I Thrifted VINTAGE WEDDING DRESSES | Thrift Haul!✨

I AM BACK, YA'LL! And to start. I'm finally uploading a video I was at one point so excited to share haha. It's taken me forever, but upon becoming a mother, I find myself now doing a million and one things and I'm better at it? Ha! That being said, I've committed myself to posting again and over the next few weeks (or months), I will be posting all the content I've hoarded over the past couple years.
Will it be the best? No, but it's going to be in preparation for some AMAZING new things in my life! If you haven't seen my shorts or reels on my other social platforms, you may not know how far I've come yet! I'm sharing my story in a mini series starting next week, so subscribe and stay tuned.

HOPE YOU ALL ENJOY! I've collected so many vintage wedding dresses as well as a ton of formal dresses I've thrifted. I'm going to be selling and/or renting them now as I work my way toward 100% original designs in the future! Next video coming out is going to jump start my story with fashion design and the projects that started my journey!! It'll be a mini series that leads you guys toward all my dress projects I've worked on in the past few months! Meanwhile I'll continuously be work on new dresses! This is a year ago but the wedding dress algorithm finally found me--love your collecting impulse, good taste. What you seem to be drawn to is Victorian/Edwardian style that had a resurgence in the late 70s and 80s. You might be interested in looking at the history, which adds to your expertise, especially in videos, but I like your conversational style, and that's important for a youtube channel. Loved that beautiful 50s frock--that's the scratchy one, I recall the feeling of stiff tulle as a child. And one of those had to be made by someone influenced by Georgian or the style of Azerbaijan--that one with the deep pleat in the front, simple with severe embroidery up to the neck and double sleeve. Have a look at traditional Georgian gowns and you'll see the style. The last dress is really interesting, reminds me of Ann Lowe's design for Jackie Kennedy's dress, very whimsical with the ruffles, unique, maybe inspired by Jackie? Anything that comes with gloves is pre-1970 for sure. Thx, fascinating.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only person who collects wedding dresses! I had a fairly large collection of dresses before my housefire 6 years ago. Very few of them survived without staining cause by the smoke and then steam from the water spayed to fight the kitchen fire. I'm not sure what to do with them now, I've wondered about putting them through tea baths to give them an antique look or possibly repurposing them, using them to make other gowns, flower girl dresses, or the ultimate fairy tale dress up gown. I've picked up a few since the fire with the idea of reselling (a few new with tags) and one just because it was from an incredible designer. My last aquisition was a vintage Laura Ashley polished cotton wedding dress with it's labeled net petticoat. I'm a lot choosier these days about what follows me home. My niece is looking like she may be heading to the altar, I don't have a sense yet whether she's the type to want something inexpensive and practical or if she'll want something that is in the current fashion and from a store. I have hundreds of sewing patterns and know I could make her something astounding, we'll just have to see what sort of bride she is.

Try soaking in some water with bicarbonate of soda, or plain white vinegar to remove any odour from used dresses. Please test on a small inconspicuous area first for precaution.

This video feels like it was so long ago and so many houses ago but I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I’ll have to update and do more hauls since I plan to sell everything now that I’m designing ❤️ I didn’t have a dark wall or anything at that time and was limited in a small space but I’ll keep it in mind for any future hauls with light colored dresses :)

Love your videos I would like to make a suggestion to get a crinolines slip or hoop skirt for under the dresses it will make the bottoms really pop. Most of the older 80’s and prior always needed them ❤

I actually did use petticoats for the photos I ended up taking but since then discontinued collecting and started designing. But I 100% agree it looked better! I don’t think I had one on hand at the time of recording this 😅

You should try soaking the free dress in Oxi Clean with Fabreeze in your bathtub.I think that even though it's beige, it will brighten the fabric and look much better. But it's just a suggestion. I love your videos on vintage wedding dresses.

I have my wedding dress from 1973 and could fit into it until about 2008 or so. It was a very scaled down version of some of the 70's dresses and I wish I had shopped a little bit more at the time. I guess I just like to see what I could have bought! Thanks for the video!

If the fabric is NOT natural silk, most (vintage) wedding-dresses can be used in trash-the-dress shoots using water without destroying it. Polyester is the most suitable. I'm (totally) not into paint or other way to destroy such dresses. Nice collection you have here. Thanks for sharing.

I got them with the intention for photo shoots but then there was a pandemic and so I held off and then I started sewing myself and now I don’t know what to do with them since I barely have time to photograph my own designs haha so I plan to sell when I can actually unpack them. But I’m still obsessed with them I’ll probably do another haul of more before I get rid of them🥹

I've been so busy, I haven't to this day been able to list them for sale, but I'll be working on a part two and then opening up an online shop to sell them now that I no longer need them for photo shoots.
