Fun Fact: Chain Chomps were designed by Shigaro Miyamoto himself. He said he based them of a time in his childhood where a dog jumped at him and was about to bite him but was pulled back by a chain it was tied to. And yeah Mario 3 was the first game to have one. Funny story really

I believe Miyamoto did the chain chomps himself. He based the idea off of a dog that he had to go by for errands that would always charge and bark until it was snapped back by it's chain. Chain Chomps resemble dogs for this reason: When smb3 was coming up with new enemy ideas, Miyamoto remembered something. When he was a kid, he was walking home from school when he saw a dog. The dog was so ferocious looking so he stayed away from it. But it actually escaped from it’s post while Miyamoto was walking and attacked him! Somehow Miyamoto got away but he never forgot that experience. The reason they are metal is because it makes them look more ferocious and scary. Also, if you wait long enough by a chain chomp in smb3, it’ll escape from its post resembling when the dog escaped it’s post.

Chain chomps I think are a decent design, just poorly coded. A ball and chain that tries to eat you is fine, what I never liked was how they just "randomly" go in one direction. It's not like they always try to lunge towards mario. Much like the Hammer Bros, it's the random AI that makes dealing with them so hard.

Honestly, I actually really enjoy uncleared levels that come from the stream. However, I think you should always cover whatever is necessary to keep it from being sniped. 99.99% of your community is lovely and would never try to snipe levels but it only takes one butthead to ruin it. I'd bet that they may not even be "part" of your community so much as butts trying to ruin other people's days.
