Tomo did a weird hybrid aes/handheld thing about a decade ago. It had a docking station shaped like an aes that opened up so you could plug the psp like handheld into it and hook it up to a tv. The joysticks were pretty much identical to the aes ones and the handheld looked and felt very nice. BUT, the software and emulation was awful. The hdmi output had loads of screen tearing and was very noisy and blurry and the sound emulation was painful. It had built in games and a few stand alone releases on modified sd cards. They got sued for using code from an open source emulator without permission and counter to the `no commercial use` of the licence and it was taken off the market pretty quickly. Worth getting for the usb aes joysticks if you can find a system cheap but the console itself is pretty crap unless you tinker with the docking station and shove a raspberry pi with retroarch or something in there.

It´s missing also anothers good shoot em up classic NAM 1975, Aero Fighters 2 and 3, and Prehistoric Isle 1. And of Fighting games I would add Karnov´s Revenge ,Double Dragon, Rage of the Dragons and Ninja Commando. Greatings!!

If they wanted to go mini arcade again they should have done a Bartop Mini like they did for Visco which is really really well built and has like an 8" screen. The stick and buttons on that feel really nice.

I think I support Neo Geo enough. Got the old mini, asp, and the mvsx. Not to mention some physical PS2 collection version and then bought it again on PS4 from Limited Run. I actually didn't know they were the PS2 version. Only to buy it again in digital format on both PS4. I even bought some on Steam. Yeah I'm tap out Neo Geo classic games.

I went ahead and bought it. I like to collect these mini neo geos. Maybe they fixed the Magician Lord game. That one would really slow down when you entered your initials. That was probably the only bug on the minis.

I wouldn't be surprised if the reason they are releasing this is because of the 8-Bit do Neo Geo CD controllers. During the holidays, Amazon was selling most of them for $19.99 each with the King of Fighters 97 branding on them. I ended up getting one for my Neo Geo Mini International Edition and now, I actually play the console a lot more. I also got my cousin an 8-Bit do controller and a Japanese Edition console for Christmas simply because the controller was that awesome and my cousin is a Neo Geo fan. Unico is probably thinking that the recent holiday sales boosted interest in the console and this is how they are responding to this. What I really want to see is a clicky joystick on the unit itself and for 8-Bit do to make Samurai Shodown themed controllers.

I bought the original mini from Japan. And I like it for what it is. Also got the arcade pro stick. And even bought the clicky 8 bit do controller. I’ve had my fill with these. The games don’t change. And I don’t think they can include other games from their Atomiswave era (would defeat the purpose of the neogeo brand). And they’re not licensing games from other companies like Breakers, Waku Waku, Double Dragón, etc. the line up is always the same. And nothing new in terms of presentation or design. I’ve given up on any future products involving Unico. Happy with what I bought from them. Not interested in anything new.

Now THIS is the SNK cabinet that I have nostalgia for. Still can't justify getting one but this would be the one I would get. About the only branded emulation/mini console I could see myself purchasing now would be if the brought back the Neo Geo X and made it actually work instead of being a buggy mess. A branded Neo Geo hand held that docked and had the old Neo Geo joystick controller would get my money pretty quick.

Can't get excited over mini-consoles, can't get excited over NeoGeo compilations where 2/3rds of the included titles are fighting games with very little to differentiate them from one another. I'll always prefer SNK's pre-NeoGeo era because it comprised a wider variety of genres. It isn't that the NeoGeo wasn't appealing hardware, SNK just overweighted it with one-on-one fighters at a certain point. Heck, SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 released back in 2008 included a wider ratio of game genres. SNK should release a compilation of NeoGeo games which DOESN'T include ANY fighting games!

The non fighting games are largely BAD. That's kind of SNK's problem. They weren't good at making beat 'em ups. They weren't good at making platformers. They weren't good at making shooting games. They were pretty good at making sports games, though. Soccer Brawl, 2020 Super Baseball, and Baseball Stars 2 are just as good as NBA Jam.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Samurai Shodown 1&2 back in the day, but that marked the end of it for me 🤷 I think SNK had the right idea back in the PS2 era when they separated compilations by series (e.g. Metal Slug Anthology, Samurai Shodown, King Of Fighters etc.).

Got mine on sale with 2 wired controllers for $75 a couple years back for Christmas and hooked it up to a 13in CRT with an HDMI to Component converter as with my other minis and am happy with the image quality. I liked the fact that my Nephews could bring it to the living room where everybody was hanging out and jam on the mini arcade screen. Even picked up a couple of those clicky controllers on sale on Black Friday for $20 each that you suggested. Don’t need another and feel as if they should have released this design from the get go minus the UNCO branding.

That Anbernic Ark D/S just killed the game especially with portable NeoGeo at this price range. SNK needs to follow their lead but with their own "clicky" d-pad, NES Advantage looking thing you guys seem to love so much. Even a mini console, I would be down for.

I noticed that it has 4gb emmc memory, so that would be enough to hold the entire neogeo collection of games if they are using the same rom file sized games that are used for mame or final burn alpha. would be cool to have one of these with the complete mvs collection on it.

Whose asking for a full size release? Plenty want a mini. And the Neo Geo X Gold was a mess... I bought one day one and went through several of them.. one the handheld blew up due to a faulty battery, that thing had a lot of problems.. it was neat though for sure during its time.. but people want a mini of the AES in line with what Nintendo, SEGA have done. Would be cool.

I bought one of these a while ago and I have to and I don't know what I did to it but I put it in some kind of mode or program that I can't seem to get out of it I've tried to reformat it and start from scratch several times but it doesn't seem to work so I just take it as I got it it's kind of cool the way it's modded it has some games it's supposed to let me add my own games but it doesn't work I don't know if anybody else knows what I'm talking about
