My best friend asked me if he could be my boyfriend. I thought he was joking because he used his serious face and voice(he would do that with jokes before). I then saw his reaction and I felt bad for laughing. I told him I did not want to loose our friendship. He then explained why he wanted to date me. It was hard for me at first, coming from a bad relationship. This relationship was very different in a good way. We have been happily married for 5 years. We have a 3 year old and a 1 and half year old. Even when we argue or disagree (not often, but happens) about something instead of calling a time out I say I need to talk to my best friend...he says the same..lol it works.

I had a best girl-friend but it was when we were in 7-9 grade , I went back to Arizona after spending time in Texas border farm land learning Spanish came back been back in Texas 7 years now my best girl - friend is happy married now in Wisconsin with two children but we have grown and I always look kindly to the memory of our friendship.😉

I also married my best friend… we met in 10th ( 1980) grade; I had cancer that year and my leg amputated … a year later she had me back. We married 1993 and are still married. She is still my best friend, best mother and wife. Now again with Cancer ( stage 4 NSCLC) she is still right besides me. God; I am so lucky to have been blessed with this Angel that you sent me …. Maybe He gave you this illness so that you could seek and find Him. If you really want to thank The God, do not associate anything with Him. A girl can take that cringe soy choice of words if she likes you initially. Having someone who's like a sibling to you is a lot better than having a romantic partner or spouse. Also, you are more likely to be much more closer to someone who's like a brother or sister to you than you would be with a romantic partner or spouse. People tend to fight with their partner or spouse a lot more than they do with a platonic best friend, and you never fight with your best friend the way you fight with your partner or spouse. Partners and spouses are just temporary. If you break up or divorce them, it's hard to go back to them. With your platonic best friend, you're going to make things work, because they are your best friend, they are your go to partner. It's always easier to make amends with them than it is with a romantic partner or spouse. Romantic relationships are pointless, while platonic relationships are not.

My best friend since middle school asked me to make a pact with him in 9th grade, that if we both weren’t married by the time we were 30, we’d marry each other. Well, when we were only 18, right after high school he had a horrible accident. He fell 12 feet onto concrete while bike riding and broke his neck in 2 places, fractured his skull and had bleeding in his brain. He very nearly died. We were inseparable from the day he got home from his 8 week stay in the hospital, we began dating and were married just 6 months later. It’s 15 years of marriage this year and we have 2 sons. The “friend zone” is sometimes just a really comfortable and natural place to be that builds a genuine relationship and core friendship that will sustain much longer than any other kind of relationship. He’s still my best friend. 💜

The friend zone is somewhere where women keep their back up men. It's usually not until the men get some self respect and walk away that the woman realises what they will lose. Sounds to me like his accident made you realise what you could have lost and made you look at him as more than a friend. Glad he's ok tho and something good came from his horrible experience.

Make sure to ALWAYS make time for each other no matter your hectic schedules. Communicate about the good and bad things. Don’t ever lose your date nights. Excellent story. I’m a middle-aged man. Been through a lot of different relationships and situations. My advice for anyone crushing on a close friend falls under two categories: If you only kinda like them, just forget it. Enjoy the friendship, maybe try to put a little bit of distance to maybe help you like them a bit less. Unless you have reason to believe they have feelings too. Then just go for it. But if you REALLY like them, might even be in love with them, you HAVE to tell them. For both of your sakes. One of two things will happen: 1 - They will reject you, and you should end the friendship to be able to move on and eventually get over them. 2 - You will find out they like you too, and you can get married like this dude.

Great story. My wife and I are also medical school sweethearts. Met in 1st year, got married between 2nd and 3rd. We have been together now for 43 years. We even retired at the same time and now are grandparents! Even better than being doctors. It does work though not without struggles along the way. However, nothing that really matters is easy but well worth the effort. It has been quite a journey.

Had a similar conversation with my best friend. She was talking to a guy at the time (I know this is irrelevant but for those insecure guys out there this dude was literally a foot taller than me lol) anyway so I told her how I felt and told her it was up to her that I still wanted to be friends first. And the other guy who she had dated for years and broken up with but was still talking to, told her she should be with him. And she said she knew it was me but that kind of sealed the deal in her mind. As soon as he said that she called me. We were married 6 months later and have been married for 7 years now.

I wanted to tell him , but our very imp final exam were just 2 month Far , and I dont wanted to make feel him sad ,or disharted ...I just started keeping little distance from him... But just after one month , he proposed me , and when I said "NO" , he stopped talking to me , and this is how I lost my friend... I have No regreats ... As it was his own choice ... I wish I could gave it a better ending than this ... But no worries , as a person cant be in your life for forever , everybody has a limited part in your life ,and when it ends ,person dissapears... ❤ ... I am happy , as I have a very special thing which can never leave me ,is myself ,me and my art skills...❤
