Being able to explore the Titanic in its full glory is amazing, this is a great use of vr, watching the ship go below the waves, wow that hit hard, it's hard to imagine what it was like for the passengers, but actually witnessing a recreation, wow. It's hard to say what's worse, a relatively quick death with the ship, or living with being a survivor, Thank you for this, it looks like a truly beautiful and sombre experience.

around 1,000 of the passengers were still in the ship, the bow part flooded so most likely anyone there would've drowned, the stern however was a different story as it had alot of air pockets, either the pressure under the sea or the stern imploding would've killed anyone in that part (all within probably less then a minute)

@@connorredshaw7994I'm glad I finally came across another person aware of that. There's a good chance you already know this, but James Cameron even did an experiment to prove that extra lifeboats wouldn't have made a difference if you go by when they began loading to when the ship sank, yet I constantly see the "if only there were more lifeboats" comments anytime I'm watching something Titanic-related.

The thing with the lifeboats is that in this period of time it was common that although they were design to hold for example 50 ppl, they were breaking with 20 on board, thats why they werent filled (officers claimed that they werent tested before, so they didnt know). Plus even officers actually thought that the ship wont sink (at the beginning), they thought that it will take some water, but be able to hold. And to be honest, if there were more lifeboats it wouldnt change much since they wouldnt had time to use them, the last lifeboats were relist soon before the ship sank

Early on people refused to leave the boat. After all, it was unsinkable and the aristocrats were to rich to parish in such a way. The life boats launched on a schedule. Regardless of capacity, each boat would be released in X amount of time. Not launching a boat with 29 people could cause a delay and life boats ending up not in the water. The crew were absolutely all hero’s and the reason anyone was saved.

@ 12:35 - 30 seconds later there should have been an explosive noise which they forgot to interject in this VR of the Titanic. Multiple survivors on the life boats stated once the Titanic's stern completely foundered , 30 seconds afterwards they heard an explosion from underneath the water. This was the stern section imploding from the pressure of the ocean depth, since a lot of air was still trapped throughout the interior of the stern section.

So cool that they are doing this is VR. Makes you want to learn more. The reason the lifeboats were not filled is mostly due to the fact that no one believed that it was going to sink and it was a frigid night. It was hard to convince people to board the lifeboats for what they were being told was just a precaution. Something else I just recently learned, it was more common for ships not to sink at that time and lifeboats were only designed to ferry passengers to a rescue ship once it arrived. So they didn't feel the need to account for a seat in a lifeboat for every single passenger. Also, it took about two hours for Titanic to sink after it hit the iceberg. The first hour was spent coordinating lifeboats launching and safety measures. The front of the ship took a long time to fill with enough water to pull it down, but once the ship broke in half, the back end went down rather quickly.

I'm not sure if anyone ended up mentioning this in the comments, but it wasn't that fast when it sank. I assume they sped up the process cause retention, cause from the moment she hit the iceberg, to the moment she disappeared under the water was 2 hours, and 40 minutes. I can only imagine how terrifying the whole ordeal must have been to watch, and even more so for the people who couldn't make it onto a boat. Though I'm still scratching my head wondering why the lifeboats were so far under capacity..

There weren't enough lifeboats for people because the ships back then were designed to stay afloat much longer than Titanic did after damage. There is examples of this working, where life boats ferried passengers to a rescue ship way before the damaged ship sank. Titanic was built with safety in mind, but the situation was the worst of the worst and the ship was damaged so badly that there was no chance of rescue. Even with more lifeboats, they wouldnt have been released because the ship sank so fast.

Some of the lifeboats like #6 were only partially full because of their "women and children first" policy of loading them. If there weren't any more women and children nearby to fill out the remaining seats, they'd lower the lifeboat into the water without filling those seats at all. That means that seats that could've been filled with male passengers remained empty. It was clearly a stupid practice that needlessly doomed even more people to death when so many people were already doomed because there weren't enough lifeboats for everyone on the ship.
@JazzJaRa

- That we know of, in recent history. Other heinous events like this have occurred, currently occur, and will continue to occur. I assume that the development team for this VR Recreation took a lot of liberties toward the end - depicting the surviving women arguing with a caricatural chauvinistic rower. I can only assume this was done to make the entire ending sequence more palatable, and obscure the uncomfortable truth that the men left behind were effectively murdered by a misandrist society that viewed them as expendable. Of course, saying it that way almost makes it sound as if anything has changed since then. Spoiler: it hasn't. The Hierarchy of Human Importance: Children > Women > Fathers > Single Men > Trash

I wish they bring these experiences to boring Apple Vision Pro. Credit due to creators, hopefully they make it more realistic and put work in it to honor those who passed away and trauma they endured as humans. So far, anyone who experiences this whole ride, never fully enjoys and stays nervous to catch a glimpse of what went and how it may have been as a rider. Imagine being there in that cold, confusion and pain. Rip to all.

The ship was purposefully sunk. Why no others sank this way? All they had to do was slow down and turn. But instead hit reverse and turned it to cause controlled sinking. Look into it. It was Olympic and it was sunk for Titanic insruance payout since Olympics insurance claim was denied.
