Its important to note they increased the base storage to 256gb now. On the 12R it was a $100 upgrade. Also the base RAM is 12GB now instead of 8GB, although thats less than the 16gb found when you spent the extra $100 on the 12R. When you look at it from that sense it doesnt seem so bad because you have better camera, an IP rating, etc.
@zerostat10 сағат бұрын
I have the 12R and love everything about it except the curved display. I ordered the 13R because of the flat display, I expect to be happy with it since most of us don't need all the bells and whistles of a top tear smartphone. There is great value if you go for the OnePlus trade-in program as well. At the end of the day they ar just phones with some additional utilities.

@Fister_of_MuppetsСағат бұрын
In the U.S., the 13R is $599, but keep in mind that's also 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. If you wanted a 12R with 256 GB you would have had to pay $599 as well. I pre-ordered two 13R's, one for me and one for my partner. I opted for the free earbuds, she wanted the free watch with hers. Since it was a pre-order, there was a $50 discount off each phone that was a stackable coupon with another $50 coupon that I had. So, $524 per phone. Then a $148 trade-in on each phone, so $376 per phone plus the free accessories. Considering that the 13R bests the performance of most phones on the market (except the 13, or the new iPhone), I don't think $376/ea in my case is bad at all. I can live with the fact that it may not have the best-in-class cameras, but then again it's not a total flagship in that regard.
@puddud45 сағат бұрын
The 13R is for me. I want the new flagship experience without the excess of a modern flagship. I've gotten many of OnePlus's non pro phones. My ideal phone is fhd, one really good camera, epic battery life, modern features and modern looks. The 12R perfectly met my values but I wanted a flat screen so I held off. Now, with the 13R I'm a bit disappointed. 13R has 2 mid-range cameras rather than the one good hand me down sensor like we saw in the 12R. It's also the first OnePlus phone in the last 5 years to a have a single cell battery rather than a dual cell 🤬. I'm particularly disappointed because the phone I want exists. That phone is the OnePlus Ace 5 but it's only available in China. I have a feeling the 12R ate up too many 12 sales so they handicapped the 13R on purpose. If we got the Ace 5 then no one would've bought the 13

There’s no such thing as a perfect OS, they’re all gonna have their flaws, what may be fine with you might bug other people who want it fixed. (speaking millions of users & not 1-5 schools that used it for free, but i also can see ppl be surprised when snapseed gets discontinued, nobody know its existence or care - they only care if they announce it to trash it - classic) - not to mention they promised, that means there would be a big lawsuit if they dont offer it - exception would be go out of business which if google goes out, its over. Also its not that hard, they just dont give any new fancy features to the older phones. Android system updates arent anything major anymore, more like small changes with the UI and quick access but Android OS overall is "finished". doesnt need new kernel versions to work & still can be updated further if needed & there are no new protocols in sight that would change the whole android world etc. the only thing would be if there is a new filesystem that can work 5-15x times faster, codecs that got into the mainstream but currently there is nothing coming in the next 5-10 years. Another reason is that its also easier to get the android version to their Tensor Chips.

Some people really didn't like the shape of the OnePlus 12 (I'm not one of them but just saying) this design is more "modern" I guess

That hideous camera bump is what keeps me away from OnePlus
@dr.fitprofessor197010 сағат бұрын
Personally, I love the camera bump. It looks futuristic and differentiates their brand from everyone else.
@michaelball9310 сағат бұрын
At least it stands out in a world where phones are looking more samey than ever.
@tanweeralam165010 сағат бұрын
Why don't companies eliminate the Camera Bump?? Why can't we have flat back completely? Pixel and iPhones have even more big bumps. Tech have advanced a lot. Can we see phones with No camera bump? If you meet any company CEO or CTO...tell them to make phones with No camera bumps.

Flat back mean a slight compromise with camera quality
@ij670810 сағат бұрын
You clearly don't understand how cameras work. Only tiny sensors would fit within nowadays slim phone frames. The resolution and amount of light able to be captured would greatly degrade output and the space taken up would mean you'd lose out on other things
@tanweeralam165010 сағат бұрын
@@ij6708 I got it. Then some tech advancement is required in that area so that we can achieve flat back without compromising on Camera quality.
@Sahipkıran19 сағат бұрын
That would be good if you're prioritizing ergonomics and outlook of the design.

Pixel 1 had no camera bump. I still have it in my archive. Not only that it was made of metal instead of shitty glass.

A semi-flagship phone without wireless charging and lack of USB 3 is unacceptable
@NegyedMisi10 сағат бұрын
At least it has a 120Hz screen refresh rate, if you know what I mean ;)
@DiesOnAToilet10 сағат бұрын
It's frustrating because I suspect they are probably saving a couple of dollars per unit putting a USB 2.0 controller on the daughterboard instead of a USB 3.2 one. And the worst thing is, for some reason these USB 2.0 phones' data transfer speeds seem to fall well short of the 30 MB/ real world, best case scenario you'd hope for with USB 2.0. My personal guess is that for a lot of manufacturers, it's a way to differentiate their mid tier models from the flagship one's, more than it is a cost saving measure. For someone who regularly moves a few gigabytes off and onto their phone it creates a lot of pain.
