basis poke some fun at someone who is fabulously wealthy at their expense, but it didn't last long for sure but it was fun while it lasted (although I was kinda scared cuz I thought the end of the world was nigh)

Britney Spears still chose to play up her sexuality. Yes, it's what she was taught, but don't tell me she still had a choice at some point or another. She was discovered and she was a massive success and she probably still worked hard in some areas to a degree. But she was also catered to by Hollywood with many of the things she chose to take that they gave to her. The public are also vultures to everyone. So, if she couldn't handle it, she wasn't cut out for that industry.
@TypicalTroglodyte
@TypicalTroglodyte Ай бұрын
@@shawnwick2328 are you brain dead? you’re completely forgetting the fact that her family basically forced her to be like that. She wasn’t “catered to” she was assaulted, pressured, abused, and manipulated into her place by her contractors and her parents. They literally tried to claim her as incompetent and took power of her entire life. She was literally 16 in the “hit me one more time” vid, a child. she was groomed into her role from the age of 3. she didn’t get a choice when her parents and producers were forcing her.

Quotation marks around "written" is a strong choice. It's not an adaptation of Emma, like Romeo + Juliet (Baz Lurhmann), where like a stage show the original language remains and the setting is updated (which I also think is pretty creative.) It's inspired by Emma. It's hard to update comedies of manners because the manners of Austin's time are quite different than they are now. Also Clueless completely created thier own slang and style so it wouldn't seem dated to any particular era, and then the film became so popular it then influenced the era! Just because someone makes a good movie doesn't mean that they won't ever make a bad movie, and just because someone has made a bad movie doesn't retroactively make thier good movies bad.
@DarlingMissDarling
@DarlingMissDarling 2 жыл бұрын
It sounds like you misunderstand the definition of the word _written_. Clueless is great because it showcased it's own slang, style, fashion, etc. all while fully capturing the 90s in ways that would go on to be copied countlessly. Any Austen influences being interpreted have zero to do with it's status as a pop culture classic since the plot is certainly the last thing anyone is remembering about Clueless. 😆😭

Also as a side note, I noticed that a lot of the cast (at least 7) are pretending to do an American accent for some reason 😅 alongside the daughter character who’s obviously Irish irl, there’s Tracy Ullman who played Mother Nature, then in smaller roles there was Graham Norton - the irl Irish chat show host, Olivia Coleman, Yasmin Paige, Sarah Alexander and Steve Pemberton who played the dude who was unnecessarily pale haha. Not sure if it was maybe filmed in the UK? But yeah it just seems really weird to have such a UK heavy cast and then have them all doing American accents. I’d totally understand if it was just one or two, like the daughter kind of needs to sound the same as her mother right? But yeah I found that aspect also super weird.

Over a decade later now that I'm in my 30's, I can definitely see why lol Knowing it was written by a woman, it seems like she put all her own personal fears, insecurities, self hatred and hatred of other women in general into literally every character. If there was a moral to this story, it was lost amongst all the shaming that was never acknowledged as being wrong. The only redeeming thing about this movie the soundtrack 😂

David Mitchell (behind the camera) Steve Pemberton (writer who doesn't like the heavy balls joke) Mackenzie Crook (moustache guy) Sarah Alexander (Geanie) and Graham Norton (wardrobe guy) are all really respected British and Irish television actors, writers and presenters. It's unexpected to see any of them in a Hollywood movie, individually but all together is weird!! Also, That's NOT Graham Norton's voice!
