This is a problem with many people, they say (yes) You never ever say yes. Because you have just helped him in his investigation to prosecute you. You confessed. For one you never know exactly why they are pulling you over. And now they can add multiple charges to your tickets. The answer to this trick question is, (no) always say no because then you are not admitting to any charges.

Reminds me of the cop that pulled over my father in law with a 2.5 tone truck full of cattle. He wanted to see the transport ticket on the cows. He said he did not have one, the cop then ask how many cattle on board, he said I'm not sure but you are welcome to count them. When he crawled up the tailgate it excited the cows and he got covered with cow shit. When the cop got back to the front of the truck old Cliff had found that transport slip, we had a good laugh on that one.

I mean for crying out loud we went into hiding for 2-3 yrs over a virus, when driving, and smoking is far deadlier..... now we have an old unqualified man who doesn't even remember his name as our president, and a wicked witch for vice on top of all this. I’ve met a few of those bad apples.. One in particular on the 99 just south of Lodi, CA. If I could’ve gotten away with it .. Would have gladly rearranged his appendages. A total d-bag A**hole... About the size and appearance of “CHIPs Ponch”.. Major attitude .. as I approach along curb side of my trailer he put up his hand indicating I was close enough.. I know he saw the fire in my eyes... He knew he was being a little “Big S*it”. After he wrote me up I headed to the nearest CHP office and gave his boss pure hell about the incident... still cost me, but at least I got few choice words off my chest. I’m certain my report was NOT the first one.. Cause he was practicing some major dirt just after signage telling truckers to use 2 far left lanes to accommodate on/off city traffic. Then if traffic was preventing trucks getting back over “soon enough” he’d lay in wait and fatten his ticket book! Jerks like him need drivers to find him in a dark alley / teach a little respect for our profession!

Back in the 1970's I had a CHP pull me over just east of Stockton and write me up for three moving violations. He told me that he hated truckers and said I was going to pay. He was so upset that when he wrote the citations he got the corresponding vehicle code numbers mixed up on the three violations. I got a letter in the mail about a week later from CHP that said all violations had been dismissed due to clerical error.

@@dangarrison3503 I've got another story for you Dan. Also back in the early 1970's. There was a group of us Wallace drivers that had been running north out of L.A. together when we came upon a CHP in the bushes just south of Tulare. My CB handle at the time was "The Hitman". I was leading the pack of about eight of us running together and I got on the CB (channel 17), and announced where a smokey was hiding in the bushes. Then I said "The Hitman said that." Well, a few miles up the road we all decided to pull into that restaurant on the east side of Hwy 99 where the old B-17 bomber sat in the corner of that restaurants' parking lot. I can't remember the name of the restaurant, but it was just south of Tulare. Anyway, we were all out of our rigs and walking to the restaurant when this CHP car comes screeching up to us. This big fat CHP comes flying out of the patrol car screaming at us, "Which one of you drivers is The Hitman"?? Well, we all looked at each other and together we all said "I'm The Hitman". No, I'm "The Hitman". We all just kept repeating, "No, I'm The Hitman". We were all just cracking up as the officer just kept getting angrier and redder in the face. As we kept walking toward the restaurant the officer said "You Wallace drivers are really going to get it! I'm going to get every one of you. Come back here, you can't walk away from me". We just ignored him and kept on laughing and heading toward the restaurant. I passed that way many times in the coming years and never saw that smokey again. He is probably still red in the face. That was one of funniest things that ever happened to me during my driving career. A few years after that they moved that B-17 to the Tulare Airport and rebuilt it. And that restaurant is long gone too. Take care driver.

Now, just to be clear I have 1 mounted on each West Coast mirror bracket on my doors above the mirror pointed out at a diagonal angle and back towards rear of truck for full vision of any side swipe possibility or rear end accidents. And 2 in the grill pointed opposite of one's on the brackets for assholes cutting me off or brake jobbing me. But they're my cameras my truck my choice and were put on by me. They work great.

@@crazybox7326, many of us have fought city hall over the years. My favorite trick was to go after rogue cops by focusing on their cities and counties for anything and everything I could, just like they did with Capone. Even if the illegal act has nothing to do with the instant matter, going after it will make life hell for the town, city or county. As one prosecutor put it to me, "[w]hen you show up, our office shuts down." Public disclosure laws are your friend. They can uncover a multitude of illegal or negligent acts and omissions. For example, here, in WArshington, few local agencies fully complied with disclosure laws. Things like, "PROMINENTLY DISPLAYING THE AGENCY'S POLICIES AND PROCEDURES," a law they've had since 1972 to insure they followed. Other sections of the law can, also, then be brought against the agents and the agency. For example, though they've gone out of their way to re-codify relative laws, a bit of digging reveals citizens can put agencies on notice of their violations of the state public disclosure act and, if the prosecutor or attorney general does not act, step into their shoes and file a court action in the county's, town's or city's name with no cost to the citizen. It should be remembered, RCW 42.20.100 makes it a crime (misdemeanor) for agents to fail to perform their duties. Dig deep enough and the individual agents can be sued for acts outside their scope of authority (ref. chapter 4.92 RCW for state agencies and chapter 4.96 RCW for local agencies). That includes judges. On and on it goes, but facts helpful to the public are all but never published by so called representatives of We The People.

I love the final caption. Got pulled over in NW Ohio because the trooper thought it was strange that I had Texas plates. Held me up for an hour and half even though he had seen I was following a company truck and trailer with Texas plates. He circled us 3 times , then said I was evading him because I drove down a gravel road and waited for the truck and trailer to weigh in .I hate Ohio.

@@DrivenTrucking You can laugh now? You were dealing with a maniac who told you, albeit by accident, that he was perfectly willing to lie on the ticket just to hem you up. No telling where it might've escalated to from there if you hadn't informed him of your truck being governed. Pretty funny stuff, eh? Screw it sez you, maybe he was having a bad day just like you were. Yeah, mebbe, but mebbe the next trucker (or whatever) he pulls over doesn't win the Psychopathic Cop Lottery like you did, and dies from a fatal bullet wound, or has a heart attack from multiple Taser torture strikes, or takes a home-run swing to the head from the black-hearted tyrant's baton, or any of a thousand and one other ways cops are well-practiced at causing psychelogical and/or physical injury and/or death. That cop, just like all of them, are latent sadists and/or killers. You gave him WAY more room to practice his barbaric nature either for the rest of that shift, or in the future. All of your cop friends are a lot closer to being just like him than the well-meaning, but nonetheless naive as Hell, cant-see-the-forest-for-the-trees boot-licker your narration exposes you as being. Sorry if I sound unfairly harsh, but for all the violations of Rights and law you let that cop get away with without reporting his piss-poor behavior to ANYONE, anyone giving you props for "holding it together" or whatever, might just be the next victim of that frazzled freak who worked overtime that night to try to figure out a way to put you in jail, or give you an ass-whooping like you've never even conceived of, or actually told enough lies for a Grand Jury or DA to prosecute you for something, literally ANYTHING, and you ended up with a record that could result in your CDL being revoked with no clue how long the PTB (Powers That Be) plan on keeping you in jail for blowing your freakin' air horn. Lots of things going on. - Length of time stopped - Going out of the way to position the truck in a location he believes will inconvenience the trucker - Asking for logs (apparently only DOT officers can ask for that, what someone here mentioned anyways) - And, of course, the fabricated ticket The length of time stopped could be recorded, but it might be hard to consider that in the moment. You could try to file complaints to have the police dashcam footage saved to see how long it took, but that complaint would probably go nowhere. The silver bullet is of course the fabricated ticket. I absolutely would have contacted internal affairs.

I got pulled over for a third lane violation at the I465 and I65 on the Southside Indy. The Trooper had a hard on for my company and loved pulling us over. We would take him to court and usually win. I was going with traffic doing 65 in the middle lane. The right lane was stopped working their way up to the 65 north and south ramp. Cars in front of me all of a sudden slam their breaks on hard to the point I had to quickly go to the left lane and it had absolutely no traffic in it. I then saw why they were breaking so hard the trooper was getting getting the ramp to go North. They all kept slowing down so I stayed out to just get in from of them. The trooper drove off the ramp onto the should and worked his way over. I was going into the first lane as he was going into the middle lane. He gets to my door and does his thing but says in an angry voice that semi trucks are not allowed out in the third lane for any reason. I responded that I went out there to keep from rear ending people that were breaking harder than I could safely stop. He responded that it doesn't matter. He goes back and comes back with my ticket and I again as "so I am not allowed out there for any reason even for safety" his response was "no you are never allowed out there" I respond "next time all make sure I run over every mother f$&ker and let you clean it all up" and "I'll see you in court." Get to court I ask him what lane he was in when he saw me go to the left lane he responded with "that he was in the middle lane" I asked "how could you possibly be in the middle lane when you were getting onto the ramp to go North on I65" He answered that he was not. I asked "then why did you have turn and drive off the ram and onto the should or are we supposed to believe that you were being reckless and tuned on the ramp from the middle lane of the interstate". We went through some more exchanges and I finally looked at the Judge and said "the officer has lied under oath and I would like for you hold him in contempt or refer for charges of perjury". Jude refused. Then the prosecutor stepped up and tried to get me to admit to reckless driving and other things. I won the case turned to the Trooper and told hime to quit pulling my companies trucks over and quit lying under oath. and walked away. All the officers had looks of being dumbfounded. I had a little swagger and other truck drivers giving me hi fives as I walked out.

I know this is 3 years late, but I wanted to comment on your part about because you’re a commercial driver, you consider yourself to be professional and therefore you hold yourself to a higher standard when driving. I wasn’t an actual CDL driver, but I did hold a CDL as a mechanic for a construction company. I had doubles, triples, tanker, and hazmat endorsements. I worked hard to get that license and I kept it for years after I no longer worked as a mechanic. My career field changed about two years after getting the CDL. I became a sheriff correctional deputy. I held that position for a little over 5 years before I was medically retired out due to work injuries. I ended up dropping the CDL when the hazmat endorsement needed to be renewed and I was told I would have to pay a fee for the security check again. It wasn’t worth it because by that time I could no longer climb in and out of a tractor, nor could I press the clutch when needed. I dropped the CDL and went back to a class C. The whole time I held that class A, I held myself to a higher standard when driving. The whole time I was in LE, I held myself to a higher standard in life. Now that I no longer have anything to do with either of those parts of life, I still hold myself to a higher standard in general. This world would be a lot better off if we all did this. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us. Be safe out there.

I've said it before. It's not the laws that need changing, it's how they're enforced. And this goes for just about everywhere. Too many cops get to bring their big fat "obey me" ego with them with impunity. I don't think you'll ever see a cop admitting to being wrong. It almost seems like law enforcement has evolved into its own subculture of "them vs. you".

LOL! That doesn't surprise me at all. Not to sound racial but, as a Latino, if I get pulled over by a Hispanic cop, I am getting a ticket or going to jail. I've gotten pulled over for some outrageouse nonsense on my part by Black or White officers. Most of the time I get away with it because they are sensible people. But as a Latino getting pulled over by a Hispanic cop I might as well call home before I pull over and tell my wife to get my lawyer and bail money. In San Antonio (mind you) I was pulled over (as an OSOW vehicle 14ft wide with rear escort) because my right rear trailer duals went over the solid white line on the shoulder. The cop was Hispanic or Chicano. He read me the riot act. Told me I was a menace and he was going to take me to jail. I asked for a supervisor ( best thing I could have done) to come to where we were and I would speak to him then. I asked politely and professionally and informed him that my escort had everything on camera and to please stop talking to me untill the superviaor arrived. He did not take kindly to that and told my escort to turn off his camera. My escort told him, for what? And miss you making an ass of yourself? Hell no! I am starting to think that it might have been the same guy you dealt with. Supervisor arrived and since he was white, we were able to reason and I informed him about my rear escort's camera and he said, Have a nice safe day. As I was walking back to my truck I heard him telling his subordinate "You sure are a piece of work." Hearing your story That memory came out the back of my head and just had to share it with ya. GREAT STORY !!! And I agree with you. This officer shouldn't even be in this line of work. I have had a few run-ins with officers myself, and overall, they have all been really nice. DOT officers generally know the highs and lows, the good and the bad of truck driving, and it seems that most are willing to cut you a break. But it sounds like this guy wasn't DOT enforcement, so he really had no idea, and probably really didn't even care about any of that. It sounded like you held your composure longer than most people would. But everybody has a Breaking Point. And I don't blame you for getting a little irate with that officer. I know I wouldn't have lasted that long. What Would Have Made It sweeter, is if you had a dash cam, or if your co-driver was recording this on his phone. That definitely would have been a game changer. Keep up the good work !!

I highly encourage you to obtain a good dash cam with side cameras that look down the truck. That would have changed that encounter completely. And had it gone to court there would be no way to deny his actions.

I know it's easy for me to say now, but you may have had him, if you didn't sign, and demand his Supervisor. How it seems to work, from watching lots of vids, is that, if you request a Supervisor, they have to get one to the scene.

I requested a supervisor at my stop, never had one show up, i was arrested and my truck impounded by a corrupt trooper, he didn't have probable cause to stop me so he made something up and made up four charges, i lost all respect for cops over this.

I’m a former peace officer from nyc I understand your frustration. Unfortunately in law enforcement communities they are some individual they’re not cut out for the job. Now I’m an owner operator and sometimes I come in contact with some unprofessional in the field of protecting and serving the people. The police. I’m just surprised by the attitude towards the truck drivers. Especially the State Police, they have more training then local Cops. Stay safe out there.

I just don't aggravate 'em....especially if I'm guilty. I can tell you, they don't give a damn that I'm an accident/incident free CMV driver when in my pickup.....almost like they want to shut you down? I try to respect their risk, but does anyone really respect ours? 👍

I wish I could go to court and say I don't remember going 70 on a 65 mph road. Officers get away with lots of illegal practices and lies.

Officers have been granted perjury immunity; and that is because the court isn't really a court. It is a sham. A foreign vessel in dry dock, operating under foreign law.
