Since the weather has been good mid April, I decided to take the public bus down to the local beach called Voula Beach. It's about a 1 hour ride to the beach from the city center, but the crowded bus makes it almost unbearable.

It's not lazy, these people live there and deal with it every day. When it's that hot like that, pushing up against each other all the time is not comfortable. Blame the bus system, it needs to be improved. One bus every half an hour isn't enough and not normal for a city that size.

Once again, Greeks blaming all their problems on everyone else. Its their fault, look at how they went in the front . Also the driver shouldnt have opened the front door and he should have closed all the doors to stop overcrowding which is illegal and dangerous. Stop being lazy and outperform all the countries in the EU.

I agree that there aren't enough buses. But at the same time, zero people actually paid for the bus, economically, how can they add more?

@sdnalyam when the bused pass every 30 minutes as the other person said its impossible for the driver to do that. Ppl use the bus to go around and if they get in that bus and not wait thats means they need to get in the bus at thats moment

I don't know about the commuter trains, but the subway and buses work just fine if you ask me. Sure, in rush hour the subway may be awfully crowded, but one train every 5 minutes is as good as you can ask for.

Lately, Johnny, it seems like you're having trouble keeping a woman with you for more than 14 hours (I think this time, it was the mentioning of the nude beach)! 😂😂😂😂 For a second, I thought you accidently stopped in Indian until I saw the pristine beaches! 😂😂 I was wondering if those overcrowded buses have air-condition? I'm with you. I am getting a car (public transportation, thumbs down)!

Taxis are so cheap in Athens I just do that to get around. The more south you go the better the beach. Go to Barkiza or Vouliagmeni beach areas. Nice warm water in the summer. I think they charge $5 for the organized beach. Way worth the money.

I'd have the same thoughts about Athens as Italian big cities, lackful urban planning, too many cars, income inequality, high population, overtourism, warm climate, it'd all make people miserable/angry , not care about being considerate and considerate about the environment in general (not littering say), so a negative social environment all in all, just my impression of things,

These countries population less than 10 million, if you cant solve the public transportation problem , what can you do for the economy, crimes, health, education ? Greece economy collapse for the last 20 years with over $400 billion dollar debt. Ukraine will face similar problems when the war is over. These level of debt impossible to pay back , only heaven can help them. Imagine you owe $10 million dollar in the US , Australia , Canada , UK and you only earn an average salary

The Public Transportation in Greece is actually Amazing 😃 I know, I live here. Also, the Greeks get Free Health Care as well. As for the Crisis they experienced, Greece has paid back all their IMF Loans earlier than expected & has some of the Highest growth in all of the EU. Yes, their Debt is still High, but they are in the right track. I think you are still stuck in 2009 😂

Greece is a modern first world nation. Just go and check it out yourself you will be amazed. Just because we had financial difficulties in the early 2010s that doesn’t mean that the quality and standards of living haven’t drastically improved in the last decade. People have much higher life expectancy in Greece than in nearly any other country in the world. That’s a direct sign of wealth, health is the ultimate wealth. Cheers and hope you check out Greece for yourself someday soon you will be amazed.

Lol 😆😆 what??!! Where did you get that info?? Tourism is the country's most important industry and literally most of the state's and the citizen's income comes from the gazillion of tourists that come to Greece every year, and as a tourist you'll find it very difficult to find friendlier and more welcoming locals anywhere else in the planet. Oh, and also almost everyone speaks basic or more advanced English ( very important)
