Scott, that children's bowl was portraying scenes from the poem "The Duel" (AKA "The Gingham Dog and the Calico Cat") by Eugene Field! (He also wrote "Wynken, Blynken and Nod.") My Bumper Book (ed. Watty Piper) included The Duel with wonderful illustrations by Eulalie.

You sure are fortunate to have many places to thrift that haven’t been “scrubbed” clean of anything collectible or antique! Believe me, in my neck of the woods the thrift shops have caught on to the “thrifters”😱. Anyone seeking junk, junk or DollarStore “junk” or best yet….a trove of plastic water bottles….thrifting is like finding a need in a hay stack! Not complaining, I go out regularly, have many Goodwills/ etc. thrift stores but their prices are upwards to what resellers might ask…and so it goes! Happy for you that you have plentiful hunting grounds! Have fun, enjoy the journey/hunt!☘️. I enjoy your your show and tells☘️👍

Oh my gosh buddy I know folks get so tired of my soap box but trust me........if I had a nickel for everytime someone told me "Scott.....it's Morgantown Glass and worth $500 bucks.....I saw it on line" As we all know internet listings are RIDDLED with mistakes from the "cut and paste" crowd who don't double or triple check their references. I make mistakes too but and am always learning. I just know better than to immediately trust most of what can be found doing a quick internet search.

I LOVE the days when the cart gets filled up over and over. I can tell you about the big cruet. My home church has one exactly like it in a shadow box on the wall. It was given by a member along with two glass goblets to celebrate the Lord's Supper when the church was first organized. That was in 1888.

Can we just say this together, 'Bobeche for the WIN!' Wow! Thanks for the 'shop along', it's always great to virtually hang out with you. You know I love the 'clear glass' but for me you finding the 'Mildred' cup and saucer put a smile on my face, I do love that old pattern. You know I've been watching you shop for so many years that I actually remember when you used to pass by the 'clear glass' aisle because no one was interested in buying it, it didn't sell... Well, we changed all of that, didn't we! (BTW, I collect Fostoria Baroque with the Chintz etch.) 😻

@@ninasgriccia4652 In the world of re-selling the person selling the item is usually looking to at least triple their 'cost of goods' (and that's just a starting point)... That doesn't even take in to account the expenses involved such as time spent sourcing the item, gas, packing materials, etc, etc... Example: The single (damaged) glass stem was approx $4.25 (with tax) if you triple that amount it's $12.75... Plus the additional cost of shipping the item to you...
@ninasgriccia46528 ай бұрын
Of course. I thought of that after I posted. $10 would be not high enough. Not being a reseller, I thought maybe sellers had to at least double their money, but didn’t take into account other costs involved. Thanks!
