Get them a cat tree and put it near a window or the sliding doors. Cats like to be up high and by the window they can be occupied with birds and squirrels. They usually come with a scratching post built into them and little sleep cubbies. Everything is looking awesome! Day one viewer. Can't wait for you to move in! Merry Christmas 🎄
@christieevans982Ай бұрын
If you cut off the bottom and use the extra branches for a wreath for your door, you get 2x for the price of 1. It's beautiful.
@barbarawatters4279Ай бұрын
Suggestions for the cats before you move your furniture in….get a couple cat scratching posts for them so they are used to using those and not your furniture. Also get them some toys to keep them occupied. I trained my cats not to get on the counters by using a water spray bottle. I only have to shake the bottle now and they hop down. 😊

What happens when your not looking?
@jdkerkАй бұрын
Great idea! That's what my daughter does with her cat and it really works. The important thing is to be consistent with it. If you let them up sometimes (and pet them) and then not others then they assume that you really don't mean it. It doesn't matter what they do when you're not looking, just be consistent. That's all you can do.
@AnaisAngot-y2lАй бұрын
I am lucky, my cat is special, not much of a climber (it took him 6 months to understand the concept of a cat tree :D) and he never even attempted to climb on the table and the kitchen counters.

The best (by far) cat scratching post I have ever found is called Purrfect Post. They are a little spendy but so sturdy, last for years, and cats gravitate to them!

Now that you have a home you should consider a living tree. I recommend to buy at a nursery after xmas when on sale. I use Monterrey pines. I trim it all year round and give it a 1/4 turn the 1st of the month. Every other year I take it out of the pot and prune the roots. They last about 10 years, before they get thinned out then I get a new one. Been doing this for 50 years.

@paulag1109Ай бұрын
Those kittens are growing up fast. So adorable of course. I have three of my own❤. A few tips: you’ll need two litter boxes, 1 per cat, I used a spray bottle handy for stopping jumping on counters, one cat loves riding on my shoulders to watch what I am doing at the counter, someone else suggested getting them trained to scratch on a cat post or cat tree before you bring furniture in…good idea and another thing you could try to stop them jumping on the counter is lay tin foil on it. Good luck 😉

A spray water bottle will help train your kitties from jumping up on counters or keep them from climbing a Xmas tree. They hate getting wet and it can't hurt them, but teaches them quickly not to do what you dont want.

Your moving right a long. Spraying the cats with water when they are on the counters and or anywhere you don't want them to get on. The washer and dryer is a place that they will like too. Taking apart the cardboard will save space in your trash bag or can. Yay Abby for getting the monster in the house and ty Jim for the help, don't forget to water the tree. Good job Jay for the assistance at the end. Woo-hoo

You need a woodburning stove.......maybe half way between the bay window and kitchen counter. There is nothing cozier than that! and it will cut down on your energy costs during the colder months. PLUS so romantic to watch a movie with the crackling sounds of the wood. You have probably already thought of this......Merry Christmas from OHIO.

When our cat was a kitten we used a piece of fishing line to hold the tree up to the ceiling so the cats couldn't really knock the tree over and you didn't really see the clear fishing line. You will have to put a hook in the ceiling but you could always hang a plant from it after or remove it. The cats will be able to climb the tree and knock off ornaments but they won't be able to tip it over if you have a strong fishing line attached to the top of your tree on strong branches. To keep them off the countertops you can buy these cans of air that have sensors on them and when the cat gets near them they make a sisss sound and spray them with air which scares the crap out of the cat and hopefully with enough scares they stop jumping on your countertops. Or you can put aluminum foil on the counter top and most cats don't like jumping on that and will eventually stop jumping on your counters. We've tried a bunch of things and have had some success but every once in awhile kitty still jumps on the counters. UG!

In my cat experience (18+ kitties) they most likely don’t want to go out when you’re at the house because they want to be with you! Also could be why they keep jumping on the makeshift counter. As far as the counters go, giving them shelves/cat trees or high places they can go will help. Also cats very much so can be trained and know where they are and are not allowed to go. It may be controversial, but a simple spray bottle with water works wonders. It doesn’t hurt them and reinforces the “no” with something they dislike. Many of ours have learned the sound of us picking up the pray bottle and quickly redirect themselves if they are caught doing something they aren’t supposed to do. Take as you will, but thought I’d leave some suggestions.
