I've learned a lot about computers, and sarcasm, watching your videos. I tried updating my 10 year old HP which was running windows 8.1 with a new power supply, ram, and graphics card but had issues with the drivers which wasn't all that surprising. Watching your videos pointed me in the right direction and now I can actually use my computer again. Keep up the great work! Also I'm now subscribed to help with the bacteria.

A tip for future reference would be to just install windows offline on a separate computer and then just transfer that drive to the test PC. You could also clone that windows install as an image (~30ish GB) and use that image for future drives whenever you need a fresh windows instance. That was my thought too. A functioning core 2 duo for $19 seriously isn't a bad deal at all, even if you have to throw a few pieces of junk-drawer hardware into it I still have such a rig in my collection, running WinXP, and it handles basic tasks quite well. I've no expectations of modern games with that antique, but then, the reason I have it is to run certain legacy software that won't run on 64-bit versions of Windows.

I really love how original is your content. Although there are top-notch tech KZbinrs out there, they are all assembling machines that most of the times a small percentage of people can afford, or reviewing graphics cards that cannot be bought. Granted I know there's not much they can do and they try to provide content of what's available. But my point is they are all different flavors of pretty much the same. Your content is awesome when I am in a moment of needing geeky nerdy fun. I have to admit thanks to the top-notch KZbinrs I was able to assemble a computer as recently as this week AND was able to troubleshoot that the motherboard was the problem (ugh it was a pain but I found it), so they do have their place but again my point is your content is really different and pure entertainment value. Now, having said that, I would love to see a video of you taking on those top-notch tech KZbinrs and assembling a top-tier computer that you may actually keep after squeezing every penny of all your sponsors, including Vileda :)

For Half-Life 2 on a $19 PC, I recommended you force DXlevel to run from Directx 9.0+ to Directx 8.1 (or can also be down to 6.0) by setting launch options on Steam. Go to Steam first, then right-click on Half-Life 2's title, and go to Properties, and you'll find the launch options section on the General tab. Click on the launch options section, and type "+mat_dxlevel 81", "+mat_dxlevel 70", or "+mat_dxlevel 60" (these DXlevels are options) and then run Half-Life 2. Hope you find this helpful!

At $19 can it even qualify as one? Ya can part it out for more?

My neighbour gave me this system for free with a Q6600 installed. An SSD, ATi 1900XT and Win XP Pro installed later. I now have a awesome retro gaming machine that will even play Star trek Dominion Wars!

I'm so very happy to see that you patched things up with velida! I really didn't expect to see you wear them through 90% of the video, but I'm not gonna complain haha

Love that you kept on your validas throughout the rest of your video 😂 my first thought was windows 10 is a bit presumptuous for that build haha. Probably took up most of your resources available.

Maybe the problem is Win10. I build a 2003 Retro Gaming PC recently and GTA SA, Half-Life 4 runs perfectly on my WinXP - Pentium 4 - GT 520 graphics card system.

I literally still use computers this good worth noting if you're going to run old systems you should probably use an older OS.

Acceptable price imo, especially if you just need a case for a sleeper-build or something just for e-mail and office in the garage or workshop

A Dell Vostro 200! My second favorite potato! I upgraded mine with a 3 ghz dual core processor, 8 gigs of DDR 2 memory and installed Linux. With an appropriate graphics card that puppy will rock for older games. Definitely clean that bad boy out, do some upgrades and make another video.

LOL bro. One of the reasons why your channel is so great because it sounds like you are changing your voice to sound the way you sound. But you are not and thats hella funny!!! :) Great job as usual. I've been doing I.T even before Windows 1.0 and you work on PCs I look at as like yo; please toss that in the dumpster so lots of props to you!! p.s It said it boots into WIndows 10. It didnt say it came with an HD with Windows 10 LOL! epic video as usual! I wanna see a Dawid vs Linus vs Jay vs GN vs Pauls Hardware!

You should have put Linux on that machine. The driver support for both of those GPUs are much better and Half Life 2 has been ported to Linux.

Good deal for a retroarch machine at least. Put a Linux distro or windows 7 on it and you’d have a way happier time over all.

In cases like this, where you can't boot from USB, you can use an SSD to mount the image to, and boot into the installer from the SSD and install on what will be the main drive.

I may have a tip for booting from such old devices: Just burn the install image to your HDD and install the system to a secondary partition on there. That works when you can't boot from anything else other than your system drive, I had to do that in the past with such old systems and it works pretty well but requires some more work to then expand the partition later on

That graphics card really stepped up. I don't push my optiplex 790 (core i5) with big games. I have a 7470 Radeon 1 GB that makes it so I can use two monitors. I run Linux Mint 20.3 on it.

9:33 “The worst I’ve ever seen a game run” True story: I’ve experience much worse, and I wasn’t playing around. I tried to install Doom and it ran much slower that this, I’m being 100% literal. To be clear: it absolutely did run. You had to wait a good while for each frame. It was shareware from the dollar store, and unlike all other games it came on not one but two floppies.
