My Papaw and my Dad were friends with Brother Lakin, he stayed in our home in the early 80s. He was one of the finest men I've ever known, and I still love to hear him preach. Thank you for posting these, they are a blessing.

Well my Lord.... Made me tears streaming down my face as he helped me realize how Christ was estranged from His Father in those last hours on the Cross... That He became sin for me, I don't think I've ever truly considered that aspect of it, even as I was yet in my sins, He perished and paid it all for me even as I was 1,959 years from even entering into them... To think on my past life as I was lost, and all 1969 years, 1970 years, 1978, He'd paid for each and every sin, suffering an eternity of agony and Judgment in a few short hours... That He became sin for me... Such a shameful, agonizing death, naked and nailed to the cross with little more than the jeers of ungodly sinners to forbear Him, yet still He had compassion, oh my blessed Savior, still He cried the Father to forgive them, and that's my Lord, my Savior, my God, the same as the Father was the Son, the suffering Son. Now I see, the loneliness of God made flesh, forsaken of friends in those last hours. Brethren, brothers and sisters just consider Him: all but departed of the Father in those last hours, suffering, alone like He'd never been in His life, barely divine at all, yet suffering as only Christ could, and for me, for you, for each of us and all of us, tell me that doesn't bring you to tears? I love Him, I'm gonna live for Him, no I don't give a lick what the world might do, what my family might say, I'm gonna live for Him, what is the love of Christ? 1st John, and the Gospels, keeping His commandments: John 14:15: If ye love me, keep my commandments. 1st John 5:3: For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments: and His commandments are not grievous. No, no, I can withstand the temptation of the devil, I can forsake the world, Christ paid my debt, He suffered so grievously for me, I'm gon live for Him, by the grace of God Almighty I'm gon live for Him. I mean brother it strikes you deep, deeep down, 25 mins into a sermon where you started out laughing you're struck as dead and with this realization you cry your eyes out even as a man that don't cry, but this really did happen, He really did pay my price, and that price was steep, and I was, and am, totally unworthy of such a sacrifice, the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world... Only one conclusion, only one resolution to take away, I'm not gonna live in sin anymore. Will y'all stand with me on that?
